this is a western classic no matter what

Angelina has had a number of defining roles - Gia for example - where I agree Rene really is just average at best

This was a fantastic western. It was not 3:10 to Yuma or Open Range, but I loved this. As a fan of this dying genre, I have to say that this was a good western. Rene was terrible. She is terrible. I wish she would quit. Also, Ed Harris' direction was nothing to write home about.
Great deliberately-paced, old fashioned western....loved the retro-styled score....the wide expanse of the New Mexico landscape should look good on the BD canvas....likewise, the train sequence should sound 'moving' in TrueHD....all in all, I much preferred 'Apaloosa' over the other recent western entries such as '3:10 To Yuma'....would love to see 'Seraphim Falls' ported over to BD also.

The film was nothing groundbreaking, but it didn't need to be; sometimes we just need a good-old fashioned Western, and this film delivered in spades. I do agree with some earlier posters, the ending could have been edited a bit and Renee Zellweger's character (though I have nothing against her as an actress) was incredibly out of place. Jeremy Irons was underused, too. BUT, the heart of the film is the relationship between Harris and Mortensen, and that's where the movie really shines.
Great movie! A slow-burn western. Viggo was great and there were some great exchanges between Viggo and Ed. I hope they make the next one, but based on how many people saw it, probably not.
This was a really good movie that if the last 20 minutes had been recut or changed and Renee Zellweger wasn't such a God-awful actress, would have been perfect. If you can just ignore her character for the runtime and make it through the overly-drawn out ending, this is up there with the best modern Westerns. Love that artwork, so I may just pick up the Blu-ray.
this didn't look bad...
it just didn't look like anything special either.

A definite buy for me.
Viggo and Ed in one movie......HOW CAN THIS NOT BE AMAZING?!? Will defiantly check this one out, even though I'm not the biggest western fan!
