I would rather watch a Micheal Bay film 10 times over then watch a Roman Polanski or Francis Ford Coppla. Sorry, but I love Armageddon, The Rock, The Island. Call me stupid, who cares what you think. He makes fun action flicks.
I want a Bruckheimer commentary, goddammit.
Bay knows b****r all about the craft of filmmaking, where as Bruckheimer does, and for any filmmaker (like myself) Bruckheimer's insight is - you know - actually insightful. Where as Bay genuinely thinks he's this generation's answer to Kubrick, Bruckheimer knows Bay is a hack, and discusses these films as such.

Just LOL at this quote. Next you'll be saying the same about Uwe boll.
Nice joke period.

Sure, he doesn't write the scripts, but he's the director for Chrissake. He has the authority to change that stuff!
He is a hack director, but he makes money. Not much in this world is fair, and far fewer people have good taste than those who have bad taste. Most people want to be mind-numbingly entertained, and for tapping into that, Michael Bay is a genious.

Love him or hate him, you can't trash Michael Bay for plot holes - he doesn't write the scripts. Sure, he may choose projects with poorly written scripts at times, but then he should actually get more credit, because his direction (especially in action sequences) actually makes them watchable. Personally, I find most of his movies very entertaining, if you have the brain firmly turned off. Bad Boys, The Rock and The Island are all definitely worth owning.

1st, you assume I pay to watch his movies, I don't. 2nd, what you call "not close to terrible" is your thoughts, not mine. You don't see Scott, Spielberg, Cameron, or Eastwood getting knocked like Bay does. There's a reason people bash his movies, cause they suck. Sure, preteen boys may see them 20 times, but how many adults actually go to repeat showing of them? I would bet not very many.
I'm not knocking him as a person, I'm sure he's a nice guy, I just hate how he directs, his "stories" are thinly concealed steaming piles of c**p, and he can't edit to save his life. He's TOTALLY inconsistent in that regards.
just a few examples:
Bad boys 2: They invade Cuba...really??? I guess they turned into supermen in a deleted scene because they manage to dodge all the bullets the Cuban army is firing at them.
Armageddon: Lets just throw out how the shuttle works, we don't need to actually fuel those huge ass engines on the back of it, to say NOTHING of how nuking the asteroid wouldn't work in real life, or how the Mir space station didn't operate with only one crew member or that it looked NOTHING like that inside of it. At the speed that asteroid was going , those "shuttles" would have been ripped to shreds before they even got to it, much less LAND on it.REALLY??? Where did the Russian get his special anti-zero gravity suit from, they're tailored made. Bay must not watch his own c**p, because he always has scenes that start off in light, but seconds later, it's pitch black. Where the hell did the last few hours go?
Transformers 1 and 2: Other then the special effects, these movies are c**p. no story, paper then characters, plot holes you can drive a auto-bot through, and shot gun editing. Again, light-night problems and rushed pacing.
If you like his movies, more power to you. Hollywood keeps hiring Van Damn, Eddie Murphy, the rock, Jack Black also, so your point doesn't make a lot of sense. Bay makes money for the studio, so he keeps getting work, I'll give you that. My argument isn't that he's losing money, he's just dumbing down the action movies to the lowest common denominator, namely, people with preteen IQ s and throws a few story ideas into a blender and directs whatever trash oozes out. He's a talentless hack who should go back to Music videos.

How is he over-hyped? Hollywood hires him to make big blockbusters because the movies he makes make big bucks. Then we spend all of our time going to see his movies and complaining about how bad he is. The truth is he makes perfectly watchable movies out of movies that could have been really good. So we watch him because everyone wants to see a movie like transformers or to see Sean Connery break into and escape from alcatraz. The really good movie we're hoping for ends up being simply ok to good. He's one of the most bashed directors out there but only because everyone sees his movies. There are way worse directors and movies out there. Go after Polanski. He hasn't made a decent movie since the 70s and he had sex with a 13 year old and acted in Rush Hour 3. Or Coppola who also hasn't made a good movie since the 70s (or early 80s if you like Rumble Fish) and also gave us s**tty movies like Jack and Supernova. Bay has made all of 8 movies. None of them have been close to terrible.
There are way worse directors & films out there & you go after Roman Polanski & Francis Ford Coppla? What are you smoking? You just mentioned two guys who have already established themselves as two of the greatest directors ever & you put moderate Michael Bay ahead of them? You must not be a very bright individual? Let alone it seems all you look in making judgement on someone's quality as a filmmaker is by Box-Office numbers? A few words of advice: Box-Office means jack**** in terms of a film's quality. For starters Roman Polanski's latest film "The Ghost Writer" was a solidified film let alone it was critically praised. Sadly, it just got a limited release. Francis Ford Coppla meanwhile also made a well-crafted film called "Tetro" which was well prasied as well but again, another film that got a limited release. Both of these films where overall superior films compared to Michael Bay's latest installment which was "Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen".
Michael Bay's only real solid film is "The Rock". Sorry, Francis Ford Coppla & Roman Polanski are far & away superior directors. Also, what does Polanski's personal problems have to do with his filmmaking? Oh wait! Nothing!
P.S. You must NOT have a well-versed knowledge in filmmakers because you wouldn't have stated those two guys.

I am ready for a third one. I thought part 2 was really good, better than the first even
wow, they sure skimped on the extras. i have the 2 disc dvd and it has a couple hours worth of material. you'd think they would have just transferred that stuff over.
and yes like others have said, bring on Part 3 and complete the trilogy.

Don't forget the much maligned Uwe Boll, who has never made a decent movie in his whole "career."
I love the Bad Boys movies. I hope they do a third. I'll wait for a trilogy set.

Awesome news! Now announce Bad Boys 2!
Vaguely remember these but agree...a Bad Boys trilogy will work.
Ah, yes, finally. Michael Bay's magnum opus and one of the loudest, dumbest buddy-cop action flicks ever made comes to Blu-ray, LOL. Good times to be had with the DTS-HD Master Audio track on this one, for sure....
cool. hopefully they`ll be a box set with BB2 in so i`ll wait. BB3..any news?
