It mainly stands on its own, but yes there are a few elements and teases from the Batman Begins storyline.

Will definitely be buying this. FYI, rumor has it that "The Dark Knight" may run 3 hours or there abouts (160-180 min.).

Oh... that saying is going away now.
With the stupid death of Mr. Ledger, Warners promotion machine is, for some reason, speeding up the nonjoker ads, and going for a 'Elect Harvey Dent' campaign, and stearing away from what was going to be a huge Joker themed advertising campaign.
Shame, shame, shame... thanks a lot Heath.
As for this DVD... 2disker for me, seriously.
But Harvey Dent is so boring compared to the Joker. Atleast before his other personality shows up. Plus "Why So Serious" is just so catchy.
Oh.. I totally agree, but Warner Bros. does not have the balls to continue the Joker heavy campaign, due to Heath being dead and all. So we get the lame Harvey Dent to advertise, although it is convienently going into a big election year in the USA.
The Joker campaign would'vd been cooler, but I guess it would give John Q. Public the willies to be bombarded buy a dead guy.
There were talks of plans to change the ad campaign to focus on Harvey Dent and Batman well before Heath's untimely death anyway. There was an article about it on DarkHorizons in December after the prologue hit IMAX theaters with I Am Legend.
The new theatrical trailer was supposed to hit with 10,000 BC last month but it's delayed to run with either Speed Racer or Get Smart. No one knows exactly what's going on with that.

The new 2-disc art, without the 2nd Batman, is much nicer. Can't wait!
I'm getting a special edition DVD! Yay!

im so glad they got rid of the weird double batman on the 2-disc dvd and the blu ray! the cover now looks awesome. Blu for me!
Didn't know this would have a Japanese dub, but this is a stylized anime so it was probably made for U.S. and Japanese audiences alike.

Yay! It seems like they tweaked the 2-Disc art and it looks much better now. Can't wait to see this and The Dark Knight!

The voice cast for the movie was announced this week, courtesy of the press statement released by Warner Bros.
"Anytime we initiate an animated Batman project, 'Will Kevin Conroy voice Batman?' is the first question we hear from fans," said Bruce Timm , Executive Producer. "To meet Kevin is to know that he's not anything like Batman, and yet he manages to perfectly nail that indefinable element that is Batman. He's got the voice, he's got the acting chops, and he's absolutely the best man for the job."
Conroy provided a central, rallying point for a cast that perfectly meshes stars of some of today's highest rated primetime television series with many of the most popular voiceover actors in the business. Gary Dourdan (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and Ana Ortiz (Ugly Betty) are heard in multiple segments of the six-story film as police detectives Crispus Allen and Anna Ramirez, key members of a special unit who learn to trust the Dark Knight's motives. Parminder Nagra (ER, Bend It Like Beckham) supplies the voice of Cassandra, a mystical Indian woman who teaches Bruce Wayne to endure and manage his pain. David McCallum (Navy NCIS, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., The Great Escape) takes on the role of loyal servant Alfred. George Newbern (Father of the Bride) and Alanna Ubach (Legally Blonde) also join the cast.
The cast also features popular voice over artists Corey Burton, Rob Paulsen, Kevin Michael Richardson, Will Friedle, Jason Marsden, Jim Meskimen, Pat Musick, Scott Menville, Hynden Walch, Corey Padnos and Crystal Scales.
And you're welcome!

Ah ok. Figured it was a press thing, but was curious in case there was a chance to see it.
Im hopeful they'll put up The Dark Knight in eScreeners later this year...muahahahaha! lol
Warner provides electronic screeners for some of their titles. You need to have press access to their site to get it as all of the content has DRM. Most of the stuff they've released so far has been c**p though. At the moment we also have Darfur Now and P.S. I Love You...
...Where are you able to see this?
Chris Gould wrote: This is available on Warner's eScreeners now. It just notified me that it had downloaded it.
Yeah, I watched it a few days ago. Its alright, although it's no Anamatrix and the first episode is exactly the same as one done in Batman the Animated Series. It was nice to hear Kevin Conroy's voice as Batman again though.

Yeah, big gift set too.
I just read there's speculation the Blu-Ray release of Batman Begins is this same day...I'm freakin' excited!
If that's the case, I will definitely begin my Blu-Ray library with this animated conglomeration and Batman Begins.

I will possibly check that out.
There was... I think it's OOP now though. It had Mask of the Phantasm, Sub Zero and Return of the Joker (if I remember correctly)
I'd also like to take this oppurtunity to point out the flawed logic in "Brad Pitt"'s post. Why would Trekkies buy this?*
*Obviously the post wasn't based on logic and just meant to get a rise out of people, but seriously, are people getting that bad around here? This isn't IMDb...

Is there a box set of all the animated Batman films?
"2-disc art looks pretty cool, but why's Batman on there twice? "
Maybe there are two Batmans because it's the TWO-disc edition?

I'd imagine harcore Bat-fanatics are in better shape physically than hardcore Star Trek fans......

I've lost some weight actually.

I like both covers and I cannot wait to see this! Although I really don't see the point of the second Batman on the 2-Disc artwork as well. I know it's six different visual interpretations of the character, but it still seems a bit much. Either way, I want it!

Is that really an intelligent or necessary comment?
Anyone who supports the new efforts being done to make a worthy Batman film franchise after it was nearly annihilated last decade will most likely buy this, that's who.
Besides, I'm not fat, I'm not a Trekkie, and I have but one, maybe two days a week to myself these days...

"Blu-ray DVD" ??
I know that Kevin Conroy is voicing Batman, but, who else is providing voices for the movie? I'm asking this because the DC Universe movies are usually star-studded animated features.
We get a raw deal in Ire/Uk with DC Animated sets. I had to import all my Justice League and Unlimited sets, and also all of the Batman sets, TAS and B:Beyond. Even Superman isn't available.
But seeing as this is tied to a major motion picture it might get a European release. Might check it out, be nice to hear Kevin Conroy as Batman again.

Decent cover art. Not that my purchase was hinging upon it anyways.....
i'll just watch it when my GF netflixes it..... personally, i find anime to be rather overrated.
there's far too much "looping" going on most of the time, which is totally lazy IMO--- and sorry i have a hard time appreciating characters whose mouths animate with only two frames of animation..... i mean for christ's sake, Scooby Doo actually pronounced his words.

Definite buy, I love all the DC animated universe movies.
Is this gonna be like JL: New Frontier and have no R2 release?
I want to watch this and I can't wait for The Dark Knight to hit theaters.
I'm glad it doesn't look like "The Batman". They are getting my money for sure.

Will definitely be getting this on release day. Better make sure I got enough room in the Batman DVD collection for one more on July 8th.....
Kevin Conroy, who voiced Batman in the SUPERB 1990's animated series, is returning to voice Batman in these. Best news I read all day!
It's an even better day now that I know that the atrocious 'The Batman' animated series has been cancelled and ends this month.

I know nothing about this but I'll consider it if Bale (at least) lends his voice.
A "sneak peek at the upcoming Wonder Woman film?" Surely this is another animated story because there's no peek to be sneaked on the currently dormant live action film.

I believe they're gonna throw on some bonus Batman episodes on the 2 discer as they did with JL eps on New Frontier... When you think about it, the 2 disc entries for Final Frontier and this seems kind of like a rip off... I mean the movies themselves are no longer than an hour and 15... The featurettes are under an hour.. So why can't they all go on 1 disc?
Superman/Doomsday was a 1 discer and still had a substantial amount of features which even included a casting feature.. Which I didn't see at all on the 2 disc Final Frontier.
The only additions to the 2 disc were a couple extra featurettes (one half an hour, and one 10 minutes), and the bonus Justice League episodes. As I said before, couldn't all of that fit on 1 disc? Or how about just sc**pping the bonus episodes, which i'm sure people already own via season sets, and just have the 1 disc.. I appreciate the option WB provides, but why shell out extra money for something that isn't a fully blown special edition.. For a little extra documentary, and some bonus episodes? Just another case of the man trying to take us for extra money. :p j/k
But yeah, this 2 disc seem just as pointless as the 2 disc for Final Frontier... And i'll more than likely end up contradicting myself and shell out extra for the 2 disc anyway... Go figure.

Will definitely buy this despite my not being a big fan of anime. Looks like it's the same style as The Animatrix, which was totally bizarre to me. I am a HUGE Batman fan though, and am eagerly awaiting The Dark Knight, so why not invest in the companion piece?
Might buy this one.
well its gotta be better than the JL New Frontier movie. i cant believe how sorta boring that thing was.
Can't wait to see the artwork! I hope its something that goes nicely with the Batman Begins artwork.
Not even needing to think about it... gonna buy it and enjoy it.
Why So Serious?
Can't wait to pick this up. Blu-ray all the way on this one. The Dark Knight is gonna rule!!!!
I don't know why everything is all anime nowadays... The Tales of the Black Freighter is going to be anime-style too. Is normal animation just too ordinary? It's worked in the past... I'm not that huge a fan of anime (as you may have guessed), but I think it could be an interesting enough approach to do a Batman cartoon.
That being said, I am looking forward to this. And will more than likely pick up on the release date.

This looks promising, good companion piece to Begins and Knight also an addition to DCU movies.
