Yes, and it's glorious. This is my favorite of the post-Star Wars ripoffs. Ever since Shout! Factory started doing the Roger Corman collection I've been waiting for it. Now if they could only get Space Raiders (one of the films in which nearly all of the space-based effects from BBTS was reused) released on at least DVD I'd be very happy. Shout! Factory is one of the better smaller distributors out there and have been putting out some really quality releases lately, so this one should be decent.

I vaguely remember it. It's the one with the big orange ship with the pods on either side yeah?

Sounds about right. The main hero's ship is the large one on the DVD artwork above, but it's actually an orangey flesh color in the film.

James Cameron - when working as an FX flunky for Corman - designed the "mothership". (Yes, it purposely has boobs.) Cameron got bumped up to production designer on this as it was filming...
I rather enjoyed this film- I want to see it again
They'll region-lock this f***er, as usual.

I enjoyed this movie. I watched it when I was trying to catch up with all movies based on the Seven Samurai. This was pretty good to watch. I remember that Robert Vaughn played the same role he had played in The Magnificent Seven. Only, instead of cowboys, they were spaceboys!
I wouldn't mind picking this one up. And I imported a PS3 from US sometime back so I don't get to miss out on Region A locked Blus. I am not too certain of the quality of the Blu-rays we get here. I never buy Foreign movies locally here. I always import them from Amazon.

The box would look so much better without that stupid top bar though.
"Battle Beyond The Stars" and "Blu-Ray" are words that I NEVER expected to see together in the same sentence. What's next? KRULL?
No really, when's Krull coming out on Blu-Ray?

Titship.

In a recent EMPIRE article James Murakami claims he designed the ship (he still has the original pencil sketches) and Camerons work was mainly on the interior apart from alterations to ah.... the ships nipples.
I love this film though it's great fun. Hopefully these see the light of day in the UK. Madness to region lock them. A lot of people would import them if they didn't.

This whole region-locking is so damned annoying - there are some titles coming out from this Roger Corman collection that stand no hope in hell of being released outside of the US, so why the hell are they bothering to do it? We know that the standard answer is "contractual reasons", but it's still pretty nonsensical.
Oh, and for the record - that cover art stinks. Still, it's in keeping for the Roger Corman school of advertising in that it promises things that the budgets couldn't posisbly deliver...

And I'd be right behind you. It's been on HD channels here for a while...hopefully Sony pulls the trigger on the Blu-ray soon.
