Hmmm, I think I might rent this puppy and hold off on buying until there is either a price drop, or it's packed in (or just a part of) Season 4.

They also announced the HD DVD release of Season 1 with this press release - why no mention on DVD Active?
yeah, this is technically supposed to be part of season 4.
I hope they go all out on season 4, season three had a lot of problems.

Technically, and chronologically, this movie would be a part of Season 1, as it tells the back story of the Battlestar pegasus, going back to the original Cylon War.
I have my BSG discs in those 1" 6-disc cases and since Season 1 only has 5 discs, I figure I'll put this DTV movie in with Season 1 to fill out that case.

Technically, this story doesn't take place during any season.
Part of it takes place before Season 1, part during Season 1, part during Season 2 and part probably between Season 3 and 4.

Right, the story takes place before any season but I read in an interview that the story being told, directly relates to season 4's story and that is why it should be considered part of season 4.
Quote take from an interview with Ronald Moore:
"But, that's not all the Battlestar Galactica fans can expect. Season Four is going to start out with a 2-hour prequel movie, focusing on the Battlestar Pegasus."
I think that closes the case on where this film should be put in the BG timeline.

Not in the least. Yes, he says it's a prequel...but a prequel to what? Pegasus was destroyed after a few episodes into Season 3, so any relation to Season 4 is only going to be what might have taken place in recent Pegasus history when Lee Adama was commanding. The rest of the story in this movie is going to be well before the current series takes place. Or at least a good portion of it.
How all this may tie into Season 4 has yet to be seen, so until Season 4 airs next year, we're all just blowing smoke.
In any case, I'll be anxious to see the ol' Beast back in action again in its prime.

the basic plot of movie is that it supposedly takes place before the attacks on Caprica, and the idea is that people in the fleet knew of the new generations of cylons and then this will effect what occurs in season 4.
It's got classic Cylons, and classic tri-seated Cylon Raiders!!! I will buy it when it comes out, great show all around!!! If it happens to get shoved into my eventual purchase of Season 4, so be it.
I don't know if this will be part of the season 4 DVD release, but Universal loves a good douple dip. I wish they would release the final two seasons of Sliders to DVD.
I saw a preview of Razor at the San Diego Comic Con, and it looked great. I have yet to see an episode of Battlestar Galactica, but after waiting in line for six hours to get into the Heroes panel unsuccessfully, I was determined to see something. The Battlestar Galactica panel was great, and the Razor preview has gotten me excited. I've got the Season 2.0 and 2.5 sets. I just need to pick up Season One before I can begin my enjoyment of the show. For anyone doubting the quality of Razor, though, doubt no more. It's worth the money.
I think I will wait til we get more info on this before I make my buying decision.
I'm sure I will get it, I want every thing about this show

Very much looking forward to this! Just a shame that it'll be kicking off the final season.

DBZALLSTAR, don't forget about the 4 part miniseries on DVD... season 1 isn't a good place to begin.
Bear McCreary mentioned the season 3 CD (music) was supposed to align with the DVD release of season 3. He had originally let slip that it would be August, but his website is now saying the CD is due in October... draw your own conclusions...

Given that SG1 has ended, BSG is ending next year and Sci-Fi just canned Painkiller Jane and The Dresden Files, here's hoping they pony up the cash for the long-in-development prequel series, Caprica!
Hey, I can dream can't I?

I think this may be worth a rent, because it will no doubt end up on TV in due course!
I'm glad this worthless show finally is going to show real Cylons and Cylon ships. Hopefully, they'll even have the real Vipers shuttles.
Has anyone tried looking this up for preorder? Amazon has it for $40, and Best Buy has it for $70! It was bad enough (I felt) when they took me for $30 for each half of Season 2, but $40 for a two hour movie is nuts!

Artwork added for the HD DVD release - may change slightly mind
I would say "Battlestar Galactica style", but the show's dropped cutting edges on its paper/books/boxes/etc.

Yeah...like 2 weeks BEFORE the DDVD comes out.

I like the BSG Season One HD-DVD box, with the signature cut corners.
I wonder how much better the show will look in HD, though. It's one of the worst shows when it comes to picture noise. The DVDs looks pretty bad most of the time, especially for episodes like The Captain's Hand in season 2. Damn HD cameras needs TONS of light poured into the barrel and the DP doesn't seem to be accommodating that, which gives you a very unclear picture.

It ties into Season 4 but it is not part of Season 4 nor does it show anything beyond season 3.
Artwork added for Razor...
sweet!! they went with the cover I voted for. On the website, there were 3 to choose from.
