Quote: Jack Black and Mos Def star in Be Kind Rewind, a unique comedy from Academy Award-winning writer/director Michel Gondry (Dave Chappelle's Block Party, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). Black stars as a loveable loser stuck in a life that's too small for his big dreams. But when he unintentionally erases all the tapes in a video store where his best friend (Mos Def) works, he devises a plan to satisfy the store's few loyal customers by re-creating and re-filming every movie they decide to rent. Be Kind Rewind features a cast that also includes Danny Glover, Melonie Diaz and Mia Farrow.

I didn't get a chance to see this in the theaters. May pick it up.
And Mia Farrow for The Omen. Surely it should be Rosemary's Baby?
I *beeping* loved this movie. Can't wait to buy it so I can watch it again because it left my local theatre after 2 weeks.
JAck Black = no go (just like Martin Lawrence)
To put my 2 cents in on the whole flipper discs thing, sometimes new movies come in the flippers such as Alvin And The Chipmunks...it is 2 sided and has fullscreen on one side and widescreen on the other
Where the hell is the blu-ray announcement? Dammit, I'm tired of some of these studios dragging their frickin' feet on this. Come on, New Line, err..WARNER! - the format war has been decided for nearly 3 months now and the only decent release we've got is Pan's Labyrinth...bass turds!
I loved it myself. It's a total encapsulation of Gondry's filmmaking philospophy and has some nice things to say about the importance of community.
It's a shame the "sweded" films aren't a bonus the on dvd though...

Wow, general consensus is odd...
its funny that they described Jack Black's movie roles as Nacho Libre & King Kong...I mean one was an oscar-nom movie & the other was a nickelodeon piece of c**p...
I really liked this movie, it had a lot of heart. Mos Def is an excellent and underrated actor, and Jack Black added all the screwball antics this needed. I'll be picking this up when it goes hi def. You can definitely tell it was directed by the same guy who did "Science of Sleep" (Michel Gondry). Same camera angles, same dreamlike quality to the scenery and plot. It was really refreshing for a movie to be able to get laughs and not rely on toilet humor.
I don't understand why everybody hates on this film. Of course it wasn't quite what I was expecting, but it was still a very funny movie. The "swedish" scenes were hilarious. Anybody who is a fan of cinema should have enjoyed this movie for that aspect alone. I will definitely be buying this. I just wish there was a Blu-Ray version.
Easily the best movie I have seen this year!

Not quite true. I know I have a few that are one side WS and on side FS that I bought recently, but I can't recall. The only ones I can think of are that LOTR LEs.

Looks like great fun. Will definitely rent it.
Nice cover art. Can't wait to see this movie too.

Totally mad I missed this but it's a def blind buy for me. I really like the artwork but I am disappointed with the special features, and I do hope it's not a flipper disc.
This movie was a lot of fun, love it!
Michel Gondry's a genius but the movie stank.
I f**kin LOVED this movie with a passion. Naturally, I'm inclined to like it simply because it was filmed in the town next to mine. But I honestly thought this was a sweet and really clever, funny flick. Can't wait to own it.
Saw the movie and LOVED it!!! They don't make movies like these anymore, it reminds me of the innocent movies back then like Back to the Future, E.T. (and even) Ghostbusters where you just have to sit back and let it go. Gondry has an imagination that is so inventive and so full of heart that you can't help but love it. That one shot sequence of them jumping and sweding to all those different movies was INSANE, CREATIVE and so FUN to watch.
Gondry has released 2 movies that were very out of the box therefore, I didn't mind the out of the box-ness of the film because knowing Gondry (Eternal Sunshine and Science of Sleep) his films are always going to be different so to the ones who saw his previous films there shouldn't be any complaints. You knew what movie you were going into.
Black and Def were great and play off of each other so well. I almost cried at the ending, because being a student of film and understanding that the film industry nowadays is all about business and hollywood and money...it just really gave me hope and brought me back to my childhood and made me understand why i LOOOOOOVE movies.
Go watch the movie, relax and just go with it. Don't think about it too much, reality or not, BE KIND REWIND is a VERY creative film that is a gift from Gondry to film lovers EVERYWHERE!!!
9/10

Wasn't interested in this when it hit theaters, so I have no interest to buy it on DVD
A rental...

Well actually I took someone to see it with me. Forgot to mention that.

Terribly Photoshop'd heads.
I might buy this.

I wasn't, but I thought they missed a big opportunity do really do a lot with the remaking of the movies... Ghostbusters was pretty good and then, not much else.
It just wasn't what was advertised, and didn't live up to the concept or premise. IMO.

Why's Danny Glover's name so small below Mos Def's. I didnt even notice it was there!
Anyway, this film was okay. Entertaining for 2hrs.

the film is alot more better if your a filmmaker, and being one i found it very funny.
This was pretty funny and entertaining. I like the cover art. Hate the Hammond blurb but whatever, at least it's the poster art.

Not a bad movie,, but the ending was a letdown. I do agree the Sweded parts were the best part of the film (except for the sweded bit of Rush Hour 2).

Agreed. This was a horrible letdown.

The movie wasn't that great, but the 'sweded' parts were awesome!!!
This movie was a major letdown...
I think the fact that they had to take Back to the Future out of the script and rewrite a lot of it really factored into killing the more fun scenes of recreating the movies... there wasn't enough of that at all...
What you ended up getting was an uplifting story about the good ol' days and bonding a community together...
That's cool and all, but not the kind of movie I like, or would have gone to see had I known...
After seeing Science of Sleep, I think if Gondry could have merged the visuals (and the amount of them used) of that movie, with the heart of this movie, you could have a winner... I didn't like either film because they came up short on both ends of the extreme.

Not bad cover art also.
Like a poster above said, if you saw the trailer, you basically saw all the funny.

You all who diss this movie don't know what you're talking about!
C'mon, it's got a Pete Hammond blurb on the front cover, so it must be good!

Where the hell did you pay $10 to see this movie?
One of the best reviewed comedies of the year? Hahahahah
That cover art is the theatrical poster.
See the trailer twice and you've seen the movie. And that is some bad cover art!
I disagree, I thought the film was a lot of fun. I will agree that some of it was weak, but it certainly wasn't horrible.
This movie was horrible. No fun gags, it took off really slow, and it was a waste of $10. If you liked the trailer you will be crushed.
