But what about the extras? Only the cartoons?
I might upgrade this one. I got the original DVD for cheap anyway (and I hate the flipper disc it's on).

Goes for any film though doesn't it?

ooooo it'll have one of those slip covers like I Am Legend and the Pirate movies...fancy.
but i guess those cartoon episodes truly are the only extras? thats a pity. wasnt expecting 4hrs of behind the scenes extras but with the "anniversary" title you'd think there would be some nice little documentary or featurette with people involved looking back or something.
oh well...its a great movie, one i surprisingly never owned in any format, VHS included, so its a definate buy for me.

I always love remembering that Alec Baldwin is in this movie...and few people seem to acknowledge that.
Blu-ray artwork added...
I.ve been waiting for this a long time

Has anyone noticed the similarities between Keaton's make-up in this and Terrence Stamp's in "Toby Dammit?"
I find the parallels to be pretty striking. Beetlejuice's make-up is less an exact double of what Fellini did earlier but I definitely get the sense that Burton used that look as a base from which he built on.

I was going to buy the regular version, but now I'm glad I waited. I will be buying this one.

There's a such version with that omitted? That's AWFUL! I know the TV versions took it out along with the following 'honking crotch' scene but certain home videos as well?
I recently watched Beetlejuice on DVD(snap case) and I'm really glad WB has finally gotten around to release a special edition. Big bonus points for using the original artwork as the front cover. I'm sure extras won't be a let down considering it's 2 discs.

People, the lame extras!! Regardless of the artwork!!
Considering that's my favourite line from the movie, I hope so too.
Hopefully this won't be mastered from the same print that omitted the "Nice f**king model!" line.
Count me in as one who is glad they used the cover art. I have always like that one. I am tempted to buy this, we shall see.
love it when they keep the good artwork. no fuss. will consider buying this.
Although, yeah, same artwork, it is good artwork. Good for them. Even though I don't already own this, some more features would be spiffy.
image3 doesn't show.
Well I'm glad they didn't mess up the coverart lol.

Now we have people complaining cause studios use the original poster art?
i was just coming to mention how amazing it is that they actually ARE using the original poster art...i mean, this must be the first time in a loooooong time this has happened..lol
i mean they didnt just use the original VHS art (since those sometimes differed from posters) but they actually used the old theatrical poster art...color me impressed.
oh and "deluxe edition" ? .....i hope this means those arent the complete specs. i've accepted "special edition" when there was much but to call it deluxe...that implies theres more so here's hoping.

YES! Finally....Beetlejuice on Blu-ray!
There are no 'special features', three episodes of the cartoon are NOT special features...LAME AGAIN...ugh, I guess I'll pick up the normal release...
I can understand Spielberg's reluctance to do commentary, though I would love for him to do them. He wants to keep the "magic" of the movie in place. The one thing he has done is go to great lengths to make sure his movies have indepth making of features, which is what I was hoping for here with Beetlejuice. I can understand Burton having the same mindset as Spielberg and others, but damn, give us a little something in the making of department on this.

OK. Will have to check this one out!
I actually caught this on HDnet Movies a while back and I remember thinking the picture looked really good for a film of its age... I don't know if they were broadcasting a remastered version or not.
I have been waiting for a Blu-Ray release of this! I've owned it on BetaMax and VHS, but never on DVD... someone's excited...
"If you don't let me gut out this house and make it my own, I WILL GO INSANE AND TAKE YOU WITH ME!"

Maybe I might double dip - gotta wait for the extras but
So he did one for the HD-DVD of "Charlie & the Chocolate Factory"? Interesting. I read somewhere that the Batman DVDs would be his last time recording a commentary. So when there wasn't one for the "Charlie..." dvd release or "Sweeney Todd" I actually thought that was true.
What's this about Burton not recording commentaries? He might not enjoy doing it, but he's done it for almost all his films.
Here are the films he's done commentaries for:
¤ Pee-Wee's Big Adventure (DVD)
¤ Batman (SE DVD)
¤ Edward Scissorhands (10th Anniversary SE DVD)
¤ Batman Returns (SE DVD)
¤ Ed Wood (SE DVD)
¤ Sleepy Hollow (DVD)
¤ Planet of the Apes (2-Disc SE DVD)
¤ Big Fish (DVD)
¤ Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (HD DVD)

About damn time...
You hate the movie, but you're buying the DVD exclusively for the cartoon episodes...
Just when you think you've heard it all.

Sadly I'm in the minority couldn't stand the movie but will be buying ti for the three cartoon episodes. Loved that show!
"We've come for your daughter, Chuck!"
Can't wait, this title is definitely high on my nostalgic list. Oh yeah, and it only has one of the best opening credit themes EVER. Danny Elfman is a frickin' genius!

Like others I am disappointed by the lak of extras. I do love this movie though, so will give it consideration when the release date nears. I do like the "day-o" scene, always gives me a chuckle.
FINALLY!
I thought this would never happen.
The current DVD has the worst picture quality in my collection by far. It really looks bad.
Remaster: One of my favourite words.
HOORAY!

About freaking time!
blu for me.
I was going through Burton's filmography on IMDB to add films to my wish list recently and I had to leave this and Pee-wee's Big Adventure off of it. Now I can add this to it. The extras are a disappointment though. From what I've read, Burton doesn't like to do commentaries, but at least a cast or crew commentary would be nice. The remastered presentation is a draw though. I never watched the cartoon show, so that could be fun too. By the way, directors like Spielberg, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Burton need to get over their commentary aversion. I want to know what went into making their films firsthand. F**king secretive b***hes.
i have been waiting for this movie to come out delux for awhile finally i will have it
Oh, I'm so buying it! Freaking love this movie.
Finally!!! Let's hope that all the features have yet to be revealed. Keaton & Burton commentary anyone??
OMG FINALLY a Beetlejuice SE that we've all waited for for years!!! and...that's all we get, yeah I'll stick with the original DVD I have in a keep case.
At least we're getting a new transfer, but this is yes, just as disappointing extras-wise as Poltergeist & the Ace Ventura 3-disc set (which only had new cartoon extras)
www.TVshowsondvd.com says the Blu-Ray will have a soundtrack sampler as well with the release.

Deluxe?? There's nothing deluxe about this edition. Remember when a billing like that meant that there actually were some solid extras on the dvd? This is just another lazy release from Warner like last year's 'Poltergeist'. "Ey, do we have some kind of "extras" to put on that new Beetlejuice dvd? No, just throw some of those cheap cartoons on it. Now they at least can't call it a 'vanilla disc'.
I know Tim Burton isn't that keen on commentaries and stuff but they could at least gather together some of the actors for some kind of retrospective doc. Wasted opportunity!

We want more extras on the Beetlejuice BD and a Mars Attacks! SE BD release Warner! Why not throw in a Pee-Wee's Big Adventure BD release as well!? Hope you're reading this!
Mars Attacks! is one of my absolute favorite Burton films, it always gives me a good laugh! Mars Attacks! is a a classic!

Don't be mean with the extras, Warner!
oh my yes, mars attacks SE would rock. its the reason i never bought it, figured a better edition would come.
you know come to think of it, most of Burton's movies were through WB, im surprised they never attemped a box set of them all.

Glad I waited.
I second the request for a Mars Attacks SE. Beetlejuice and Mars Attacks were released on DVD in '97 & '98...It's been 10 years since the DVD's were released, and they are great sellers! An upgrade is long overdue.
Hopefully it has a cast commentary.
Finally!!
just sad to see the lack of interesting special features.
Now where is the "Mars Attacks!" special, deluxe, collector's or 2-disc edition.

Been waiting for this one for a long time.
Well I've been asking for this for a very long time, and while I appreciate the remastered video, I am quite disappointed that there aren't any making-of featurettes etc. Oh well, this is probably all we're gunna get so I guess I'll finally bite.
Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice
Yes! FINALLY! It's about time they announced this, We've been awaiting this for a LONG time!
YES! I knew it! I've held off buying this movie for years in hopes of a special edition, I'm so glad I did!
But is all were getting the cartoon episodes? I mean, the show was great, but comeon.

I own the old flipper-snapper, so now I'll probably get the Blu-ray. Fingers crossed for more extras.
How about the Daylight Come and Me Wanna Go Home version.
This is a good add to the collection. But what's the dealio on the extras? There should be trailers, bloopers and interviews from press junkets, at least. I just don't get it sometimes but who knows maybe more info is on its way.

I may upgraded, I have the old flipper case. The improved picture would be nice. I hope they announce some special features. It's not like the stars of this film have anything better to do.
count me in the "down own yet" crowd.
i'm actually surprised since i've always liked it and would usualy watch it when on tv. i had it recorded on a VHS tape though, oh the 80s..lol
as for the extras, i do hope there's something more. i mean why call it an anniversary edition if you have nothing on there to celebrate said anniversary.....sure Poltergeist pulled the same c**p but yeah.

yeah i actually dont own this either, im picking it up.
Not to sound greedy............but that is all we get? Granted the film being remastered is the main draw. But beyond that all we get is a few of the toons?
Blu Ray... holler.
me to...time to pick it up
I love this movie! And I don't own it yet! NICE!
I liked this movie. And I'm going to buy the deluxe edition.
