* Beasts of Burdern [7 mins]
* Art of Beowulf [5 mins]
* Deleted Scenes [13 mins]
So another huge letdown by Paramount and Zemekickis concerning the dvd just like the Polar Express dvd that could have all the features and the movie on just one disc. They're doing this so that we pay more for weak features or go buy the better hd dvd edition. I think that I will wait a couple of months and then buy it for like very cheap price.
Both Editions are one disc. Also, they are the same price, so nobody is getting ripped off.

would the HD-DVD work on a 32" (81 cm) 720p HDTV/DVD Combo
The Region 2 covers are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.
I am really looking forward to the Director's Cut. Hopefully it's at least 10 minutes longer. Sure the theatrical cut wasn't great, but it is the best Beowulf film ever made thus far.
I just listened to the soundtrack again, too; it kicks arse. LOVE Silvestri...

Decent artwork. But I like the artwork for the Director's cut better.
A definite blind buy for the Unrated Director's Cut for sure
Spartans! I mean, Beowulf!

I saw this one in the theater, and loved it. If you have not seen it and expext it to be just like the poem, you will be a little let down. The original cut could not pass for PG-13, which the studio pushed for. The Director's Cut will probably have more blood and nudity and will definetly be longer. I will be getting the director's cut on DVD then trade it when the blu ray comes out

I'm just glad the film is being released by Warner Bros in the UK and on Blu Ray (everyone knows HD DVD is a "dead format" ) !
I am disappointed it is not being released in 3-D ( I'm still hoping Jaws 3 and Spacehunter will get released in 3-D sometime...).

Angelina Jolie missing on the cover to make it perfect

Blu-ray IS NOT region free...and for the $11 I spent on the theatre to see this dissapointing movie, NOT worth it...
I wonder if the Director's Cut will be much different. My guess that the added blood on the DC covers will not be in the film.
who puts a 3.5-star review on their cover? This film had good reviews, it should've found SOMETHING. Or it should've just had the quote.

Yeah but that was the trailer bit, not the actual film per say. In the Theatrical trailer we see a lot of elements that were similar to 300, thats what had people compare it to 300, but when Beowulf was released and people acknowleged it they realize that they were wrong.

You are talking about Blu-Ray winning that is backed by the company who made SACD, Mini discand of course beta..... I know it is a little ahead but you never know....

how stupid comment is that ?! one can watch HD DVDs as longs one wants and player works ... it do not depend if new titles are not manufactured. ones you got are still watchable ... and isn`t HD player good for DVDs too ?

I will probably get it, I missed it in the theaters.
Well, for starters, they added blood spatters to Beowulf's face on the box art.
Man, I would've loved to be at that design meeting.

Kind of, yeah. Which is sad as this was in production before "300" was. The "I am Beawulf" line reminded me too much of "This is Sparta".

This was a very good movie. Sure, not great but not all movies are great but this was very entertaining. The 3D animation was superb and the story telling was definitely also very good. The DC should provide enough extra stuff to make it worth while. The animation was very video game like which I enjoyed quite a bit. Some top stars were also in this like Anthony Hopkins, Angelina Jolie and Crispin Glover who was excellent as Grendel. I think it's definitely worth checking out if you haven't.
Man, this is a movie that's going to SUCK on DVD. The 3D in theater was mighty cool, but if it wasn't in 3D I'd be bored to death.
Really liked this film in 3-D.
Can't wait to see the Director's Cut!

i wanted to see this. i hear the director's cut is a much better picture, it includes a clearer vision of what Zemenkis wanted us to see. Ill be intrested to pick up this film.
Decent artwork for both, I'll pick up the director's cut.
Ugh, I hated this.
UK sites have this down for Blu Ray release by Warner, so it'll be region free.

Since im very impatient I will buy the Directors Cut and when it gets released on blu I will snag it.
Ehh, I'll prolly pass. A friend told me it looked/sounded and sorta ripped off "300." Looked pretty good, but then let's face it, I'm not sure if I want to see the movie. Just not that interested. I'm still waiting for "August Rush." When's that going to be out on DVD?
I never thought I would see the day when a Robert Zemeckis film was bad, but here we are. This blew. Bob, how could you?

Oh enough already! Paramont would want to stay HD DVD!!!!!!
This was the funnest ride of CGI work this year all round. Specially on IMAX 3D, HD DVD for me.
Can't wait to see what the cover looks like.
I said "if" they switch to Blu-ray.
And what's your reason for why they would want to stay?

I read somewhere in an interview with the folks at THX that they were prepping the certification for the new Indiana Jones movie on home video, but it was Blu-ray certification. Take from that what you will.
Yeah, but Spielberg prefers Blu-Ray, and all of his films, no matter the studio apparently, will be released on Blu Ray eventually.

You people talking about waiting for the blu-ray have no idea when that will be. I'm format neutral, and will happily pick this up on HD DVD.
I hadn't noticed the director's cut...so even more suckiness...ugh...
Wondered when DVDActive was gonna get the scoop on this. Saw news for this somewhere else a couple weeks ago. Can't remember where though...
I wish they would release the HD-DVD or original version in 3-D . I know 3-D works on DVD. I have it on one of my Nightmare on Elm Street DVD's
Didn't like it.The animation was a step backwards from Polar Express and the story didn't grab me.The final scene with the dragon was amazing though.
This was pretty decent. I like that all the major points of the poem were preserved. The rest had some originality to it. I will definitely buy the director's cut.
And that sci fi update with Lambert was horrible. Beowulf & Grendel was just as bad.
I did write a review for this version and submitted it to a few local newspapers. It was printed in two, and I have a guest column as a film reviewer in one of them whenever I want to submit something.

Quote: They couldn't find a single review with 4 full stars? That's kind of sad. They probably could have, but a 3 & 1/2 star review from Peter Travers at Rolling Stone carries a bit more weight than a 4 star review from Joe Schmo.

You know the extra material for the HD-DVD could go on the regular DVD. The extra extras on the HD-DVD doesn't make me happy.
Artwork added...
The movie was a letdown, the 3D was okay, but the overall animation was really good. Not a purchase for me.
hd dvd for me, though the movie was pretty good, the imax 3d experience was awesome! Cant wait to see this in high def.
One questions, is this movie 1.85 or 2.35?

I'm also going to wait until this comes out on Blu-Ray.
I would love to own the HD-DVD version but I don't see the point when the whole industry is going blue after May 31st. thats when Warner Bros. and Universal are officially done with HD. Not sure when Paramount is dropping HD though, probably the same time....shame, I prefered HD-DVD.
I didn't catch this one in theaters. But I'm tired of Director's cut! Although it does sound pretty good. That's a lot of extras for a one disc DVD or is 2?
i feel sorry for all you people who bought hd players and movies in a couple months they will be worthless like beta tapes the movie in 3d was awesome i hope in the future they will have players and tv's that can bring out the 3d just like the movie
I'll buy the director's cut even if the normal dvd is only 1 disc. Once again, high definition dvds gets more features. But I'm pretty sure that Best Buy or Future Shop will have an exclusive bonus disc when it comes in stores that will contain some of the HD DVD features.

I'll wait till Paramount goes Blu. Not that I've gone Blu OR HD yet, but I'm about to bail on purchasing any more DVDs of any kind at all until the format thing is settled. I'm still on the fence, but starting to feel pretty Blu.
I'm going to have to pass on this one. There is only one Beowulf.....and that is Christopher Lambert. Just see for yourself below.

Where's the Blu Ray release? I thought that I read somewhere that Paramount was jumping the HD-DVD ship just like WB.
looking forward to the HD-DVD release, a definate purchase.
