Well, basically I said that people's not wanting to buy this full-price has nothing to do with the transfer itself, or the effort and money put into it--it's just that nobody cares all that much about the movie. Like, if this were news about some perfect, almighty Criterion Blu-ray release of The Devil Inside, I'm sure that people still wouldn't feel obligated to buy it, despite the effort put into the release. If somebody doesn't like a movie, they don't buy it. If they only sorta liked it, they buy it for less. It's not selfishness, it's just decent money management.
And I've already stated that I'm not saying this should be released for 7 bucks, I totally understand the 20 dollar release--I'm just saying that I, personally, will wait. As I only vaguely enjoyed this movie.

I think some people think HD remastering involves pushing the 'look better' button.

Yeah...how about those Alliance discs? Do they really count? Be honest.

This will probably be only about $10 at Wal-Marts in such. That's good enough for me.

glad to see it has all the dvd extras, they were awesome and there was so much. hopefully this means the other two movies have all of theirs as well. and its nice to see that Part 3 has the unrated version. i know most think its a pile o c**p but while i agree its the lesser and a step down, i still like it. lol
oh and check that out, all 3 movies have their original dvd art..color me surprised they didnt make some lame quickie photoshop thing. lol
i wish i lived in america where i could complain that 20$ is a lot. come to canada where new releases are 27 and up most of the time. though catalogue titles are getting better so we might get this for 20 or lower as well but yeah...when i see americans complain about dvd/blu prices, i just have to laugh at how cheap they got it. lol

I mean, why bother spending money to create a new HD master if no one is going to buy the disc and you're going to lose a ton of money? You lot are spoiled, baulking at a £12/£13 title...
Nope. I mean, it'd be one thing if we said, "this movie is old, and therefore inferior--burn it!" I've nothing against catalogue releases--I own many a black and white movie on Blu-ray. My reason for wanting this to reach the bargain bin is that it's not that good a movie.
And I'm not saying it should be released as a 5-dollar thing, I'm saying I'll wait until then to buy it.

I remember back in 1987, when Star Trek IV first came out on VHS, it was $29.99 ... and that's probably $40 or more in today's dollars. This price for Blade II is peanuts compared to that. And Amazon, et. al. will certainly offer a discount. I agree with Chris on this.
I think the merits of lower price points versus higher sales is an interesting discussion
To my mind the lower the initial sale price the more likely it is that people will be willing to spend their hard earned money, and given the state of the world economy most of us are looking to get a perceived bargain when ever possible.
Personally I think the magic price points should be £5 for a DVD and £10 for a BR.
Anything above £10 for a BR and I'm likely to pass.

Yes you are. Not that it has any bearing on the price of the title above, but Paramount BDs are always more expensive (as as Disney). They are, however, the exceptions not the rule. Most studios now release titles at reasonable prices and the majority of discs are further discounted so that they go for around £15 on the week of release. The sort of money these are going for is perfectly reasonable given the cost of DVDs in their heyday (I paid more than this for the R1 Blade II DVD). Keep in mind that people generally don't pay the SRP, so they will probably end up being sub-£10 titles. Those above are saying they're going to wait until this is $5, so a little over £3. What studio in its right mind is going to bother releasing titles if that's all they can expect to receive for their effort? X thousands on a new transfer, marketing and production costs... they all add up.
People wanting things at bargain basement prices is the reason Fright Night only got a limited 3000 copy release at $29.99 (or whatever it was). Take a look at Amazon UK's coming soon list. Barring the odd Paramount and Disney title the majority of discs are around the price I mentioned and some are way under.
I won't argue that some are overpriced (the ones you mention in fact), but on the whole Blu-ray is cheaper at this stage in its life-cycle than DVD was.

Are we really? I disagree. Why not lower the price of BR's to something more reasonable and see if sales increase overall? I've never understood the reason why some BR's start out at such a high price, it must result in lower sales.
For instance I want to pick up Thor and Captain America but both BR's are selling for around £18! and that's on the internet. I don't know about anyone else but £18 is not the kind of money I'm happy to casually spend on movies. So I'm refusing to buy them. If I could get both for £18 then I'd snap them up right now.

That's actually a pretty low SRP.
Charging this much is stretching your luck a bit, WB... I'll stick with my DVD until it reaches the $10 bin or less.
As great as Luke Goss is in this, and as nice the visuals are, I think I'm safe sticking with the DVD until this ends up in the 5-dollar bin or something. I mean, it is a good movie and all. But, eh.
