There was a Blade series?!

#1, No way is the premiere episode worth $20. Truth be told, with the limited episodes, I'm not sure if the entore season is worth #20, Uncensored or not!
#2 Spike could have had a hit here, but I think they softened the show to appeal to all cable markets, but a show like this should have been "Rough Rugged and Raw", SPIKE, YOU PLAYED YOURSELVES!
#3 Stinky Fingers, was the wrong casting choice for this role. He was a d level rapper and had zero skills as an actor.
#4, J wagner was totaly hot! She may not be worth $20 for a single episode, but I have to admit I'd pay $20 just to see her scenes on demand.
while the package should have contained all the episodes in one package. The entire season is easily worth $40 - $50 even with the limited number of episodes. In essence the show was one big story threaded from episode to episode and written extremely well.
Spike could have had a hit here and given the good word of mouth from those who have actually seen all the episodes. Spike really screwed the pooch as I'm sure the show would have been a massive success given a second season.
Sticky fingerz while maybe not the most talented actor certainly was the perfect choice for the role. It took a few episodes but he really found the character right. The only thing missing was a chance to have some quality choreographed action sequences like from the big screen movies. Except on a TV budget they had neither the time or money.
Overall Blade the TV series is a very, very good show that should not be judged on the first few episodes but the entire show. Blade TV and Daybreak were the two best sci-fi/fantasy shows this year, in fact they were the best 2 TV dramas full stop.

I really liked what I saw of the show (the first 3 episodes), but then my schedule changd and I couldn't see the rest of the season (I don't have a DV-R like most people). From what I heard it got extremely cool in it's final few episodes and I'm sorry I missed them.
As for this pilot disc... I'll wait for the full season before I purchase it... maybe on Blu-Ray?

I can't believe that those with negative opinions actually bothered to watch more than a couple of episodes! Blade TV was a fantastic series that threaded together into one big story. It was well written, well acted and once past the early hiccups of the premiere pilot movie Blade TV gets better and better with each and every episode .
I think it's unfortunate that they are testing the water as the pilot movie doesn't do the entire series Justice. They definitely should have released it as one box-set.

If Blade is not poitrayed by Wesley Snipes, forget about it, Steve

I thought he was pretty good as Blade.

couldn't get into the show. I was glad it was staked. loved the first two films. mixed about Trinity. Hated what I saw of the series.
I actually enjoyed the series. Sticky Fingaz the last 5 or so episodes was vastly improved from the first part of the season. He wasn't Snipes, but started to really get into the character. I thought the supporting cast was very strong for the series. My biggest complaint was that they would throw in stories/characters which would lead absolutely nowhere. Randy Quaid's character from the pilot is an example. His character was very interesting but we didn't see him again. The member's of Blades old gang came in for one episode and were gone, never to be seen again.
It did push the envelope BIG TIME when it comes to what was shown and said. Every cuss word other than the F-bomb was used and there were some pretty graphic scenes of carnage and sex for a show that was on a non-premium basic cable channel.
I will not pick this up. The full season perhaps.

Man, there is a lot of Blade haters here. I for one enjoyed the series and was upset that they had canceled the series. As someone mentioned before, the Sci-Fi channel should have picked this up instead. As for this release, I'm going to pass on it because I just rather buy the complete season instead.

Judge for yourself. I found the entire series much more entertaining than Trinity.

I consider myself a Blade fan. I have the movie trilogy set, but I heard nothing but terrible things about the TV show. Crow: Stairway to Heaven was probably better than that tripe.
Old Sticky seems to be the kiss of death for shows. First Over There,(which was okay), and now Blade,(which wasn't).

Rental.
Snipes didn't get to portray the character on the series because he was an arrogant asshole on the set of the third film and then apparently demanded a ridiculous amount to reprise the role for a planned fourth film and the subsequent TV show. Not too smart, considering that franchise was the only non-DTV work he was doing at that point.
I also have problems picking up "primere episode only" DVD's. I would encourage everyone to buy only full seasons. It will keep everyone from getting double dipped.
i liked this show, but i don't think the ratings it had would metit releasing the pilot on its own.
Will this feature an extended ending to wrap up the pilot ala "Twin Peaks" or will this have an abrupt "to be continued..." like the actual t.v. pilot?
A year later after the series had already debuted and been cancelled... Yup, that makes sense...
Its like this.

In the show they say it like "Kath-hon".
Hope that helps.

I agree with Don. I really dug the show while it was on. And not to say this is a big surprise, but it was MUCH better than Trinity.
Oh, and for those of you in the U.S. and with HDNet, Blade:The Series premieres this Monday night.

The effects were actually pretty good for a cable-budgeted show. The ashing effects for when he'd slay a vampire were just as good as the movies, if not beter.

Yeah, it looked pretty lame. No thanks.
No thanks.A waste of money and waste of time.
yeah this was pretty bad.....but my love for the Blade series will make me buy the full series when that eventually comes. its like The Crow, i LOVE the first movie, love it so much that i watched and even recorded every episode of the tv series and will buy the dvd coming out soon...even though i thought the show was pretty bad...my obsession is making me, so it'll be the same for Blade..lol
i only saw the first 4 or 5 episodes but did they ever explain why Blade suddenly sported a shaved head? cuz that took a while to get used to. lol

Didn't the last season of 24 do 35 million with its premiere? Not interested.
well you gotta realize, Spike is a MUCH smaller network and its a cable network so not everybody gets it. so 2.5 probably is a lot for them. Its sorta like the WB and UPN and now CW...they probably average 2-5 million on their hit shows and while thats s**t compared to the major networks, its a lot for them.
not excusing the show here, it was bad but yeah. lol

This was freakin' awful. Snipes isn't the best actor in the world, but Blade was HIS role and Fingaz just does a laughable impression. Even the dialogue gribs numerous lines from the films,( "I'm something else" ).Poor!
I'm surprised they're not just releasing a "Blade: The Complete Series" DVD set. Of course, I'm also surprised that the Sci-Fi Channel hasn't pick up the show, either.
Oh please....this is as stupid as FX releasing the pilot episode of "Over There", which ironically starred Sticky Fingaz as well.
I'm just hoping that this "unrated" version will be on the eventual season set.
The series lasted for 13 episodes and had somewhat of a cliff-hanger, but then was cancelled (or wasn't picked up for another season) after that. The cliff-hanger, however, was conclusive enough for the story told in the 13 episodes that it did have, so not getting a second season isn't a killer, no pun intended.

Don't buy this! The whole Blade series is "episodic" and every episode "to be continued". You don't get a full story with the first episode, only the set up for the series.
I'll pass for now and pick up the whole series when it comes out.
Yes it was cancelled pretty early. Didn't see one episode. I'm wondering how "UNRATED" it will be.

"Hit TV series"? Didn't this get axed already?
