Well, you are the authority on all things great, so I don't think I like this movie any more either. Thanks ZIZZOU-FAN.
I love this film!
Strange how it gets released on my mum's birthday!
I wonder what extras will be on the disc.

I'm not sure why Zizzou's post is so great,
I almost fell asleep reading it...
but the spelling and punctuation errors kept me awake.

(Queue dramatic classical music score)
It has begun, the day of reconning is afoot. Repent. Repent.
But seriously, finally. This flawed masterpiece is one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time.

I have actually not seen if, will have to pick the theatrical version I guess. Don't want to start with zie DC.
Will this be a remastered print? I'm sure there won't be any extras on this. One of all time favorites. Can't wait for the new cut/box set next year.

Yes.
Yes.
I think this might be a two disc release Warner was planning before all the rights issues got cleared that made the thrid disc SE possible.
I so can't wait for this masterpiece of sci-fi noir. It's been a long wait and if the rumours are true that the extras will be unique to each release I may have to pick up both.
I will probably do this anyway just in case the 3-Disc SE goes belly up.

i guess this is not my type of movie. sure, it is well made and the performances are great but I just didn't like it

Oct. 9th is my mom's birthday too. And I love BR as well! :O

I thought it was going to be a 4-disc set, not 3?
Honestly, what is so great about this movie? In all my 21 years of watching good films, bad films, interesting films, boring films, etc, I nodded off a few times and appeared that I didn't miss anything watching this movie. And I must add that I have NEVER EVER fallen asleep whilst watching a movie...and then I watched this and now my streak is broken.
After all the great things I heard about this movie, I'm sorely disappointed...HIGHLY OVERRATED

You falling asleep aside, what did you find so boring?
Just curious.

My guess is that there wasn't enough Michael Bay style editing.

There were long periods of silence and scenery, not much of a story that had me enthralled, the sound was horrible (it was on one of the movie channels) and was pretty much a forgettable movie overall.
I guess I really didn't understand much of it either...

I'm sure this won't help my case at all, but another "great" sci fi film that I recently tried watching for extra credit for Film class was 2001: A Space Odyssey.
After 20 minutes of watching and seeing I had 2 hours and 10 minutes to go, I decided that it wasn't worth the 5 extra credit points...(sheepishly smiles)
I guess I am no "true" sci fi fan, only for the action sci fi flicks, I guess.

I think Matt may be right.
I heard WB could re-release BR back in theaters sometime in 2007 for its 25th anniversary but I think this is total bulls**t!

I may be wrong here, but I don't think the theatrical cut of this film is availible on DVD...yet. I think all the releases of the film is the director's cut.

Yes but what about the UBER DIRECTORS CUT where everything is UBER and in CAPS LOCKS. UBER RUNNER!
Lets hope they do a good job with the print. A great movie and I for one have waited for this for ages...
Ooooooooh, look at all the movie police pointing the finger at the people that don't like this film. It's an opinion, dweebs, get over it!! The only 'Best' category this film exists in, is the 'Best Cure For Insomnia' section. I think Scott has done far better work than this over the years, and if he himself couldn't stay awake during a screening, then so what if I had a kip during it!!
For those having trouble comprehending/staying awake viewing 2001 or BLADE RUNNER:
RUN, dont walk, to your Doctor to perscribe for you Ritalin (Adderall) then RUN, dont walk, to your Chemist (Pharmacy)to pick it up.
Todays television, with its quick cuts, MTV and other mindless drivel have rotted your brains and killed your attention span.
Its called ADD, and its not pretty.
I too, am empathetic with those who need to see several car chases, crashes/gunfights/exploding things/haveing the plot explained to you via exposition/girls in bikini thongs, and cleavage about 15 times per minute of the film, or you are bored.
Some films try to set mood, to allow you to BE there, or feel the world being created-or to fill in some of the details YOURSELF..
Also, like a 95% completed Jigsaw puzzle, some movies try to get you to figure out where the last few pieces go, rather than having you sit there transfixed, and passively entertained like a pet rock.
Im not saying you should rent War and Peace, or Citizen Kane all the time,
but geeze-try to expand your horizons beyond ERNEST GOES BANNANAS, or
the latest Vin Deisel/Paris Hilton pic.
And verily, verily I say unto you, woe be it unto those who rent Tarkovsky's STALKER, or SOLARIS, and have not been cured of the affliction of ADD, for he haveth no future in the Lords coming world...

I wish I could be a movie policeman. Unfortunately, while being able to legally beat up fans of "Boondock Saints" would be funm, it would also more than likely be pretty pointless which is why I was in all earnestness trying to figure out why someone didn't like it instead of saying, "Hey, c**p for brains! Why don't like you like quality movies, McC**ppington? Oh and by the way: you have c**p for brains!" I don't care that much if you have a differing opionion; I just want to know more than, "I hate movie!"
...just as long as they didn't like the Star Wars prequels.
though seriously, Boondock Saints is s**t. And I think a lot of enjoying film is enjoying what older films brought to the medium (though classifying Bladerunner as an 'older' film is pushing it). Without Bladerunner, we wouldn't have Batman Begins, because visually that's the look Nolan was going for. Even people who didn't like Bladerunner have to understand its additions to modern film language.

"SLEEP PERCHANCE TO DREAM" I can't believe that the whole reason for this film to exist is in this very room and no one is getting it. What do these manufactured beings want? The film is attempting to answer some very complex questions about life and consciousness, "I THINK THEREFORE I AM" AND IT IS ALL GOING OVER EVERYONES HEADS. HINT: Isn't falling asleep one of the elements defining organic life? Nevermind dreaming! The very end of the film speaks volumns. Does anyone remember what it was all about? Oh yes, perhaps for those who fell asleep during the film your brain was trying to tell you something. I wonder what it was?
BEN DOVER is right. For those of you who fell asleep during Blade Runner and 2001, run out and get some drugs. Yes, that is the trick. "I'm high therefore I am". I like it. It is definitely the answer to this existential question.

I recently saw the DC on one of the high definition movie channels, and if that's the print they're going with--which I can't imagine it isn't--then you have absolutely no worries as they've really done a fanatastic job in cleaning it up.
