The Douglass Trumbull directed film will be available to own from the 3rd February, and should retail at around $19.97. The movie process was almost a forerunner to Imax, where the image expands at certain stages to maximize the field of vision and make sequences more encompassing.
By the way: the original UK video rental art was particularly stunning, and a pity they don't use that for it.

BTW, I like the cover. This movie never had a decent movie poster or DVD cover before. And yes, shame on you WB for not releasing this on BD. Although, with WB's track record lately. They surely would have effed up the picture quality. Like other older titles recently ("Interview with the Vampire" and "L.A. Confidential"

I'll think about Brainstorm for right now. Although I hated that it was Natalie Wood's final film, which was released 2 years after her death.

Good film. Well acted. Interesting premise. Follow through fell short in my cinematic opinion. If you haven't seen it, you should and enjoy some great performances.
I have the original DVD. Was really hard to find. I don't think it is anamorphic. I would maybe upgrade if it was on Bluray. Great film.
Natalie Wood died before the film was completed. She had three or four very pivotal scenes that hadn't been shot yet. So the film was put on hold for a while until they could figure out what to do. In the end, one or two scenes were filmed using a body double (shot from behind). And I think they rewrote to other scenes. That's why it took so long to release the film. It was very sad and bittersweet when I finally saw the movie in the theater.
Not funny because it's old, or not funny because it's in bad taste? It's been twenty years - am I not allowed a little gallows humour?
Bad cover art, and a sad movie. Not sad as in the movie itself makes me sad (I haven't even seen it), but it's basically her last...before she wound up mysteriously dead the same night she was traveling on a boat with him, her husband Robert Wagner, and their skipper. Accident nothing, I say.
Have only seen bits of this - forgot Natalie Wood's last film as well - I should at least rent it...
Excellant SF film from 1983. At that time, Christopher Walken was 3rd billed behind Natalie Wood and Cliff Robertson

She had 2 weeks left of filming before she died.

It was very hard for me to watch this film when it first came out but I had to see it cause it was Natalie's last. I have always loved her she was one of my favorite actresses but i never for one minute believed her death to be accidental. She was always terrified of water as an early child and she would never be on deck alone on her yacht. in my heart I believe someone on board had something to do with it. Natalie died way to young. i know her girls missed having a mother growing up but she left behind a lot of wonderful movies to remember her by. i will buy the brainstorm special edition when it comes out but im not sure i can watch it again. So long my love to Natalie.

This movie had a great impact on me when I first saw it on the big screen, there was a classical piece of music they played and it got stuck in my mind for almost 15 years. Then I discovered that it was from Schubert "Die Forelle".
And the idea with what will happen after you die is also very good.
I just have to wait a bit longer to own it on Blu-Ray...
