Will Netflix it when I'm in the mood. Mel Gibson is a good and decent actor.

I grew up with this film and have only really just started to discover the hate that many people have for it. In my eyes it's still a fantastic film with a great ending. Sure Gibson's tainted it with his personality now, but the battle scene's are some of the finest around.
Never got around to getting the DVD, so I'll probably scoop this one up.
I guess Mel's soon-to-be ex-wife will be getting half of the revenue generated from this release. Sorry, I couldn't resist......

The artwork's a bit underwhelming, but it could be a blank white box for all I care, this film is long overdue!....
Okay....I see what Paramount is trying to do. Their just calling them "Sapphire Series" because their prestigious titles that have received multiple Academy Awards, including Best Picture for all three films announced (Braveheart, Gladiator, Forrest Gump). So is them basically saying "Academy Series" only lamer. Fox/MGM and Universal/Focus did this a couple of years ago for their Oscar winning films on DVD's, they were only coming with a slipcover, AND with a much more adequate edition title!
I will watch this as at the heart of it, it is a very entertaining movie but it can't be considered anymore than that. I don't like to be one of those people who gets picky about historical accuracy, mainly because nothing will ever beat this for inaccuracy. Past that, if done right this could be a terrific disc for Blu-Ray.
They may release this, but they'll never take MY MONEY.
If the filmmakers passion doc and Mel gibson audio commentary aren't included on this Bluray I will be quite happy to keep my definitive edition. I love the film though, classic battle sequences in it too. Plus it doesn't put a foot wrong historically either. Mel knows how it went down, The Patriot is another fine example of this

I will get this one after Gladiator. I have to pace myself.
Great.
I hope the commentary is included too.

I almost bought this the other day at Target on DVD, I knew a Blu-ray would come soon. This screams to be owned on the format, same with Gladiator and Titanic.
So they are using that Scottish mugshot pic of Mel on this again, same as the 2-disc SE DVD. Glad this is showing up on Blu-ray.
The new series thingy matches this cover pretty well. Well be buying.
WHY>??? I WANT THE ORIGINAL BRAVEHEART COVER WAY BETTER THAN THAT C**P!
wtf man i hope theres goann be a revised one with the dvd cover.

I love this movie. I am not much into these types of movies, but Braveheart is really something I love. I prefer it to Gladiator.
That said, I am not sure I want to get this so soon on Blu-ray. I have the original DVD release and it is fine till I eventually get down to it. I dont know how many more dips Paramount will have on Blu-ray, but maybe if there is another iteration, I may go for it.

I agree about the missing features. With the extreme extra space of blu-ray over dvd, they could put every feature from all previous editions with a little room to spare. Though, I disagree about the historical problems. In the 1300s, they really didn't wear kilts like we usually think they did. Sure, they did wear kilt-like garments, but they didn't really use them to make a distinction between families until about 400 years later. And if you even want to be more accurate, a lot of the time back then, they would fight naked ! Imagine the same battle scenes from the movie, only completely nude and that blue Woad on their faces covering everything.

Good movie but not worth the double dip
