Universal Home Video has announced a 2-disc director's cut (2 hours 31 minutes) of Brotherhood of the Wolf which stars Samuel Le Bihan, Vincent Cassel, Émilie Dequenne, and Monica Bellucci. The 2001 Christophe Gans directed film will be available to own from the 26th August, and should retail at around $19.98. The film itself will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. Extras will include deleted scenes, a behind the scenes documentary, production notes, storyboards and the trailer. We've attached the official package artwork below:

Wonder if Blu-Ray's coming???
The current USA DVD is the Theatrical Cut and is only 1 disc. In Canada a 3 Disc set was released that was the Director's Cut, this was later sold in America too but wasn't put out by Universal.
It was imported from Canada and put out by TVA. All extras (except the commentaries) have English subtitles.
I'd imagine that's why Universal consider it good to re-release. That said the 3 Disc version is still in stock on American websites, so why you'd want this I don't know.

I loved this film. I have the Region 1 single disk version. Very interested in this.
Hmmm, I've had the R1 disc since it came out years ago, I don't know if I can double dip on this though, I think I might, depends on how the art sells me.
I special ordered the 3-Disc Special Edtion and I love it! The film is amazing, a pastiche of genres that are all very engaging and the 3-Disc set includes two separate documentaries over one hour long each, and over 40 minutes of separate deleted scenes even though the film is over 2 and a half hours itself. It does have three commentaries but they are all in French and with no English subtitles which is frustrating. I wonder if this 2-Disc set is merely a cut-down of the 3-Disc or a newly built 2-disc set. After all, Christophe Gans, the director, speaks both English and French so he could do a commentary in English as well. Since I'm a sucker for double-dips, I'll have to wait and see what this release includes.
Fantastic film, Mark Dacascos steals the show as Mani. Bring on the BD version!!!!

Didn't care for this film. Didn't buy it then, probably won't now. Crouching Tiger is the best film I have ever read i theaters, pitdeadite.
Great news! The version I have has the extras in French.
Never got the 3-disc, so I'll pick this up. Very solid film.
Can't believe this is the same guy that The Food Network says is the "Chairman" in Iron Chef America....
Had it, sold it and not buying it again. Has a couple fantastic scenes though and I love the production value of this film though.
Still features one of the most powerful, in your face DTS tracks I have ever heard...one of the few that I actually have to turn down in certain scenes...lol, j/k.

Darkman aside I've disliked all of Raimi's work (that I've seen). Including Spider-man, Spider-man 2, Evil Dead 2.

I never bought this one so I'll likely eventually buy this version. I liked it and am interested in seeing what was added. I'll probably just rent it first when it comes out and wait until it's cheaper before I buy it.

and they dont mention mark dascascos? from what i remember, he had a pretty significant role. anyway, being french canadian this is one of those rare times where i didnt need the subtitles for a "foreign" movie, i felt special watching.
