no blu-ray? ?? ???

The cover's not bad. still falls in so-so category with the one disc cover.
I own the 3 DVD and single(that's the one I loan to friends). This one will wait, but will be on my to do list next year.(unless a great sale arrives to motivate my tight wallet).
With all the junk or puff pieces on dvd "special" editions nowadays, the 3-disc set really stands out with two full-length documentaries.
Not to go off topic here but they better not pull a fluke like Universal did with "Fearless". They still haven't responded to my e-mail.
Might blind buy.

Holy shinto! Is that for real? It's been so long since I've seen this movie (in the theatre) so I can't tell with the mask. That's awesome, Louie, you just made my day.

I have the import 3 disc version. I don't need this.

I've seen the film in the theatre and on the superb 3-disc version and they were the same movie, so I'm not sure where the claim of 'Director's Cut' on this comes from. All I can think of is that they re-integrated some of the deleted scenes into the film, but the 'Deleted Scenes' option on the disc menus above seem to contradict that.

Meh, the cover could have been worse. At least it doesn't have floating heads.
Anyway, I had a very bad history of trying to get the best edition of this on DVD - seems every version I bought was either a (bad) bootleg or from a different region. I'll welcome this with open wallet.

Artwork added - sorry about the delay!
Have the one disc and the 3 disc and will be getting this one! It's easily one of my favorite movies ever!
I'll keep my 3 disc version instead.

I never got round to getting this so maybe when the BD is released.....
Thanks.

Pitdeadite is one of the creatures from Sam Raimi's, "Army of Darkness". I also use the name as my Call of Duty handle.

...another proud owner of the amazing 3 disc set
I never bought this one so I'll likely eventually buy this version. I liked it and am interested in seeing what was added. I'll probably just rent it first when it comes out and wait until it's cheaper before I buy it.

Adding my two cents, just because...I have to say Run Lola Run is absolutely the best film I've ever read in theaters.

Darkman aside I've disliked all of Raimi's work (that I've seen). Including Spider-man, Spider-man 2, Evil Dead 2.

That would be cool. So far no DVD has the commentaries English subtitled.
It's weird they went to the effort to English subtitle all the extras on the Canadian 3 Disc SE but not the commentaries.

"Is there such a word as pitdeadite?"
There is in the world of Sam Raimi.

sweet. I don't own this movie on DVD. Now it is the time to get it.

They're likely to be French here. It's a French film

Crouching Tiger is good but it's far from the only good non-English language film ever made. Is there such a word as pitdeadite?

Still features one of the most powerful, in your face DTS tracks I have ever heard...one of the few that I actually have to turn down in certain scenes...lol, j/k.
Had it, sold it and not buying it again. Has a couple fantastic scenes though and I love the production value of this film though.
Can't believe this is the same guy that The Food Network says is the "Chairman" in Iron Chef America....
Never got the 3-disc, so I'll pick this up. Very solid film.
Great news! The version I have has the extras in French.

What about the 3 Disc version?
The 3 disc extras are pretty meaty. I doubt this 2 disc release will have all of them. I bet it will contain some of them though:

I cannot see Gans creating new English audio commentaries now.

Wow, that took long enough! Sticking with the UK Blu ray, though.
This is the best film that I have ever read in theatres.
Fantastic film, Mark Dacascos steals the show as Mani. Bring on the BD version!!!!
I special ordered the 3-Disc Special Edtion and I love it! The film is amazing, a pastiche of genres that are all very engaging and the 3-Disc set includes two separate documentaries over one hour long each, and over 40 minutes of separate deleted scenes even though the film is over 2 and a half hours itself. It does have three commentaries but they are all in French and with no English subtitles which is frustrating. I wonder if this 2-Disc set is merely a cut-down of the 3-Disc or a newly built 2-disc set. After all, Christophe Gans, the director, speaks both English and French so he could do a commentary in English as well. Since I'm a sucker for double-dips, I'll have to wait and see what this release includes.
Hmmm, I've had the R1 disc since it came out years ago, I don't know if I can double dip on this though, I think I might, depends on how the art sells me.
I loved this film. I have the Region 1 single disk version. Very interested in this.
The current USA DVD is the Theatrical Cut and is only 1 disc. In Canada a 3 Disc set was released that was the Director's Cut, this was later sold in America too but wasn't put out by Universal.
It was imported from Canada and put out by TVA. All extras (except the commentaries) have English subtitles.
I'd imagine that's why Universal consider it good to re-release. That said the 3 Disc version is still in stock on American websites, so why you'd want this I don't know.
Marc St-Clair wrote: Wonder if Blu-Ray's coming???
Not any time soon. Universal have only just got back into HD.
A HD-DVD is available in many European countries, it's barebones, is the Director's Cut and has English subtitles.

i thought that 3 disc "mega set" from a few years ago was the director's cut? guess i was wrong. lol
and they dont mention mark dascascos? from what i remember, he had a pretty significant role. anyway, being french canadian this is one of those rare times where i didnt need the subtitles for a "foreign" movie, i felt special watching.
