Title: Bruno (IMDb)

Released: 17th November 2009
SRP: $29.98 (DVD)
Further Details:
Universal Home Video has officially announced 1-disc DVD ($29.98) and 2-disc Blu-ray ($39.98) releases of Bruno which stars Sacha Baron Cohen. Each will be available to own from the 17th November. Quote: Sacha Baron Cohen (the creator and star of Borat) returns to the big screen in the hilarious adventures of Austria's favorite fashionista, Bruno. In this gleefully anarchic mockumentary, the flamboyant television host loses his homeland talk show, "Funkyzeit," and does what any self-respecting wannabe would do -- he moves to Hollywood to pursue worldwide super-stardom. From worlds of fashion and entertainment to the military, Bruno puts his worst foot forward as Baron Cohen fearlessly tramples the boundaries of good taste in ways that confound celebrities and just plain folks alike. Fans of Baron Cohen's gonzo comedy can look forward to an hour's worth of hysterical scenes not shown in theaters on both the DVD and Blu-ray versions.

Bruno wang in high-def! SOOOOOOO THERE!!!!
I thought this was largely underwhelming. There were about three scenes that had me rolling pretty good but that's not a lot for a less than 90 minute film. There's only so many dildos you can see before the "shock" wears off. Anyway, hopefully they'll put out an extended or director's cut that might have something to add, but I'm doubting it. A far cry from Borat I'm afraid...
This was ok, just not as good as Borat. I have to say, The way Bruno was presented, it seemed they went a bit too far just to get people who would otherwise probably not have a problem with homosexuals uptight and uncomfortable. I guess that was the idea, but you really have to feel bad for some of those people.
it'll contain 26 minutes of extra scenes (maybe as a seamless branched feature) and a visual commentary. that's what i heard.
So, I'm assuming the 26 extra minutes should include the LaToya Jackson prank that reportedly got cut, right after Michael Jackson died?
Overrated actor & movie
I thought it was funny but not as funny as "Borat." Either way PASS.

That's such a Samantha thing to say.

Many people dont know this though Sacha Baron Cohen is a smart guy. He is way more intelligent than people think. I will pick this up definitely on Blu-Ray. 2 Disc. Dont pick up on 1 Disc.
That is such a Samantha thing to do.

I was a bit disappointed. It's funny, but not nearly as hilarious as BORAT. I work at a video store and am not looking forward to this coming out because a lot of people will hate it and I'm not looking forward to hearing the homophobic comments (which will definitely come where I live - Brokeback Mountain brought quite a few, and Milk got some - mostly from people who didn't rent them). With BORAT we'll have people bringing it back complaining about it, I'm sure.
Might give it another shot. Rental only.
walked into my local suncoast, they have a poster advertising this for release on November 3rd.
I thought it was just as good as Borat. It just wasn't as original. Then again, I always thought Borat was really overrated.
Never thought this dude was the least bit funny, even from the Ali G jumpoff over a decade ago. He should have become a pop culture footnote years ago....
There's a reason this one tanked after its opening weekend. It's just not very funny and too much of it is half-scripted (the dominatrix at the sex club and some other scenes are clearly staged for all participants). The Bruno character is also unappealing and offensive, and not because of him being gay - he's just rude and obnoxious. On the Da Ali G show, his character was somewhat funny, but in the film, they amped up his obnoxious quotient so much that you actually feel bad for the innocent people subjected to him - instead of laughing at them. That's not good for a 'comedy' unless its a feel-bad comedy.
I must admit there were a few laughs along the way, but this DVD will surely be in the $1 bins really quick, and at $30 retail for the standard edition, Universal knows this as well and is obviously trying to make as much money as quick as possible before the floor collapses.

Over hyped and a real letdown....
But then again I thought Borat was bad too....

That is such a Samantha thing to saw. Than again, some people can't appreciate good comedy. I can see you were "Offended" by it.

really not as good as borat! but i'll give it a second chance
Yeh it was just kind of lame. I think the problem is that this "format" so to speak is wearing off. The "reality" and shock of it all. Its just getting stupid. Even borat was just mildly funny. Too often it went for cheap laughs, but we could at least have symhpathy for borat. Bruno was just damn annoying.
Going against the majority here saying I loved this movie. I agree it was not as funny as Borat, but it made me laugh, and that's what counts in a comedy.

an HOUR of deleted scenes? Im sold
Borat was a likeable character. Bruno wasn't portrayed as someone I'd want to watch for 90 minutes in any way. Didn't hear anyone say anything good about this film. If I see it, it'll be when it's free on terrestrial TV. I won't pay anything to see it, including the miniscule risk of being caught downloading it illegally.

If only every Dvd had that many hours of deleted scenes. Imagine how many there are. Maybe the scene with La Toya Jackson.

This was one of those comedies where when the jokes hit, it was achingly funny to the point where i had a headache from laughing so much. When the jokes misfired, it was painfully unfunny. I enjoyed it for the most part, not sure how it'll play a 2nd time though.
This will be a rental on blu-ray just to see all those special features but I probably won't buy it since I liked Borat even more and I didn't buy it even when I saw it for $4.99!
Never like Borat, so won't be buying this.

all you people keep saying is that this isn't nearly as funny as Borat, and, I didn't care much for that. So, I probably will hate this most definitely. Anyway, I'm not a bot, I'm a free thinker, so, I'll still give it a go and see for myself.

Pass.
