Bruno (US - DVD R1 | BD RA)
Universal Home Video has now sent over final artwork for the recent comedy
Title: Bruno (IMDb)
Starring: Sacha Baron Cohen
Released: 17th November 2009
SRP: $29.98 (DVD)
Further Details:
Universal Home Video has officially announced 1-disc DVD ($29.98) and 2-disc Blu-ray ($39.98) releases of Bruno which stars Sacha Baron Cohen. Each will be available to own from the 17th November. Extras will include an enhanced commentary for selected scenes with Sacha Baron Cohen and director Larry Charles, an hour of alternative, deleted and extended scenes not shown in theaters, and an Interview with Hollywood Agent Lloyd Robinson. The Blu-ray release will also include an exclusive video commentary with Sacha Baron Cohen and Director Larry Charles, and BD-Live features ("My Scenes Sharing", "My Chat").

Quote: Sacha Baron Cohen (the creator and star of Borat) returns to the big screen in the hilarious adventures of Austria's favorite fashionista, Bruno. In this gleefully anarchic mockumentary, the flamboyant television host loses his homeland talk show, "Funkyzeit," and does what any self-respecting wannabe would do -- he moves to Hollywood to pursue worldwide super-stardom. From worlds of fashion and entertainment to the military, Bruno puts his worst foot forward as Baron Cohen fearlessly tramples the boundaries of good taste in ways that confound celebrities and just plain folks alike. Fans of Baron Cohen's gonzo comedy can look forward to an hour's worth of hysterical scenes not shown in theaters on both the DVD and Blu-ray versions.

All I can say is that is one the most cluttered covers I think I've ever seen.

"Funnier than Borat???" Hell no!
Interesting cover art....
That cover is awful.
in the commercials, those scenes with the army guys...man, if that wasn't staged i'll be shocked.
anyway i never saw borat so i doubt i'll see this, the whole "reality" thing isn't my cup of tea. but yeah there's only so much he can do here, its to the point where people who know he is and all so i'm sure its that much harder to fool anyone.
whichever character he decides to bring to theaters next, maybe he should just try making an actual movie instead of this whole pseudo-reality-documentary style. the 90's are almost 10yrs old so Ali G could work with the whole nostalgia crazy lately. lol

The cover is decent.
Charles Barkley says: "Snappy cover, but these knucklehead quotes are just turrible!..."
There's something about that cover that just reeks of desperation. Also can't believe the word "ballsiest" is on there. Someone somewhere is gonna complain.
Alright, I hated this movie which has nothing to do with my thoughts on the cover art, but how stupid to put the same quote on there twice. Even if it is by different people.
All the reviews I read said Bruno was so-so & not as funny as Borat (and really gay). As for that cover, change it-I hate it when DVD covers are cluttered with those "Best movie ever" adds. Just let the viewers watch & find out for themselves.

Pass.
I thought it was fantastic. So much funnier than Borat.

didn't see this but i kind of dig the cover. seems like they were trying to make it look like a magazine cover. kind of suits it.
Michael Greenwaldt wrote: I was a bit disappointed. It's funny, but not nearly as hilarious as BORAT. I work at a video store and am not looking forward to this coming out because a lot of people will hate it and I'm not looking forward to hearing the homophobic comments (which will definitely come where I live - Brokeback Mountain brought quite a few, and Milk got some - mostly from people who didn't rent them). With BORAT we'll have people bringing it back complaining about it, I'm sure.
Hm, never thought of that before, I'm sure that has to be a rough situation. I almost worked at a video store, this kind of stuff never crossed my mind to be honest.

This isn't "When Harry Met Sally", lol. I think Borat is much, much funnier and classic Sacha Baron Cohen. Bruno does have it's moments, it's a sort of crazy movie, shocking as well (I saw this in the theater and some people walked out in the middle of it). Overall I enjoyed the film and it's a messed up comedy (though I would bet lots of moments are staged), the messed up factor is what Sacha Baron Cohen intended, he wanted those people to walk out of the theater in disgust
.
Funnier than Borat and I loved Borat!
I thought Borat was funnier. But Bruno went further. Still I enjoy both of them.
Wow, if the American cover is that plastered with reviews, the UK cover probably won't have room for Brüno anywhere on it.
I guess that also speaks of how much faith Universal has in its sales potential.

I liked Borat, and I have it on DVD. But I admit I havent watch it since the one time I saw it in theaters. Saw a few scenes from this and I am not interested in seeing it ever. PASS!!!
This movie was so halarious! Yet so disturbing.....

But then again I thought Borat was bad too....
That is such a Samantha thing to saw. Than again, some people can't appreciate good comedy. I can see you were "Offended" by it.
Huh? I was offended by it? A Samantha thing to saw (what ever that means)? Borat had about 2 or 3 funny things, this was just worse and felt like it was the same character in different clothes. I can appreciate good comedy but thought that this movie was not comedy.
I don't know how you seem to think you know how I felt about this - what part of my original comment said I was offended? Weird....
Shame I went on holidays before the follow up comment was posted.
