From the producer of the equally crap-tacular "Battlestar Galactica," IIRC...
what will they put on dvd next....
Well if they do a good job like they did for Battlestar then this will be one to get!
The hawke mans make up was pretty lame though....

Yawn
5 discs for $90 for something I havent heard of...ummmmmm...pass!
just wait till it hits the cheepie bins - the rrp is usually way off the mark....
Excellent!!
I met Erin Gray at a convention awhile back and she told me about this coming out....it'll be a great day when I have this set in my hands as it's one of my all time favorite shows. With the Bionic Woman coming out later this year, all I need is the 6 Million Dollar Man and my life is complete.....
The Bionic Woman is being released BEFORE the Six Million Dollar Man? That makes no sense!!
I think.....
I think it has something to do with a potential 6 Million Dollar Man movie coming up at some point. I just hope that any of the cross over eps with Jaime/Steve will be featured on the Bionic Woman set!
I wonder if this is going to come in a limited edition Twiggy Head case like the 'Battlestar Galactica' set's Cylon head?
I'm still trying to cram that thing on to my shelf somewhere...

They have the technology, but...
Lee Majors sued Universal earlier this year over past and future royalties (themeparks, DVD, syndication). At that point, the Farrelly Brothers were doing a 6 Mil Man movie. I think all DVD possibilities hinge on that matter getting cleared up. I just want the Buck Rogers movie on DVD. I don't need the whole series.
I might pick up this set if I can get it for around $40 on eBay.
40% off
I sell DVD's and being able to buy this on ebay for 40% is not going to be possible. That is unless they guy who is selling it stole it. Then more than 40% is possible.
This box set does not have any extras. This is pretty crappy since it retails for 89.99. This box set has now made history as being the highest retailed box set with no/little extras. First is was Fover Knight but this one takes the cake.

I agree - maybe I am being foolish but when you look at the effort they went to for the Battlestar set you would think they could have found something!
SHAME!

Well considering that the 'Battlestar Galactica' set retailed @ $119.98, contained 24 episodes and a few extras, the $89.98 retail for 'Buck Rogers' set containg 32 episodes and no extras seems right by Universal's pricing strategy.
Don't get me wrong, I would have loved some special features in this set, but I don't think the comparison to the BSG set is valid...on one hand you get more actual original program content for $30.00 less than the set with just a few special features and less original program content.

Retail Price
Hey Matt J. I did not look at the amount of episodes. So for no extras that is an OK price. But if you look at shows like Earth Final Conflict, BeastMaster box sets they have 25 episodes and some extras for only 39.99.
Going with what Universal is doing is pretty strange. They retail Quantum Leap season 1 for 59.99 and season two the same which is strange becuase season two has more than double the episodes.
I am starting to think studios will phase out extras on box sets. If you look at Paramount Television they have zero extras. But I think these shows will get put out again with tons of extras down the line in a so called special/collectors edition sets.

Yeah...but it's 'Earth: Final Conflict' and 'The Beastmaster'.
Seriously though, different companies have different pricing strategies when it comes to pricing their DVDs and television box sets are no exception. Paramount and Universal seem to charge a bit more than say Fox and Warner.
The cost of syndication rights for a particular show have a lot to do with its DVD price as well. Usually the higher the syndication rights cost, the higher the price of the series on DVD. It all comes back to how much the creators of the show and/or studio wish to charge for the rights to broadcast in sydication and/or distribute on home video.
Case in point, 'The X-Files' sets were at the time of their original releases fairly expensive when compared to a show like 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer', even though both are owned and released by Fox, but 'The X-Files' demanded a higher asking price for distribution at the time. Since the 'The X-Files' does not cost as much to show in sydication anymore, it has also in part correlated to a price drop of the DVD sets as well. It also doesn't hurt Fox to make incentives for those new to the show to buy it now that all 9 seasons have been released by lower the price.

money money money
I spose it all depends on the actual demand (or popularity) for the product on the first place to how much it will cost.
If it doesn't sell just watch the price tumble!

The stories were dog doo, the f/x were dog doo, but Erin Grey was so hot in those outfits. Great American cheese from the early 80's. Most tomato-worthy was the bird-head guy, but he didn't show up until much later.
