Hey, first post. Anyways, just a question about the cover, why does Pearl Harbour have the regular Walt Disney Home Entertainment on the spine, shouldn't it be Touchstone. Or has Disney moved it over to the Disney banner. If so, that just proves that Disney has really lost it and totally turned it's back on quality family entertainment to do junk that's aimed at an older audience (I'm thinking anything they do with Jerry Bruckheimer- if that guy did an actual good movie, I think his fat head would explode).

"Beyond high definition" etc
Is Blu-Ray having a war with HD-DVD for "The most useless banner" competition?

Guys............always release the best possible previous available edition, when trying to break a new format. Pearl Harbor 4 dvd disc Director's Cut edition anyone? Is it so hard to put thát on a new format? I mean, come on.......For early adopters, not me in this case, it is a step back. But sure, go ahead. Release all those bare-bones editions. And a lot of c**ppy movies......
We'll just wait and see what we have in a couple of years.
I guess, they'll never learn. And that's fine.
I admit, it's is nice to upgrade and all, but it is not as big of a step as dvd once was. You gotta admit that. So make it more worthwile, extrawise, as Jack Lemmon said in The Apartment.

That swoosh frame looks like the metal part of a cigar clipper, haha. These stupid circular frames are just ruining covers, I wonder how long they'll last. I guess until the complete switchover is made from DVD to HD.
Yeah, I too am wondering why Disney's logo is on the spine of Pearl Harbor, because I am sure it was distributed through its Touchstone division. I mean, Enemy Of The State has its Touchstone label.
One last thought, why not release the Vista Series director's cut in HD?

.....and Pearl Harbor sucked!!!! - Team America: World Police
Hahaha, I'm so holding onto my standard-definiton DVD collection, there is nothing worthy of me upgrading any of these DVDs yet.

I haven't upgraded to HD anything yet, but it's nice to know that Enemy Of The State is recieving HD treatment.
Speaking of four disc DVD director's cuts - I'm surprised New Line hasn't announced the Lord of the Rings trilogy for hi-def release. In fact, I don't think New Line made any hi-def announcements or releases, yet. Seems strange.

Enemy Of The State would be worth it
Enemy of the State is the best title out of the listed. Though the sound in Pearl Harbor was fantastic. But Pearl Harbor sucked...........
They could probably even fit the Pearl Harbor 4-disc on 2 or 3 discs. Dump all the features on one disc in SD. I guess they might have to split the movie across discs (or a flipper?) though.
Meh, whatever. I am not on this HD/BD thing just yet.

Reason being is because Blu-Ray uses the older, more space hungry MPEG-2 compression codec. Blu-ray wouldn't need 50GB discs if they used the newer VC-1 compression. But because Sony doesn't want to pay royalties to Microsoft, they've released 50GB BD discs and is now forcing consumers to pay the higher price.
Universal is releasing King Kong on HD and because of the efficient VC-1 codec, they can fit the 3+ hour long movie on it, have their U-Control interactive experience, plus fit MORE extras on it than this Pearl Harbor disc.
Sony suuuuuuuuuuucks.........

New Line stated that they wouldn't put the LOTR series in HD until the format tested for a couple years. I read this on their website, or maybe the LOTR site, but it was an official statement. They want to get the most out of the HD formats and they said that the HD formats have not yet been perfected. Expect them on HD-DVD/Blu-Ray in or around 2008.
