so does this mean it'll be part of the eventual season 1 package as well?

Probably will be part of a season 1 package at the end of 2010 since the series doesn't start production until this summer and airs next year. So the DVD is your only chance to watch the pilot (which has been finished for a while) before next year.
And it may not be the version that's on the Series 1 DVD set, either. This is the "uncut" version, and could change before the pilot airs in 2010.
The creators have said they'll be using this DVD as a way to gauge fan reactions and help shape the series in 2010.

So is this kinda like the mini-series that BSG had? Or is this the whole thing, just a movie?
(SPOILER WARNING)
The funny thing is in Galactica season 4 (episodes past) they show that the Cylons have been around in the human form versions for thousands of years so how can they have only been invented 50 years ago? (series time)

"All of this has happened before and all of this will happened again" has pretty much been the tagline of the show for 5 years.
Here we go again....
They got me aon Razor but I will wait before Season 1 box set before I consider getting this.

Season 1 of Caprica will have the edited for TV version. This version has added nakedness and swearing.
Artwork added
Gah... that artwork is not very good at all. It looks like the Frost/Nixon cover.
Ooh, can't wait for this!!!!
Nah just kiddin', would rather s**t blood.

They're not the same Cylons! The Final Five are thousands of years old. The Colonial Cylons are something else!

I am re4ally skeptical of this, but I will give it a rent and check it out regardless. But from what I have heard...it's going to be a boring soap opera with none of the elements that made/make BSG such a great show.
While this might make for a good series as it goes especially if it lingers into the first war, I can't help but think they made the wrong choice as to were the prequel takes place.
I'm I alone to think that a series based on the "Earth" cylons & and their creations would have been better?

So what's the deal with the Cylons since I'm now thoroughly confused. There's the Cylons that have been around for thousands of years and then there's the one's invented 50 years prior. So how did the 2 Cylons get together? What is the origin of the first Cylons?
Someone please explain.

It's only been since my initial comment they aired the eps explaining the two (well, three really) types of Cylons.

Stop posting spoilers FFS - use tags. I don't think you're 100% accurate anyway.
So once more we're slapped with a DVD release ONLY?
I want this to be on Blu-Ray too, come on! Let's have a great start to this!

give it time....
why would the future S1 set be cut? The BSG DVD's aren't cut just the TV edits.
I'm waiting for the complete 1st series because I've already been "Razor-ed". Trick me once shame on you , trick me twice...
