Please get rid of that, only Dreamworks does that.
Uh, I guess you didn't see the teaser trailer for The Incredibles...they billed it as "from the makers of Toy Story, Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo".
I meant on their dvd covers.

I would tend to agree with your Tolkien analagy Matt in regard to the length of movies. However, when it comes to kids under 10, the objectivity of what is good and bad is blurred. You have ever taken a class of under 10yr old kids to a movie that is 2hrs long? The first 70 minutes they are zoned in, the next 20 minutes their are fading in and out. Anything past the 90 minute mark, they are making up excuses to go to the bathroom or the popcorn/candy fight has ensued.

Must be the kids. I've gone with my friends 6 year old and he had no problem paying attention to a nearly 2 hour movie.

Yeah, I agree with Adrian, it must be the kids. I've been taking my own live-in rugrat Chase, who is currently six, to movies since he was two, and his behavior during any particular movie has had little to do with the length of it, but rather its quality and how it grabs his attention. Most kids I know will sit completely through a three-hour long movie as long as it entertains them along the way, and I've found it amazing how the size of Chase's bladder is inversely affected by how much he likes a movie.

Favorite Pixar movies are Toy Story 2 , Monsters inc. and The Incredibles.
This one was the worst of them all.
A Michael J. Fox's Doc Hollywood remake. If all they could come up to was that pfffffffff boring Pixar flik.

Quit giving them a pot of coffee before the movie!
Quite honestly, I like the trend to slightly longer kids movies. Some of the kids movies are so short they feel really rushed.

LOL...they come to me already loaded
I think it is a good thing for us adults in the audience to have some more meat on there. But in the case of Cars, I think they spread it out 2hrs when it could have easily been 90mins. Take Nemo, it was only 10mins shorter than Cars, but, it never felt long. It was a really good story. I think they are just doing 2hr flicks for the sake of having more "stuff" in there.

Not that good artwork. I think that a 2-DISC will be relaeased on Christmans like all John Lasseter(Toy Story, A Bug's Life, Toy Story 2) films. It is just a mean way to earn extra cash.

WHy would they release another version of the film 6 weeks after the first? Aint ever gonna happen. I doubt we will ever see a 2 disc version of this film, maybe a 10 years anniversary edition.

Disappointing artwork and under-extra'd. Deleted scenes should be interesting, but otherwise I'm hoping for more.
The biggest problem with the film itself is that it's actually far more grown-up and risk-taking than people give it credit for. It's not really for kids. Don't believe me? See the not-all-glowing-but-fascinated review:

I thought it was fantastic! I took my four year old to see it(his second theatre movie) and he absolutely loved it. When I saw the running time on it, I got scared, but to my suprise, we were both entertained through the whole thing, even through the extras at the end. Unlike some of the other comments made, I thought it was way better than the incredibles, but I liked that movie too. A definite add to our collection.
This was a really great movie! FANTASTIC! I love movies without the sex and violence we see so much of now. We'll be buying this one as soon as it's released!
I loved this one as well, it's the best animated film of 2006 so far. I'll be getting this, but I hope they change their mind and release a two-disc edition like they always have.

i'll addd it to my collection anyways
It's not like any other DISNEY movie because it ISN'T Disney, it's PIXAR. Disney is the distributer & marketer of the film and nothing to do with the creating of the movie.
well, it is DISNEY to me, so i'll stick with that!

You know. I'm really impressed that there is finally a Cars DVD, but I'm really depressed that there's not a 2-Disc DVD. I hope they schedule a 2-Disc DVD for Cars. You know. All Pixar films are on 2-discs. Actually, this isn't the first time a Pixar movie has been released on a 1-Disc DVD. Remember, when Disney had a gold collection? The "Toy Story" films were on a one-disc DVD, but now, no more 1-Disc DVDs for the "Toy Story" films.
WHEN'S NOVEMBER 7TH? I WANT IT TO BE NOVEMBER 7TH NOW!!!!! I'm serious. I'm dying to get it, but I'll probably get it early, b/c a video store has DVDs on sale and on rent early. It might have Cars early.

to all those that are saying that they do not like the film cars and that it does not meet their expectations, need you need reminding that this is a CHILD'S film and it does not matter whether you can relate to the cars. the idea is to make I film that children will like and enjoy and is not full of volience as so many flims are.
LLcruize wrote: I will tell you the main issue with this film, the run time. At 1hr 56mins, this baby was 20mins too long. Nemo was at 1hr 44mins and The Incredibles clocked in at 1hr 55mins. Disney & Pixar seem to think they are making films for folks with long attention spans all of a sudden.
You make a G-rated movie that is 2hrs long you are going to loose half the audience if there isn't a lot of fireworks. Disney/Pixar need to scale back down to the Toy Story/2 running times. Amazing those stories are their most beloved and they are 90mins or less.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins are two of the most loved children's films ever, and they both push 3 hours. Don't insult kids by telling them that they can't handle big numbers like 2 or 3. For crying out loud, most kids sit in front of the same computer game trying to get the same character to do the same thing for 5 or 6 hours at a time.
As long as the film is engaging and just plain good, the running time isn't an issue.
