The premium giftset is elegantly boxed in an intricate laser-cut Moroccan design and will include collectibles such as reproductions of executive memos and props**, a branded passport holder, luggage tag, photo book and mail-in offer for a movie poster. Retail will be $59.98. A Blu-ray release will also be available for $64.99. We don't have artwork for this one yet, but we've attached full details below:

yeah, i own the Two-Disc Special Edition and that is fine with me.
well its nice to see how little price difference there is between the dvd and blu-ray. its going slow but blu-ray prices are finally dropping. awesome.

Last transfer was amazing, so I'll get the Blu-ray only if it makes my head explode.

Seriously, is this a classic film for informed movie buffs, or a toy set for 8 year-olds?
I hate to use a cliché, but anyone seriously interested in this kind of superfluous garbage, really needs to get a life.
For goodness sake Warner, treat us like adults. Don't we really just want the film at the best possible quality?
Bring on the Blu-ray disc ASAP. But all that other junk?

This sounds essentially the same as the two-disc SE, just with new packaging and a few non-DVD extras. The SE is on my wish list but I may just get this instead.

yeah i heard the 1080p transfer looked amazing on the hd dvd edition but i dont want to bother with this in high def, back then they didnt shoot widescreen so considering how badly i hate fullscreen, i dont think i can seat around for this

The 2-Disc SE was a spectacular release. Why did they go and try and improve upon that? It should have been just another straight to Blue Ray rerelease, with the same features. If there's any supplemental materials (disc features, not "props"
it's just going to serve as an annoyance for fans like myself who'd prefer to have the best DVD version available.
At present, I don't intend to upgrade.

From what I've seen, the only extra features from the previous 2 disc release is the documentary on Jack Warner and the various trinkets thrown into this "Ultimate Collection". Since this new collection is twice the price of the previous edition, it's a no-brainer pass for me.
This movie is fine with the great 2-disc edition (on sale for $10 on BB) that's already out; I don't think there is an improvement on video or audio quality, and the new previously unreleased 'extras' might just be for die hard fans...and the extra 'toys', well, it's nice to have them...but at that price? Not really...

I've done some research and discovered it has everything from the two-disc special edition with the Jack Warner doc and the collectibles being new. This better not be one of those stupid DVD books Warner has been packaging of late. I hate those. Like a previous poster mentioned, I'm getting tired of these gimicky marketing tactics. Leave that c**p for the comic book and videogame fanboys that get off on it. I just want a simple, uniform-looking product to put on my shelf, not some deluxe-sized eyesore...
I'll pick this up. The only version I have is the barebones snapcase, so this is a must purchase for me.
Own the HD DVD, fantastic quality for PQ, considering the age of the film. I'll be getting the BD UE as well, the LE blood is starting to come back again lol

Assuming BB is Best Buy, it's $21 there now. I don't know when you got it for $10, but it isn't on sale now. BTW, the single disc is $15.
I've been waiting to pick up a cheap copy of it. This new release will surely help my chances as the 1 & 2 discs will be on sales soon.

I also question how many DVDs are in this set. If you look at the picture of this set provided by The Digital Bits, you can clearly see 3 DVDs (or at least 3 Discs - one could be a CD). You can also see the cardboard case the DVDs sit in and it is made to house 3 DVDs.

It makes total sense to me. Blu-ray is all about 'color and widescreen' in their respectable form of being High Definition. B/W and Fullscreen? Total pass. Even though its not the films fault, due to its vintage.

That's one spiffy set but I am not that much of a fan to purchase this.

Great movie, but not one that I would shell out more than $20 bucks for. The special features are great, but the bells and whistles do not seem worth it to me.
