Here's the link to the real changes:

The other link was to the differences between the uncut and the english version of the film.
This new link shows the real differences between the US-PG-13 cut and the German uncut version. It turns out, there is a quite a lot of edited shots and such, which sucks.

Is that it? Thats all that was cut? If so, I don't really feel very left out anymore. Still debating whether this is worth upgrading or not.

I don't mind this at all, I'll be picking it up. I didn't buy the US dvd release of this due to the lack of features. I imported the single disc from Korea (or maybe Hong Kong? I don't remember) that had a DTS track, which came in a slim-case.
I really don't like how all the blu-ray releases have that blue c**p at the top. It looks awful. They should have gone with a black bordered case with the Blu-Ray logo in blue. That wouldn't clash as much.
And how long are they going to keep putting things like "Experience High Definition" on the covers? That's going to look really tacky in a couple years, kind of like how the first DVDs all had "WIDESCREEN" in huge purple letters on the covers.

That is a nice cover, be very interesting to hear if the US and UK gets uncut versions. No mention of the BBFC site, just info on the special features as of yet.

What a waste. How stupid to release a 3-Disc about a year later than the theatre release. Most people alreday own this.
I love my Region 3 UNCUT DTS 2-Disc.
I love my Region 3 UNCUT DTS 2-Disc.
Great cover. Bad move Sony, majority of High Def consumers already own the single Blu-ray disc edition. We see no reason to upgrade.
Within a few months this will drop.
Within a few months this will drop.
I would so buy this, but sadly the R1 version is the most edited cut of the film.
when i finally upgrade to blu-ray (most likely next year) I will be getting this or whatever cool Bond set they have out at the time since I swore not to touch a Bond movie on DVD since i need something to collect on blu-ray.
I have the DVD already so if I choose to get this (now since I'm getting a Blu-Ray player), I'd say this would look good on Blu-Ray.
as i sayed before......i will double-dip without blink of an eye.....love the art-work
Great movie.....I'll definitely be picking this up.
Anyone know if this is the R rated version or the stupid PG-13? I have my German uncut Blu-ray so I'm in no need to buy this unless it's R rated.
Highres artwork added
I hope for R2 there change it in a 4 disc CE and at the single of you know my name as disc 4.
Finally today (8/12/08) did Sony offically announce this Collector's Edition of "Casino Royale" for release on 10/21.
I might actually pick this up...The only copy I own is the Hong Kong single disc (or maybe Korean? Don't know either language, just know I imported it lol) which I got for the DTS track. I put off buying the US version since it had limited special features. I'd like to see these, so I'll pick it up. That being said, I'm not buying it until it's cheap.
I do agree though, if I had bought the US release, I wouldn't be bothering with this.

Although it does look like that 10/21 will be the release date for the Collector's Edition of "Casino Royale" the fact remains that Sony has not yet offically announced it. Personally, I would not post anything concerning it on a DVD website when it hasn't been officially announced, especially when that same movie was previously announced and then unceremoniously pulled.
Aha! Nice try, Sony.
Havent bought bond on blu ray yet but i think i will get this one of my top fav blu ray movies to show off for picture quailty (thats not animated) the Transfer was amazing
I was just wondering if this release date was confirmed by the studio and where the cover artwork came from. Did Sony/MGM provide an official press release announcing the new release date and contents? I haven't been able to find any other information regarding the 10/21 release date. The few websites that did mention it referred to this site as their source. The Digital Bits had an announcement of the 1967 "Casino Royale" for release on 10/21 and specifically noted that it was NOT the 2006 version.
I knew this was coming the second I saw the DVD. Glade I waited on the Blu-ray version. I just KNEW they where going to rerelease this movie as a S.E. before JB:COS. WOOT!!!
When the original came out they said this was coming with QoS. Why is everyone surprised?
It's only called a "Collector's Edition"? Why not the "Casino Royale With Cheese Edition"?
Just kidding...good flick and a reboot done right.

I love it when studios do more than two-discs. For some reason it screams fan service. King Kong and Hot Fuzz have fantastic three-disc releases and Kingdom of Heaven's and LOTR's four-disc sets are ridiculously awesome. I can't wait for Halloween's (the remake)three-disc edition. This seems like it's good as well.
Awesome Packaging, much more special features (as opposed to the paltry offering on the original)
Obvious double dip for me.
Obvious double dip for me.
If its released in Ire/UK I will get the 2 Disc BD. The two commentaries sound interesting, Martin Campbell will be on one, maybe Barbara Broccoli & Michael Wilson. Or did Mr Craig record one.
I primarily have to get it because my R3 dvd won't play on my PS3. And it also ranks as my favourite Bond movie.
If Craig keeps getting good material cound he dethrone Sean as #1 Bond?

I will plan to buy the 3-Disc DVD if it's at a good price. I got the movie for a whole lot of money at my video store and that was the worst deal I ever got on a DVD in my life.
depends what the cover looksl ike for blu-ray i might re-buy it since....
Agreed, but it's business, pure business...
Why oh why do they do this????
Ahhh the quest for more money and to rip off the consumer.....
And they wonder why there is so much piracy...

Got the regular SD on BB for like $7 or $6.
Since I will be getting a stand alone or a PS3 when Iron Man is released on blu-ray, most likely will be buying this also...good movie, waiting for Quantum...

I'll probably pick up the 2-disc Blu-ray version since I haven't picked up the first release on Blu-ray.
Also on the same day, MGM releases a new edition of the Casino Royale spoof. Still I will stick with the Daniel Craig one. Can't wait to see the new film.
Um... why?!
Where's the DTS???
HK R3 has DTS, and why not R1???
HK R3 has DTS, and why not R1???
Artwork is nice. I'll probably get that.
"...finally..."!!???
Well I'll be rushing out to buy this!! It will look lovely next to all my 'Ultimate Edition' collection, what with its completely different package design and the way it just screams "Look at me!!!".......oh wait the original 2 disc version already looks completely out of place on my shelf so no need for this. I'll just keep waiting and maybe they'll eventually see sense and make an 'Ultimate Edition' Casino Royale or even just do a double sided sleeve like they did with some of the old VHS Bond releases.
2 Disc BD cool. That must mean HD extras. I wasn't going to bother but now I may do.
I won't be getting the USA disc though, it's cut loads.

classy artwork and that Wallper pic of Vesper is on a disk.
Street date has been moved from the 3rd June to the 21st October
Yeah, I didn't realize until just now that this was supposed to have come out twelve days ago. Weird that they haven't announced anything about it yet...
that would make sense. it'd just be nice of them to tell us, though.
so is it safe to say that Sony postponed this dvd until November so that it could promote Quantum Of Solace.
I hope the Dolby sound mix is better on this release - the bass keeps dropping out on the current disc. Watching it right now, and it's all over the movie.

I didn't upgrade with my other 007 DVDs... It seems highly unlikely that I'll do so this time around.
I'll get the 3-disc since I got the 2 disc for very cheap.
What? No DTS??? Not good.
I didn't buy Casino Royale on DVD because I knew there would be a Quantum of Solace tie-in with more extras. Not to sound snarky, but good things come to those who wait.
Instead of bringing out a new version with new special features, they could have been thinking about releasing this title as uncut this time. RC1 and RC2 UK are CUT! I'll stick to my German uncut version!
figures, I guess people will buy this if they want the extra special features bad enough :D
Are we to expect a THIRD dvd release after the next film hits theatres or dvd? Sony is getting bad with this, but it was still very expected. I have seen the film so many times, i don't know if i could sit through it again
Don Jariyasunant wrote: Looking forward to the Audio commentary and becoming Bond featurette.
That featurette is on the 2-disc release already.
Anyone have any guesses as to what the coverart will be, since they've used the theatrical poster for the 2-disc? I hope they make something new, because I'm not a big fan of the teaser poster...

It was announced way back when the first release came this was coming. There shouldn't be any surprise to anyone.
tylerdurden wrote: What is on this that wasnt on the first 2-disc release.
The first release was just a cash in to get it out quick. The extras were minimal and would've easily fitted on the first disc.
I too have my doubts over how "Great" they'll be but it's obvious they'll be extensive. This is a THREE disc release after all!

Yet another way to despise on Sony! They could be the number 1 movie studio for the most double/triple dips on movies.
Is anyone actually shocked by this announcement?
I mean the 2-disc set was extremely flimsy and didn't have any substantial extras other than some cheesy EPK featurettes. Pretty much everyone here saw this coming from a mile away.

so any word on the re-release on blu-ray?
There's a good chance I'll pick this up, because I only just recently got the original release for $9.99 at BestBuy, so... not too much of a loss for me. Depends on the extras.
I'm happy with my Region 3 Uncut version for the time being, only paid 14euro for it on CDWow. Though I did double dip on the Ultimate Editions, primarily for the superb picture quality on Connery's entries.
To pointless to be a three-disc collector's edition.
I bought this on sale for like $8, and just yesterday, decided to open it...I have the Ultimate Bond Collection, and IMO, I don't think this is a must, since the A/V quality is good enough...
Oh, and Spiderdan22, this is a SD DVD, not a blu-ray. (This is NOT a high-definition release), this is a double-dip.

The two-disc was fairly flimsy, but Sony made little secret that this was in the offing - the director was talking about his commentary and deleted scenes a long, long time ago. Had I the willpower, I'd have skipped the first version...but I liked the film too much to wait. The 15 quid (or whatever) is what you pay for the half-dozen times you watch the film in advance of a later release.
Pays your money, takes your choice. I'll live with it. It's not a huge amount of money, and it's not like we don't know how the system works.

I'll get this for me and give the first edition to my dad. No problem for me.
I think Sony wanted us to feel like 'WOW'. It worked we just don't care. Honestly, this product is a cheap scam to get people's money when it's not needed.

Durnit... I was thinking that there was going to be a super-duper edition, but I was so snowed by the movie itself that I bought it the very first day it came out... Double-dip THIS, CTSHV!!
GREAT!! I just got a blu-ray player (PS3), and was looking at getting this as my first "dvd-to-blu-ray rebuy" disk. glade I didn't pick it up.
I knew it too!!!The movie industry is so predictable!A crew commentary and the "becoming bond" docu sounds interesting but common...
Bond Girls are Forever is a snorefest.

Why, Lord? WHY???????????????????????
I just bought the Blu version a week ago. Pass for me.
Everyone saw it coming due to Casino Royale's extras being pathetic compared to those on the other 20 films. I'd like to see the deleted scenes, but there's no way I'm paying full price for this. When it drops below a fiver, I'll give it a look, but not before.
this is NOT needed
I knew Sony was going to do this, we all knew it. They should've put it off until November to at least cash in on "Quantum of Solace".
I already have it on Blu-ray and I don't think there will be any extras on this set so fascinating that I'm gonna get this.
