Wow, that was quick! Anyways, this one an amazing movie. One of the best of the year for sure (I know it came out in 2006, but only in limited release. It went nationwide in '07). I'll definitely pick this up.
Right off the trailer i could tell this is a very good movie.
I'm not sure the whole "The year 2027....yadda yadda yadda...our only hope" stuff is needed on the cover. I like it though- fantastic movie. Probably gonna see a 2-discer at some point.
As expected, it looks like Universal did indeed intentionally screw over the UK release to deter people from importing it long before the R1 version came out. Even the scant few extras listed here are more than the UK R2 version has, so I'll be importing this one when it's released instead.
A tad annoying yes, but at least since it was so blatantly obvious what was going on it was a situation that was easily avoidable. Waiting twice as long to get it is still better than double dipping once the inevitably superior R1 version came out, which was pretty clearly going to be the case when the only extra feature announced for the R2 was one, single featurette.
Still, at least the wait's not that long, and it'll certainly be worth it.

Very good movie with great action at the end!
I'll be picking up the HD DVD for sure. Awesome film.
Better cover than the R2
Quite possibly the best film of 2006 - but what's up with that artwork? THis isn't a Schwarznegger pic. for gods' sake! "He must protect our only hope. . ." Give me a bloody break - that's terrible marketing. Just awful. They're making it look like a film that it most decidedly is not - instead of one of the smartest, best-directed masterpieces in years.
Worse cover than the R2
It is probably a worse cover than the R2, how they managed that I don't know!
I'll be getting the HD-DVD version, tis a great movie!

Worse cover than the R2?!! What are you muppets sniffing?
Wow, the release dates of DVDs from their theatrical releases are really shrinking these days. Before it was 4-6 months, now it seems to be 2-4 months. I guess some of it might have to do with heading off the bootleggers. Or perhaps the advent of the HD formats.
Excellent! This is the BEST FILM of 2006 hands down.
really wanted to see this, pissed that i missed it.

Wonderful movie... one of the best movies of 2006. I'm not particularly wild about the R1 artwork, but it looks a helluva lot better than the ugly R2 cover. But Clive Owen didn't look that scruffy in the movie as he's depicted in the cover.
I'll be getting it, no question about it. I hope the movie wins Best Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay at the Oscars at the very least. The Cinematography nod was excellent, considering that Emmanuel Lubiezki had his work cut out for him when lensing the long takes.

Artwork is way better than the UK release, which i have avoided based on the artwork alone. Love the movie and will get this before you get it.
Good to know that this is getting a better R1 release with a decent cover. R2 looks pretty pathetic barebones release with one of the worst dvd covers ever.
Really good movie! It had some of the most powerful imagery in a film this year.
The cover's not so bad. At least it's not some horrendous bit of Photoshop vomit. Mainly I'd like to see a commentary but good to know we're getting more than an EPK. As for the guy who said a 2-disc double dip is probably coming, I'd doubt it. Universal didn't push it for the Oscars (which is why it has no Best Picture nom) and they really didn't market it either. Universal double dips when there's a reason (sequels, mainly).
I'm not big on the cover art and them explaining the whole plot on it looks a little ridiculous. If they were going to they could have at least used a smaller font and not bold. They really should have created a classier cover, and it should have an Oscar banner and critic quotes.
Regardless, I'll be seeing it right away. I wanted to catch it in theaters but it left mine faster than I'd assumed it would.

HD DVD for me baby!
The artwork blows.
Hopefully, Univeral will change it once this wins for Cinematography to the one-sheet.

call me weird but i like this artwork but it could've been way much better.
ppl who think this is worse than the R2 can....

A fantastic and stunning film! One of the best of 2006 that should have been nominated for best picture, but at least it got 3 nods. The artwork is pretty good (100x better than R2), I just hope that the extras are good. Although, this film really deserves a 2-Disc.
i already imported the R2 one,,,but i just might have to pick this up if there are enough special features. i was really hoping for a 2-disk.
I definitely won't miss this one. I wish it did have better cover art. it looks too much like a horror movie from that cover art.
Do we have any Universal contacts?
I like the art, I particularly like the font of Children of Men on the DVD case. Absolutely amazing film, with amazing cinematography. can't wait to buy this, and whatever nice 2 disc comes out

I won't miss this one...
