Great enough movie to wait for a 2 disc-
Sounds like I will have to wait for the special edition that will probably be released in 6 months down the track....
Interesting how the US was given a late release on this one, when it is usually the first to release...

i missed in during the theater run, thought about seeing it i regret it now, but looking forward in renting it
For such an absolutely breathtaking movie aesthetically, the cover is terrible. I can not wait to watch this one again, especially the twenty minute one shot scene towards the end, gotta love that little blood smear at the corner of the screen! One of the best I've seen in the past five years.
S**tty cover for an amazing movie.
It was a very interesting and entertaining movie with a good plot. I really, really, really liked the action scenes, they are really good. Let's hope for a good 2-disc edition.
Still, me being a Mexican, and Cuaron also being a Mexican, can talk about a world with no new births...oh well...

That critic (I don't know her name) did not compare it to "Blade Runner" she just said that it deserved to be up there with sci-fi classics like "Blade Runner" and "Mad Max 2"
No....it was Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times, and he said "Made with palpable energy, intensity and excitement, it compellingly creates a world gone mad that is uncomfortably close to the one we live in. It is a Blade Runner for the 21st century, a worthy successor to that epic of dystopian decay."
To which I add, again, that "Children of Men" is a great great film. But it is certainly not a "Blade Runner for the 21st century". Let's not lose our heads here.

This was the best movie I saw in 2006, and a terrifying glimps into the future. I pray for a 2 disc edition. They should be showing this movie to kids in junior high, maybe they'll actually learn a thing or two.
the only extra feature on the R4 version is men under attck Featurette but here is the R4 cover art wich comes out feb 21

I loved this film. Cover art isnt that bad either.
HD DVD? Awesome! Mine, mine, mine!

Definite purchase for me, but that artwork is hideous.

Yeah, Universal could've had a sleeper hit if they took the plunge and expanded its release to 2,000+ theaters or more (rather than the measly 1,500), where word-of-mouth could've given the film bigger legs at the box office. Universal just took the film and dumped it into theaters without taking any chances... they really dropped the ball on it.
I was lucky to see the movie during winter holidays, where my local theater was showing it. The nearest theater where I live now didn't even show it!

Fantastic depressing futuristic movie with awsome cinematography. The use of the hand cam is amazing.Don't like the cover art though.I agree that it's one of the best films of 06.

I like the art, I particularly like the font of Children of Men on the DVD case. Absolutely amazing film, with amazing cinematography. can't wait to buy this, and whatever nice 2 disc comes out
Do we have any Universal contacts?
I definitely won't miss this one. I wish it did have better cover art. it looks too much like a horror movie from that cover art.
i already imported the R2 one,,,but i just might have to pick this up if there are enough special features. i was really hoping for a 2-disk.
A fantastic and stunning film! One of the best of 2006 that should have been nominated for best picture, but at least it got 3 nods. The artwork is pretty good (100x better than R2), I just hope that the extras are good. Although, this film really deserves a 2-Disc.
call me weird but i like this artwork but it could've been way much better.
ppl who think this is worse than the R2 can....

The artwork blows.
Hopefully, Univeral will change it once this wins for Cinematography to the one-sheet.

HD DVD for me baby!
I'm not big on the cover art and them explaining the whole plot on it looks a little ridiculous. If they were going to they could have at least used a smaller font and not bold. They really should have created a classier cover, and it should have an Oscar banner and critic quotes.
Regardless, I'll be seeing it right away. I wanted to catch it in theaters but it left mine faster than I'd assumed it would.

The cover's not so bad. At least it's not some horrendous bit of Photoshop vomit. Mainly I'd like to see a commentary but good to know we're getting more than an EPK. As for the guy who said a 2-disc double dip is probably coming, I'd doubt it. Universal didn't push it for the Oscars (which is why it has no Best Picture nom) and they really didn't market it either. Universal double dips when there's a reason (sequels, mainly).
Really good movie! It had some of the most powerful imagery in a film this year.
Good to know that this is getting a better R1 release with a decent cover. R2 looks pretty pathetic barebones release with one of the worst dvd covers ever.
Artwork is way better than the UK release, which i have avoided based on the artwork alone. Love the movie and will get this before you get it.
Wonderful movie... one of the best movies of 2006. I'm not particularly wild about the R1 artwork, but it looks a helluva lot better than the ugly R2 cover. But Clive Owen didn't look that scruffy in the movie as he's depicted in the cover.
I'll be getting it, no question about it. I hope the movie wins Best Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay at the Oscars at the very least. The Cinematography nod was excellent, considering that Emmanuel Lubiezki had his work cut out for him when lensing the long takes.

really wanted to see this, pissed that i missed it.
Excellent! This is the BEST FILM of 2006 hands down.
Wow, the release dates of DVDs from their theatrical releases are really shrinking these days. Before it was 4-6 months, now it seems to be 2-4 months. I guess some of it might have to do with heading off the bootleggers. Or perhaps the advent of the HD formats.
Worse cover than the R2?!! What are you muppets sniffing?
It is probably a worse cover than the R2, how they managed that I don't know!
I'll be getting the HD-DVD version, tis a great movie!

Worse cover than the R2
Quite possibly the best film of 2006 - but what's up with that artwork? THis isn't a Schwarznegger pic. for gods' sake! "He must protect our only hope. . ." Give me a bloody break - that's terrible marketing. Just awful. They're making it look like a film that it most decidedly is not - instead of one of the smartest, best-directed masterpieces in years.
Better cover than the R2
I'll be picking up the HD DVD for sure. Awesome film.
Very good movie with great action at the end!
As expected, it looks like Universal did indeed intentionally screw over the UK release to deter people from importing it long before the R1 version came out. Even the scant few extras listed here are more than the UK R2 version has, so I'll be importing this one when it's released instead.
A tad annoying yes, but at least since it was so blatantly obvious what was going on it was a situation that was easily avoidable. Waiting twice as long to get it is still better than double dipping once the inevitably superior R1 version came out, which was pretty clearly going to be the case when the only extra feature announced for the R2 was one, single featurette.
Still, at least the wait's not that long, and it'll certainly be worth it.

I'm not sure the whole "The year 2027....yadda yadda yadda...our only hope" stuff is needed on the cover. I like it though- fantastic movie. Probably gonna see a 2-discer at some point.
Right off the trailer i could tell this is a very good movie.
Wow, that was quick! Anyways, this one an amazing movie. One of the best of the year for sure (I know it came out in 2006, but only in limited release. It went nationwide in '07). I'll definitely pick this up.
This movie rocks!! However, I was kinda hoping that they stuck to the poster for the artwork. They created one of the best poster of all, last year.
I won't miss this one...
