MGM Home Entertainment has announced a Blu-ray/DVD combo release of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for November 2nd. Retail will be around $34.99. As well as featuring a remastered transfer and 7.1 DTS-HD master audio, this new release will include a “Toot Sweet Symphony” melody maker, a “Chitty's Bang Bang Driving Game”, featurettes ("Remembering Chitty Chitty Bang Bang with Dick Van Dyke", "A Fantasmagorical Motorcar", "The Ditchling Tinkerer", "Dick Van Dyke Press Interview", "The Potts Children's"), Sherman Brothers' Rare Demos of the film’s most popular songs, a photo gallery, a Vintage Advertising Gallery, a Sing-a-long version of the film, and a Music Machine feature. Nice cover, better than the SE dvd release.
If a Blu copy came our way, we might retool our review from R2-DVD. It was pretty funny, and one of the few time we have let the clutch fully out on our dislike for something, regardless of being a "beloved classic".
