I quite liked this movie, but I think it's overpraised by traditional in a way that's sort of pandering due to the film's subject matter. There's a trace of what Edward Said calls "Orientalism" in regards to critics' appraisal of the film. It's a good movie, but I don't think it's as good as the critical community would have you believe.

Yes! The movie that made me fall in love with the favelas is finally coming to Blu-ray! Right after payday too! Perfect! Will definitely be getting this on release day! Wish they would re-release the City of Men TV series and movie on Blu-ray too...
