Why do the Blu-Rays get all the cool stuff? Anyway, I'll definitely buy the SE DVD!

I would assume, we'll see more exclusive blu-ray features in the not too distant future. Giving movie buffs incentive to pay more for the blu-ray disc and/or upgrade our home entertainment systems if we haven't done so already. Personally, I think, it's a simple cash grab considering all these new COTLD features don't seem to add up to much. Sorry, to see Blue Underground pulling this kind of thing.
love the cover, really wish they could use the Gates of Hell title instead
The City of the Living Dead title is closer to the original Italian one, which translates roughly as Fear in the City of the Living Dead.

I think Morgan Spurlock should make a feature-length documentary about the search to figure out the meaning behind this film's ending. Interview people who worked on it, ask film critics, authors, philosophers, etc.
Also: They need to release City of the Walking Dead on Blu-ray, with a Quentin Tarantino commentary.

The newly created special features on the Blu-ray total over 90 minutes and the DVD only had enough room for the main 32-minute Making Of featurette. I created most of these and while it's a shame my work is not on the DVD, it was definitely not a cash grab on the part of Blue Underground.
It is also not listed but the Catriona MacColl interview (10min) and the Marketing of the Dead gallery (13min) are 1080p while the rest were created using SD footage.

A few people discuss the ending of the film during the interviews but I don't think anyone but Fulci knows what it means - I certainly don't.

I hope the release is properly done. Maniac was great but my other Blue Underground release, The Crazies, was not. Everytime I'm about to make a purchase of these cult horror classics, I'm instantly reminded if the DVD is corrupted or not. Hopefully my previous purchase of The Crazies and Zombi 2 were just corrupted flukes.
I'll definitely buy it.

The ending holds no meaning. They damaged the last bit of film and decided they could get away with the ending because the rest of the film was so strange and plotless.

Cool, you're the guy to talk to. Maybe I should have phrased it: SEEMS like a cash grab.
I have a question then. If dvd space is the thing, why not release a two disc edition? Certainly City of the Living Dead is as popular or more popular than Living Dead at Manchester Morgue or Dead & Buried, no?
I just don't agree with holding out on standard def owners IF it makes sense, economically, for BU to go both ways.

They considered a 2-disc, which is more to manufacture and has a higher retail price. As DVDs age, their retail price drops - and once a DVD has dropped to $10-$15, a special edition/new transfer of that movie will not do as well. Also, retail and rental outlets that already have the title in their library usually skip the special editions. So BU decided on a single disc DVD, putting the rest on the Blu-ray as exclusives.
All of this aside, the new transfer is the star of this show and is night an day next to the old one. I think people will be happy with whatever version they pick up.

Well, no doubt there. The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue DVD was top notch. Between this and the Road Warrior Blu, I'm seriously considering getting a bluray player. What can I say, I've been holding out. It's hard passing up $3 DVDs
