You would think so. A film such as this needs to be done properly or not at all.

What a descriptive Roger Ebert quote they've placed on the back.
I don't really like the new artwork,I found the first DVD at Zellers for like $6 it's still the old snapcase but that was the poster for the movie.
I am all for Blu-ray, love the format for the clarity you get, BD live capabilities, In movie experience, etc. But there are just some movies that really do not ever need to be put on Blu-ray unless MAJOR work is done to it. Both in the clean up AND in the effects department. This is one of them. The already quaint effects are made absolutely laugh-inducing through the upgrade to Blu-ray. This movie is best kept at VHS quality (DVD even reveals way too much of the cheap effects). Couple all of that with the fact the special features are slight, no way even at a previously viewed price of 2.99 at Blockbuster would I get the Blu-ray.
Still need to see this.
For those who have Netflix, you can view it on Instant Watching any time you like.
I wish if anything they could just replicate the digibook as an inside booklet. Sorta like Natural Born Killers did with the second release. I have noticed warner re-releases a lot of bluray title fairly close to each other
I loved this movie. I will wait for the release and then possibly decide between the digibook and this one.
I wish the remake would include this along with it, similar to what was done with The Day the Earth Stood Still.
I would take digibook any day. One thing though is if it affects the price. I have seen this movie enough now not to own it and i still didnt love the original
Sadly this is one of the few BDs where the upgrade wasn't sufficient to convince me to pay the asking price. Maybe if it'd been cleaned up a bit more, but as it stands I can make do with the DVD until this drops to a fiver or so... I wonder if Warner simply rushed it out to cash in on the remake? Still love the film though.
wouldn't it be simpler to just release the non-digibook versions at the same time and let people decide? silly hollywood. lol
It's the same release as before, only without the Digibook cover. Since I don't have this on Blu-ray yet, I really have no problem getting either one.
