How many versions of the Fifth Element have there been now? This is getting ridiculous...
Excellent
I hope that this SE of The Fifth Element has all the features of the R2 UK SE (minus the rubbish transfer).
That Leon SE sounds awesome.
That Leon SE sounds awesome.
The UK release of the Fifth Element doesn't have a 'rubbish' transfer. It's inferior to the R1/R3 discs, but it's certainly not terrible by any means. There are plenty worse out there...
me too
I too am waiting fellow Ghost Brother

anyway, i love Leon, i think it's a superb film. I already own the Superbit version though, howeve,r according to this the new SE will include the Superbit transfer? so DTS wil be there? Sorta likea Superbit Deluxe???
idk.
I'll have to think long and hard about this. Leon is one of those films I would actually like to watch some special features on.
I was nevver a FE fan so I could kinda care less :\
but this is like the 3rd one out now right? lol

I already have the uncut intnl version of Leon, but the 5th element Ill get
Woooo!
Heard about this a few weeks ago, but I'm definitely getting both of them.
This is an absolute joke. The Superbit versions of both these films are superb. I doubt that the video and audio quality can be improved much... if at all. Throwing in a second disc of needless extras will cost Columbia a few pennies and all you suckers about twenty bucks!
I don't understand how can be so many people who loves the Fifth Element, I been fan of the science fiction for more than twenty years, I have seen almost every movie of this genre and this is the worst of all.
I can't deny Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman are great actors, but the rest it's just like an old forgotten project of Ed Wood.

hmmm
Aaron, just because some of us want to upgrade from our no-frills 1st release dvd doesn't make us "suckers". If the new release has DTS and a new digital transfer, I'll be happy to buy it. If not, I'll just get the Superbit edition. I happen to go for the best Picture/sound I can get. Besides, this movies been out a lONG time now. It's not like they just released it, and then went back for a double-dip 6 months later.
Matt, I love Sci-fi also, but I disagree with you. I loved this movie. The color, the acting, the action; all we're really well done. I think it's one of the better sci-fi films ever made(in a not so series way) This movie doesn't take itself to serious, and it's a great popcorn film. It can't compare to James Cameron’s Aliens (SE DVD), but it's still a very good movie

A QUALITY FILM LIKE LEON DESERVES THE S.E. TREATMENT CANT WAIT!!
Cant wait to get fifth element.
As for leon I already have the uncut version so I'm good. If you dont have leon already get this version cause its one of the most underrated movies I know. Its awesome
I'll get both.
I never picked up Leon, or the Professional, whatever the heck you want to call it, so this will be the one i definitely buy!
Both are favourites of mine, especially Leon. The international version is definitely the better but that doesn't mean The Professional was cut, they are just different versions targeted at different audiences. The latter being for those that like action movies. Might get this release for the extras, as Besson movies tend to lack all but the basics where extras are concerned.

The Superbit Edition contains what is supposed to be the best possible video and includes DTS sound. The point I was making is that the extras in most of these "double-dips" are worthless padding. Why didn't they just release it as a Superbit Deluxe Edition? I am more than happy to upgrade for a worthwhile Special Edition, however, Columbia has been notoriously re-releasing the same titles in numerous configurations for the last couple of years. This practice will continue as long as, yes, there are suckers willing to buy. Sorry guy, but its true.

Another Fifth Element....i think I will just keep my superbit version. It has such a cult following since being released on video, why wasn't this version put out earlier?
Wow - Leon in superbit and extras - bring it on

yeah
"Columbia has been notoriously re-releasing the same titles in numerous configurations for the last couple of years."
yeah, imean, when Spiderman came out on DVD, I never bought it so I picked it up when they re-released it; i got the sueprbit version becuase I knew it was a good movie but I could careless about the extras.
But that super amazing spectacular double 3 disk set that they also released was a joke. All they did was make another disk of extras and pack it in w/ the previous release! I mean they should have alteast given it a little better transfer to put that stupid superbit commentary on there....ugh

I thought I read somewhere that Natalie Portman recorded a commentary track for this Leon SE (it was mentioned in being in some magazine as reported by a poster at Home Theater Forum I think).
5th element
Man, I think it is great the 5th element is getting a SE treatment. I know the R2 has had it for ages. I wonder why it took R1 so long to get it? I love this movie though, Besson did a remarkable job.
Note the 'and more' part of the news article. We don't have the full specs yet so it's quite possible that a commentary maybe included. We'll let you know. Ta
Hmm...I think I saw a spec. ed. Fifth Element in the stores for $5.99. And I still think it's too much. I'll wait for it to come on SciFi. Yes, it's not a good movie.
Fantastic cover for Leon but a real average one for Fifth Element. It's a shame that there is no mention of a commentary track for either disc - I think that it would be interesting to hear from the director on fifth in regards to his concepts and ideas when putting this film together.
That is some mighty fine, i said might fine art work for Leon, much nicer than my current R2 artwork, maybe i will trade up
However the artowrk for Fifth element is terrible, it looks a mess, the R2 SE is much nicer...
have a nice day

I'm glad I waited. I was at Best Buy yesterday, and almost picked up the Superbit version of The 5th Element. High Def transfer and DTS, can't wait!! I'm just crossing my fingers that it has some Deleted Footage also. =-) If not, 2 out of 3 isn't bad!
Sweet Jesus! the covers look so awesome. Now i defenitely cant wait to get fifth element.
I thought the Superbit DTS track on the Leon disc was a crappy one that everyone said to stay away from. Will this new release be re-mastered or will it be the same one with the same audio problems?
