I’d like it if Fox keeps the 360Sound intact for vintage listeners and an alternative track in DOLBY TrueHD 7.1.
Thou my experience says none of the above will be used just another greedy studio grabbing our money. I bet the extras are as dreadful as the artwork. Why can’t studios use the original artwork that promoted the film is that hard too do?
I’d only be watching it for the giant cockroach scene got love those cockroaches, damn they are big! :D
Its out now and I guess Fox doesn’t care about vintage soundtrack preservations it doesn’t appear to have Sound 360º format wow I guess with all these channels like 7.1 it can’t be formatted and configured to work in the same way as it did when exhibited in selected cinemas with (Sound 360º
.
Well I guess we’d have to grim and bear with LPCM 7.1 I hope the mix isn’t totally screwed up with fake stereo surrounds that have tail, tail signs of coming off the front left and right like in some DVD titles that I have noticed over years.
dts hd master audio 6.1 I don’t care for the format so I wonder if the rear back surrounds on the LPCM 7.1 are stereo or just duel monaural surrounds like on The Final Countdown (1980).

I saw this flick as a child and it used to scare me a lot back then... Giant scorpions, killer cockroaches and a that weird psychedelic sky. In fact, Damnation Alley is a bad movie indeed, but as some other guys have said, "bad" for the 70's means better than most of the garbage we get these days, so I'd love to see it again. Plus: The much admired and missed maestro Jerry Goldsmith, as usual, did a magnificent work scoring this movie.
Just to clarify, even though I thought this movie was bad way back in the 70's, even bad movies from the 70's are 1,000 times better, or at least more entertaining, than most stuff being made today. Plus, no CGI!!! I haven't seen DAMNATION ALLEY in many years and it's definitely not one of my favorites from that era, but I can't wait to buy this DVD. It's a MUST purchase and I urge others to check it out and see if they can have some fun with it. I'm sure I'll enjoy the film a lot more today than I did back in 1977, warts and all. Plus, didn't Anchor Bay promise this movie on DVD years ago and never got it out there for whatever reason? That burned. And now Shout has finally delivered so I'm supporting this release on day one! That DVD cover is incredible and Shout always delivers a top-of-the-line product. Bring me on those cockroaches!!!
Loved the killer cockroaches!
Damn, I hope this has some cool extras. Maybe commentary with roach wranglers.
I was about 15 when this originally opened and I remember thinking it sucked even then. Nowadays, it's a must purchase just for the retro action and bad cheesy effects (that rug of cockroaches comes to mind). That is a great DVD cover, but keep your expectations very low when watching the film. It's bad, but still fun if you know what you're in for.
What a fantastic cover that is. I'm sure the film will have nothing to do with it, but still.
Haven't even heard of this, but that cover is badasstastic. I'll look this up.
My inner child smiles. Will buy.
the cover looks ten times more impressive than the movie
