Universal Home Video has officially announced Dave Chappelle's Block Party, a mix of Chappelle's sketch comedy and musical interludes, inspired in part by the 1973 documentary Wattstax. It will be available in seperate rated (full frame only) and unrated editions from the 13th June this year. Each should retail at around $29.98. Extras on the unrated edition will include extended musical acts, a making of featurette, and more. We've attached the official artwork below, along with a look at the menu system:

I love Dave Chappelle I love Michel Gondry I love Hip Hop But I hate I want to blow up Unrated and uncut DVD's just come out with one and if it really is unrated who cares you know what to expect from this DVD there is no reason for two versions.
Why does a comedy/music concert movie need a unrated edition??? I mean come on, dont we already ahve enough uneeded unrated movies out???
I really wanted to see this. I was surprised that this wasn't a wider release.

I will gladly add this to my DVD collection.
I caught this in theaters awhile back and it was a great movie. But for being a concert movie, there was actually little performance in the movie. Most of it was the set up leading to the concert. I'm hoping that the unrated cut will mostly contain longer performances of the show.

Atleast he was more tolerable than Carlos Mencia..This movie doesn't look that bad, though.

I liked this movie. I`ll buy it when it comes out. And that artwork rocks.
i am not what you would call a hip hop enthusiast, but all of the bands/groups/artist in this film are awesome. This film scores points on a "concert film" level alone. Besides, maybe if a lot of people buy this film, Chapelle will actually finish and air the third season of Chapelle's show.

Chappelle did Inside the Actors Studio with Lipton and it was pretty good. Hearing James Lipton say "you dont know who you are f*cking with" was priceless. He talked a bit about his Africa excursion and it was quite telling. Basicly he was offered 50 million to continue the Chapelle Show, he didnt like the problems that would come with that kind of money. So he walked. Now he says hes "sort of rich b****h." Sweet cover art.

Wait, you said that the Rated is in fullscreen. But you never said anything about the unrated, thats in widescreen right? It better be.
Yeah unrated is available in widescreen and full screen.
Didn't see this cause I'm kind of boycotting Chappelle... I'm p**sed he just walks away from the show. I still don't even know why he left, the "reasons" he gives are so cloudy and ever-changing. If I were him, I'd come back to do the show because Mencia doing a bad version rip-off of Chappelles show should be enough reason alone to come back.

No movie ever needs an unrated edition in my opinion, the only things I approve of are Director's Cuts, cuts the directors actually do themselves. Like Ridley Scott's cut of Kingdom of Heaven, which was originally cut to make it more theatrical friendly.
