Why do people keep referring to this piece of *bleep* as a remake of the Romero film? It is no such thing. I had the misfortune of watching this last night and the only thing is has in common with the original is the title and some character names. The plot is completely different, and no reference is made to anything Romero, not in the credits and not in the film itself.

I've seen this as well, and it is quite honestly the worst remake I've seen [Yes, worse than "The Fog"], and possibly in my top 10 worst movies in general. I just could not even bear it. It's one of those movies where you have to turn it off and come back to it in order to finish it, because it's so boring and/or mindnumbingly horrible.
For those who are fortune enough to have not seen this; I’ll do you a favour and help you save some money; its awful. Not 'its just my opinion but I thought it was awful' but it really is genuinely awful.
I personally have no problems with remakes and do not hold up Romero’s original as sacred cows that shalt never hear a bad word said against, these are movies, not sacred text, so a remake is fine by me.
But Jesus this movie is bad, bad, bad; zombies that can walk on the ceiling (I kid you not!), Vegetarian zombies, Sped-up film zombies (to make them look like they can move really fast). No plot (Act 2 is just: run, shoot, run, black guy makes a quip, run, shoot, run……….continuously).
Its an absolute unmitigated disaster.
Of all the Romero movie’s to have a successful remake, this is the one most likely.
Unlike Night ’90 and Dawn ’04:
· It didn’t have much to live up to, no one really was all that crazy for Day ’85,
· It had a well seasoned and experienced director with numerous good horror movies under his belt.
· It was made right in the middle of Zombie movie resurgence in Hollywood.
So how the hell it ended-up so bloody awful is something of a complete mystery.
And just so everyone is aware, Ving Rhames may get top billing, but his appearance is strictly a brief cameo and his role is over in the movie at the 30 minute mark.
Avoid this movie like you would a sledghammer in the testicles.

I'll probably still watch it but that cover is going to put a lot of people off.
This looks awful! Now with that said..I can't wait to see it.
thank god this is going straight to dvd
Oh why oh why remake the classics? GET A NEW IDEA HOLLYWOOD!
At least the cover gets half a laugh...

Those were good, in fact I would even say they were both better than the originals.
Yeah, I'd agree. NOTLD I love it how they transformed the Barbara character from a 50's era stereotype useless screaming catatonic woman to a bottie kicker. And Tom Savini directed it god bless him. I don't own a copy of the original and don't think I'd bother watching it again.
And the Dawn Remake was just plain awesome.
That is the worst cover I've seen to date though. And Ving Rhames, why? I mean he should be getting roles in great films.

Boy that cover is bad. I don't remember this ever going to theaters. Before I had faith in this 'cause the '90s remake of NOTLD was good as well as the Dawn of the Dead remake. But I lost hope for it.
Ah irony...
George Romero sucks anyway.

Blasphemer!
That pretty much sums it up for me as well. I enjoyed the '90 version of NOTLD, but it simply can't match the original in terms of atmosphere and tone. I will spare everyone my bashing of the Dawn remake, because I could go on for days about how bad it is.

Honestly! I mean, I like the remake of Night, and Dawn was kinda iffy for me, but overall not a bad movie. But to say that they are better than their original counterparts... I dunno...

Dawn of the Dead remake was actually very good in my opinion. But this...just...no. It looks pretty bad.
Boy this looks terrible, but If I own the c**ppy remakes to Night and Dawn, then I'm going to own the c**ppy remake to Day.
Damn me and my completeist ways!

There's lots of reasons for this, the most common can be sorted by pressing Ctrl and F5 together. This will do a full refresh.
If it's not that then either you have a browser extension installed that's messing up the info that it normally sends to our site, or you are accessing the website from behind an incorrectly configured proxy server.

Oh, my... This is, well... kind of a shock! A Romero remake going DTV... With a good cast (except for Cannon) at that, too. My. My, my, my. And how do they expect this to sell with that cover, anyway? It's... not scary, not funny, not eye-catching. It's just... demented. I'm really shocked, I have to say.
I don't know how you photoshop puke to look fake but they actually pulled it off, what horrible cover art. A 5 year old with Microsoft Paint could do far better then this. Such a shame this seems like such a terrible movie, I wish people other then Romero would leave his movies/series alone.
That is one ugly Zombie DVD cover.

It may be a bad Movie, but ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING That has Ving Rhams in it,its going to be worth watching, that guy is one of the best actors out thereand I could watch that guy in Anything!
i've been looking forward to this remake. but that cover art is very bad.

wanted to see this movie wondered when it was gonna come out now i know what a shame that dawn of the dead was awesome now this one goes to direct to video
i remember seeing the trailer ages ago and it looked like sh*t so this doesn't surprise me.
hmmm...putting Nick Cannon On Your Dvd Cover Sure to sell movies...lmao!!!
When did studios start putting screenplay writer credits on the cover? ....who cares. Next thing you know the Best Boy Grip credit will be on the cover.
This didnt get theaters? LOL
Yep, disappointed to hear that the film has been released Direct to DVD (guess the film must be bad)... as I enjoyed the Dawn of the Dead remake with Ving Rhames.
Hopefully, it will be one of those films so bad that it is enjoyable...

That just shows how lousy it is if the studio wants to get rid of it.

Yeah, she has lost it since.

Wow... this has to be the most grotesque and absurd DVD artwork I've ever seen. Seriously, who would, in their righteous mind, put a puking zombie on the cover instead of Ving Rhames or Mena Suvari? Did she get THAT ugly since "Sugar and Spice"?
Not surprised at all this bypassed a theatrical run completely.
oh dear, I knew about this. there was a thearical poster that is pretty good actually, why dont they use it ? I bet this would sell a few more, cause that cover IS awful !
Well at least we now know where this movie went. I saw the trailer probably over a year ago and it looked horrible. I guess it really was.
wow! must be bad to miss the cinema release!
This must be bad if they delayed the release date several times after poor test screenings, did reshoots, and then banished it to home video. What a waste of 18 million dollars, and so much for Steve Miner's comeback to the big screen.

Thats supposed to be vomit?!? I thought he was trying to eat Big Bird.
I just don't get it. Mena is a decently attractive woman, Ving is a recognizable star... and the place THIS on the cover?!?! Unless it was in their contract not to be part of the advertising, it makes no sense. I love me some Zombie movies, and some flesh eaters, so I will probably buy this... I have done worse in the past.
Well it's got some horror cred at the helm. Steve Miner directed two Friday The 13th's and one Halloween sequel!
That cover is so bad. CHANGE IT!!!!!
BTW, heard about it. Saw a trailer about a year ago and never heard from it again.

I've never even heard of this remake.... when was this made?
Ving Rhames has gone to an all-time low...
I saw this movie at a test screening. Believe me, that cover is accurate to the audience reaction to the movie.

Contagium was so unfathomably horrible it's difficult to even refer to it as a film.
I have to agree this is one of the worst covers I've ever seen. anyone who excercises this poor of judgement on cover art can't have done too good a job on the film itself.

Wondered what happended to this. I had high hopes given how enjoyable Lake Placid was but the reviews on imdb aren't exactly favourable. Poor Ving Rhames. At least Dawn of the Dead was good.
I read that Optimum had optioned this for distribution before it was shot so it might make it into cinemas in the UK. Doubt they'll be throwing much weight behind it though.
That cover is atrocious. The hideousness of the image aside if you're going to decide the vomit needs eyes and ears at least motion blur them so it doesn't look so sh*t.

did this even arrive in theaters? I remember seeing the trailer online some time ago, but I didn't hear anything about a theatrical release....
