Hey thanks guys! ordered, Beyond, suspiria, tenebre and inferno :-) As stated earlier i have sincere doubts about AB issuing anything anymore
Yep, I got Inferno, Thirst and Switchblade Romance from Amazon UK towards the end of last year. The shipping is manageable, and they got to me in 3 or 4 days.
Arrow will be releasing both of those titles - you might like to try ordering them via Amazon.co.uk.
They should be region-free.
The Wilson Bros

anyone got a good site to get the Arrow releases in the US? (i am guessing they are region free) I am looking for Tenebre and Phenomina
They emailed us, too - nice to know that it's going to be region-free.

According to an email I got today from Blue Underground... "Blue Underground's Blu-ray of DEEP RED will be ALL REGIONS (no region coding)". Excellent news!

I am interested in knowing which is the best of the 2 Arrow's version or BU's version...and what the differences are
I own the Anchor Bay set with Tenebre and Im happy with that version..is there any reason to really upgrade or double dip ?

I certainly wasn't attacking BU at all. (I currently have 15 of their titles on Blu-ray, with 2 on pre-order.) All I was trying to point out was that the Arrow release had much better cover art (4 of them!) for their release. That said, I see now that BU have changed their cover art for their upcoming DVD/Blu-ray release(s). Definitely an improvement! I'll probably end up getting this one too.
I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed with Arrow's Inferno release, but the multi-cover gimmick is fun. I can't afford to import too many more of their releases right now, though I'd love to compare the image quality between them and BU. I suppose BU doesn't own the rights to Tenebre and Phenomena, so I will be importing those Arrow releases some day. We all know Starz has no interest in continuing Anchor Bay's legacy of cult horror releases.
toonloon - Argento is primarily a visual filmmaker and his style has been both praised and criticised over the years. The Italian language is an intense and passionate one, so we can appreciate that there are times when it can be a little tricky to keep up (especially with the delectable Daria Nicolodi) during some of the more dialogue-driven scenes.
For whatever reason, review copies of Arrow's release didn't come our way, so we can't really comment upon the extras on that particular release.

Gabe - The extras are much more comprehensive in the Arrow version and the artwork is waaay better. Plus I'd rather support a UK based company AND Arrow are damn fine one who care about their customers, so I'm not outright dismissing BU discs. I haven't gotten round to ordering Maniac yet, but I do have their Bird With a Crystal Plumage.
Wilson Bros. - I totally agree on the Italin. However, I tried watching in Italian and for some bizarre reason, I just couldn't keep up with the subtitles. I have 40+ Criterion BDs and over half of them are foreign language, and I have no problems. I've found with Argento that is camera movements and the composition of the images are so interesting/startling that I was distracted from the subtitles. It's never happened to me before, so perhaps it was the frame of mind I was on, or maybe the subtitles aren't truncated enough and go too quick for me.
Let me know if you agree. (I'm not expecting anyone to.)

That's cool, Gabe. As you well know, Profondo Rosso is a masterpiece, The Hatchet Murders (or any other incarnation of the shorter one) is hack job.
There really is no comparison.
Oh, and we just prefer to watch the whole thing in Italian, even if you lose David Hemmings' own voice on the English dub; the richness and beauty of the Italian language, coupled with the more natural voices more than make up for the trivial fact that it's not in English.

Clearly Wilsons, I wasn't referring to your posts, I was thinking of two other repliers. I'm more and more bummed out that it won't include the long cut with those few scenes in Italian the more I think about it. I'm going to have to decide between the better dub or the better cut. Life is stressful. Seriously though, Deep Red is one of my favorite movies ever made, not just one of my favorite Argento films. I highly recommend the long cut.
The full-length cut was never fully dubbed into English - the lousy shorter version (which was rather generically known as The Hatchet Murders in some territories) was dubbed and most of that pesky character material that was excised wasn't dubbed.

I really hope this uncensored English version isn't the version that cuts back & forth between English and Italian w/ subtitles. I'd rather watch it all in English or all subtitles. I can deal with the c**ppy cover as long as I finally have a version that's all in English.
The Arrow release has got both cuts. We certainly don't dismiss Blue Underground releases before theey're relesed, Gabe.

What cut is the Arrow release? And when did it become a competition so fierce people started dismissing BU releases outright without seeing it or even reading a review?
Same c**p cover. Is it a rights issue or are they just plain lazy over at BU? Another plus for the Arrow release.
The transfer of the Blue Underground copy is supposedly coming from the original negative.

Just watched this on monday from Arrow. Arrow wins this one, hands down.
Would be interesting to see if the Blue Underground copy is region-free...

I gotta admit that I'm disappointed they're separating the two versions. I prefer the longer cut and the English dubbing, and didn't mind the DVD release that cut to Italian for the un-dubbed scenes. Bummer.
