I love this film, but the quality on my original Warner release is actually decent, so I won't be in a hurry to upgrade any time soon.
One of the most frightening films of all time. Sends shivers up mu spine just thinking about it.
Certainly worthy for a special edition. I'm squeeling like a pig .
I wonder if they will clean up the film. I may go for this, i have the original but always worth a re-look if they clean things up.
"A full remastered presentation"
Yup, they've cleaned it up. See their work on THE ROAD WARRIOR HD DVD for how well they tend do this (read: very well).

Everyone just be glad they didn't call it the "squeeling like a pig" edition. Deluxe is fine by me.

Woo hoo, time to dust off the ol' banjo. I think this movie is the real reason why Angelina Jolie hates her dad so much.
I can hear those dueling banjos now!!! Another Warner must buy along with the Brando doc in October!
Never bought and will be picking this up! Classic
Yes! More classics on HD formats.
It's the "Pretty Mouth", or "Dueling Banjos" edition!

The original DVD is quite old(it's a flipper), it's in serious need of a clean-up. The original DVD is in one of the dreaded WB snappers, it has no animated menus and the picture and sound are just not DVD worthy. I'll be getting the Blu-ray, one of those movies that you dread to watch but are drawn to. A powerful man vs. nature / man vs. man story. Can't wait for this.

Great film. Honestly, though, I can wait until this goes down to 5 bucks at my local Best Buy.
I can only hope they give Southern Comfort the same treatment!
Artwork added...
Mmmm - could have been worse!
This artwok is very disappointing- but not horrible.
Is it me or does that artwork kinda suck? Excited about the release though. I won't hesitate to double dip this one.
I just recently bought the snapper case DVD of this but I'll be upgrading for sure. The movie really aged well, it's still as effective as when it was released.
It is the" Why are you walking funny, Your butt hurt? Edition.

Warners have been pretty good about not jumping on the stupid-names-for-re-releases bandwagon. For their older films in particular, I love how they often use the original poster art too. Much more respectful of their films than some of the other companies, and their re-releases are generally worthy of a second purchase too.

Why didnt they keep the original artwork with the hand holding the gun coming out of the water and put a neat slipcover on it like the special edition of the thing?
i don't understand why Warner Bros quit releasing clssics in digi packs...fans been waitng for this releaes for 600 years, the least they can do is release the first pressings in a digi pack or any better packaging...
Not the best art ever, but not bad.
Pathetic artwork considering how crazy this movie gets.I guess Warner Brothers is trying to market it to a wider audience.

Yes I agree, I just couldn't resist posting that. Although dueling banjos edition does have a great ring to it. "Purdy Mouth Edition" might be good for Deep Throat, but not this.

Quote: Burbank, Calif., June 11, 2007 -- Deliverance – one of the screen’s most powerful man vs. nature adventure that was a motion picture shocker of the ‘70s -- debuts September 18 as a 35th Anniversary Deluxe Edition DVD from Warner Home Video (WHV).
The story of four Atlanta “weekend warriors” who set off in canoes down a dangerous Georgia river and discover a wilderness of terror has been remastered and amplified with remarkable new extras including retrospective featurettes and director commentary. The DVD will sell for $19.97 SRP. It will also be debuting simultaneously in both HD DVD and Blu-ray disc and will be available for $28.99 SRP. Order due date for all is August 18.
Directed by John Boorman (Excalibur, Hope and Glory) and adapted by James Dickey from his novel, Deliverance was nominated for three Academy Awards® including Best Picture and Best Director. Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty and Ronny Cox star as the four friends whose canoeing weekend turns into a horrifying test of survival. Boorman’s taut direction builds the tension and fear to a raging climax, as the men travel way beyond their comfort zone and are forced to face more than they could have ever imagined. Vilmos Zsigmond’s expert cinematography captures the wilderness of forest and river, while Eric Weissberg’s classic musical theme, “Dueling Banjos,” provides a perfect counterpoint to the action.
Special Features
* Commentary by John Boorman [Director Boorman takes a journey down the river and discusses the adventures, the team, the controversy and what it took to make Deliverance a classic film.]
