Quote: The film chronicles the adventures of wisecracking pre-teen Greg Heffley, who must somehow survive the scariest time of anyone’s life… middle school. Convinced it’s the “dumbest idea ever invented,” Heffley considers junior high school a place rigged with hundreds of social landmines, not the least of which are wedgies, swirlies, bullies, lunchtime banishment of the cafeteria floor and a festering piece of cheese with nuclear cooties that he must overcome to become popular. His diary — or “journal” — chronicles his thoughts, tales of family trials and tribulations, and (would be) schoolyard triumphs.

lol. Every movie benefits from HD. Movies with great cinematography look just as good as c**ppy summer blockbusters.

When I first started buying blu-rays, I had the attitude that I would save my money and only buy the ones that had lots of action as well. But as my collection grew I realized that my favorite blu-rays are of classic movies. Getting to see them with a level of detail that I never thought existed on the original film is amazing. And old black and white movies...droool.
Finally! About time! I actually enjoyed this movie a whole lot. Zachary Gordon did a great job in this movie as Greg Heffley. I started to read the book and I thought that they were both a good match. Can't wait for this to come out. Way better than that godawful "Alice in Wonderland."
I too had that attitude about Blu-ray when I first got it. Although this particular film isn't really the best example since the cinematography isn't noteworthy, most films do benefit from the higher definition image, even those non-actiony.
This looked pretty terrible. Not checking it out..at all.
A fun, witty movie that didn't talk down to parents and adults supervising their kids. Hopefully next year's sequel will follow those rules too.
I give it a rent.
Blu-Ray Combo Pack WILL BE MINE!!!! DAY 1 PURCHASE!!!!

I dont know what s**t film you watched but this was awful. Zachary Gordon hands down sucked. Rowley was awful and so was Fregley. Everything was just bad and unfunny about it. Your taste must be low grade if you think "Alice in Wonderland" was awful and this was great.

Stevepulaski, I was completely disappointed with Alice in Wonderland. It didn't meet the expectations I needed. I wished I did like it but I was completely disappointed. The original classic animated film was much better and I know the remake is more of a sequel but it felt like it was another Narnia movie. That's fine if you don't like this movie, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, but don't take my comment about it on me, okay? I respect people for what they like/dislike, but they shouldn't take anything harsh about it on me. It's fine if you think this movie is awful and I totally understand how you feel. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Okay?
Like I said, I thoroughly understand what you thought of DIARY OF A WIMPY KID, but it's just a matter of opinion, and I totally respect that. OK?

I came off as an ass an I apologize. I have no problem with you, but still cant see how you saw this was great. Now the original "Alice in Wonderland" is far superior in quality to Tim Burton's, but its not the worst thing TB's done. I find DOWK to be the worst film of the year though.

I actually found "Marmaduke" to be the worst film of the year...IMO!!!

Although, this movie is best saved for a rental. A buy, in my opinion, is kind of a misstep. Besides, the BD's you people should buy are summer blockbusters or movies with a lot of CGI/special effects.
