i'm sorry to let yoy all down even myself, but i have got an original cut of die hard 2 which has more violence in it even more than the the region 1 dvd which i have got. it must have been released on some cinema when it came out has i purchased it whilst on holiday in spain. so what ever happened to this version? eg/ when robert patrick shoots the guy my version his brain comes out of the back of his head. this is just one example. so someone do some digging and get this print on dvd.

Thats true. I have a workprint on DVD that includes this scene in full (as well as the MPAA cuts made to violence).

Okay, so some people have said that the DVDs in this particular collection will be cut. Is that true? I really don't hope that's the case because then nobody will buy this.

Hopefully the transfer on Die Hard With A Vengence will be better than the atrocious one that was in the last R1 box-set - there was edge enhancement and chroma noise like you wouldn't believe. The thing was just ghastly...

I just had a thought - perhaps the Die Hard movies will all be on high-def around the same time that the new one comes out on standard DVD?
There seems to be a trend that for every sequel coming out, a new version of the original is released a few months before. I wonder why...? I'm surprised Diseny isn't doing something for "Pirates." I remember they came out with a "lost disc" edition. Maybe they're preparing a "lost five minutes" ediiton...
I love DH, and have the first two, but I'll already wait for a HD release.

great cover
Is it me or is the flame inset graphic on the bottom right corner the same on the first 2 covers and expanded a little on vengeance?

Simple - just wait for the 4 movie box set - why would anyone waste their time with this?
Nic Mall wrote: How cut are the cut versions? Is it just a few seconds (headbutts and such) or proper cuts?"With A Vengeance" is the only one still cut over here, but it's ludicrously done, dubbing out a lot of the bad language so it sounds like a tv version. There's also a couple of violent scenes trimmed slightly, like the girl knifing the guy in the bank & the shootout in the bank elevator.
I got the single disc editions of the ultimate collection 3 for $20 at Best Buy one day. Great deal considering I only like 2 of the movies (the first and third) and it's got anamorphic video and the DTS tracks. That's all I need. Maybe one day I will buy that ultimate collection, but not at the moment.
Anyway, this set looks like a c**p pack.

It does hella look like that.
I like the DVD art. But why not wait for the Fourth. Just do some special re-release with new art or something.

Is it just me or do those covers remind you a lot of the "24" covers?
I will only buy a special edition of Die Hard and probably Die Hard 2 as well, depending on the new things they have which probably won't be many. I'm in the minority who really does not like Die Hard With a Vengeance so I won't be buying it.
If and only if this new Die Hard movie coming out this summer is the last one will I invest in a box set of this series. These are fun movies but the triple dipping that goes on these days is just not worth the investment. Plus they play them enough on cable to get a dose now and again to resist making room on the shelf for another box set.
The only thing I like about this release is the artwork, perfectly happy with the 6 disc set
Steelbook?

The only thing I think that would make me rebuy Die Hard 2, would be including all the features from the first release and adding the deleted plan crash footage talked about in the commentary, They shot footage of the passangers during the crash but said it was to intense. So I guess I'll stay with the original 6 disc set till that happens

I posted links to these week ago on the forum (also artwork). I own the 6-disc set so I don't think I'll upgrade (or downgrade if you will). The artwork is pretty good though.
These are nice, BUT I rather get it on Blu-Ray. Fox, I hope you are hearing this please release these beauties on Blu-Ray. Already have all three on DVD. Get the ball rolling and make this happen, I know might not happen anytime soon but in the near future. Die Hard trilogy needs an UPGRADE!!

DHWAV is hacked to pieces. Theres 12s violence missing, but almost every swear words been badly overdubbed ("Go take a hike!"; "Go away, Joe", "He's a flunky", etc. etc)

I've owned these for a long time now, I don't need a new version.
I understand that a Tin Metal Box is coming out for the First Die Hard thriller.
I'm tempted to go out and buy the 6 disc set right now just to spite them.
Am I the only one that thinks Bruce is taking a quick, radioactive piss on the cover for With A Vengeance?

Die Hard with a Vengeance is the worst cut on R2. Much of the violence, cut throats, bad language etc is cut and done very poorly. I would avoid it.
no point for all who have 6-Disc trilogy box.

I'll be sticking with my 6 disc set--Thank you very much.
I have the original box and don't see a reason to upgrade. The original options were awesome. This is definitely a downgrade. I agree though, nice covers.
Cool boxset, I really dig that artwork, but I bought my Die Hard Trilogy boxset in the HMV January Sale for £15, a real bargain considering you get 6 Discs of pure McClain!
Nice covers except for the orange camera flare? flame? at the lower right corner. But i think i'll wait for the steelbook version of part 1, Along with the Kingdom of Heaven steelbook, and robocop lenticular. Since i don't have these films yet, and im a sucker for nice packaging.
I only own the first one on DVD but this box set seems fun, i will pick it up.
I think I'll hold off for the inevitable 23 1/2 DISC SUPER DUPER DELUXE DIRECTOR'S COLLECTOR'S BLING BLING WHATEVA YIPPY-KAYAY EXTENDED LIMITED EDITION BOX SET!!
Money grubbing b*****ds.
Money grubbing b*****ds.
The covers are great, but I think I'll look for the 6 disc edition.

In the UK:
* Die Hard is 18 and has always been uncut
* Die Hard 2 was cut by 28 seconds in the cinema at 15 but the DVD is now 18 and uncut.
* Die Hard 3 is cut by 12 seconds, see here, including pictures: http://www.worldwidedvdforums.com/kb.php?mode=a...
Die Hard 3 is distributed by Buena Vista in the UK, instead of Fox for parts 1-2 who opted to not release it uncut at 18.
So yes only minor cuts. I forgot Die Hard 2 is now uncut. Die Hard 3 also loses DTS found on the R1, Die Hard/Die Hard 2 have DTS.

Anyone else notice that the new covers pretty much takes off the hair of Bruce Willis? To make him look more like he does in Live Free or Die Hard. Most notably on the Die Hard with a Vengeance cover. Quite funny :p
But yeah like most people here i have the old boxset which is just fine thank you very much!

I didn't like that either, it looks so out of place.

There's also a steelbook for the first movie coming out as well. I'd say the steelbook has a better cover than the German set so will get that and hope they'll make the other 2 in steelbook as well.

I also have the 6 disc boxset, and sure, it's the ugliest boxset known to man, but it's got a lot of special features. If we could just combine the great cover art of this set and the extras of that set... we'd have the Six Million Dollar Boxset - shunananananananah!

Normally, most of us hate it when DVD covers deviate from the original poster art. So often, we all whine and complain.
I gotta say, those covers look fantastic. The way the aesthetic is unified and modern, yet still maintains the unique vibe of each film.
They're the best "re-do" covers I've ever seen.

That's the best artwork I've seen for Die Hard with a Vengeance, and the art for the others is pretty nice too. Still, I'm not downgrading from a 6-disc set to a 4-disc set just for some prettier pictures and a trailer I can watch on the internet. Might trade in my 6-disc set if an 8-disc set comes out in autumn, but for now, I'm keeping my pennies.

So they re-release already a stella box set and give us less??? The original box set was a 6 disc release, all films uncut with DTS on each.
The R1 (original) box set always was the way to go I can't see this changing any time soon. The UK versions are still cut so best avoided (some are cut anyway).

Press Release:
Quote: CENTURY CITY, Calif. – Twelve terrorists. One Cop. Forty stories of sheer adventure. The odds are against John McClane… and that’s just the way he likes it. Showcasing the explosive film franchise that changed the face of the action genre, The Die Hard Collection brings all the crackling thrills from Die Hard, Die Hard 2: Die Harder and Die Hard With A Vengeance to
DVD in the ultimate box set on June 19 from Fox Home Entertainment, along with an exclusive bonus disc featuring all-new materials and Movie Money for the hotly-anticipated latest entry in the lexicon: Live Free Or Die Hard. Launching the film career of superstar Bruce Willis (Unbreakable, 12 Monkeys), the original Die Hard was the perfect confluence of talent and
inspiration, fusing fresh dialogue, gritty set-pieces and an innovative concept with the savvy direction of action maestro John McTiernan (Predator, The Hunt For Red October) and
standard-setting performances from Alan Rickman (the Harry Potter movies, Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves), Bonnie Bedelia (Needful Things, Sordid Lives), William Atherton (Ghostbusters, Real Genius) and Reginald Vel Johnson (“Family Matters,” Crocodile Dundee).
Capitalizing on the enormous success of the original, the blockbuster sequel put director Renny Harlin (The Long Kiss Goodnight, The Adventures Of Ford Fairlane) behind the camera and teamed Willis with Dennis Franz (“NYPD Blue), John Amos (Beastmaster, Doctor Dolittle 3), and bad guy William Sadler (Bill And Ted’s Bogus Journey, The Green Mile). Raising the stakes and escalating the action even further, the third installment returned McTiernan to the helm for an awesome spectacle that exploded from the claustrophobic confines of its predecessors with powerhouse performances from Academy Award®-winner Jeremy Irons (Best Actor, Reversal Of Fortune, 1990) and Oscar®-nominee Samuel L. Jackson (Best Supporting Actor, Pulp Fiction, 1994). The four-disc Die Hard Collection includes bonus materials that include audio commentaries, alternate version of Die Hard, as well as an exclusive bonus disc featuring over an hour of all-new material and a Movie Money coupon to see Live Free Or Die Hard, opening in theaters this June. The Die Hard Collection will be available for a suggested retail price of $39.98 U.S./$54.98 Canada. Prebook is May 23, 2007.

Die Hard Synopsis:
In the high-rise, high-stakes action thriller that raised the bar for the genre, superstar Bruce Willis rocks as New York City Detective John McClane, who’s in Los Angeles to spend the
holidays with his estranged wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia). But while McClane waits for Holly’s office party to end, terrorists take control of the building. As their sinister leader, Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman), and his savage henchman (Alexander Godunov), round up hostages, McClane gets ready to blast a few rounds of his own and launch a one-man war – as only McClane can!
Die Hard 2: Die Harder Synopsis:
What is it about John McClane and the holidays?! Here it is, Christmas Eve, and McClane (Bruce Willis returning to his iconic film role) is off duty in the nation’s capital. But a team of terrorists, in town to rescue a drug lord from justice, has taken over a major international airport, holding thousands of travelers hostage. Amidst a blinding blizzard, McClane must race against time to defeat the terrorists and their murderous leader (William Sadler). And if that’s not a big enough lump of coal in his stocking, he’s also contending with an inept airport police chief (Dennis Franz), the stubborn head of the army’s anti-terrorist squad, and the knowledge that his wife (Bonnie Bedelia) is trapped in a plane desperately low on fuel, circling overhead!
Die Hard With A Vengeance Synopsis:
Exploding with special effects, unexpected comedy and nonstop thrills, the third chapter of the hugely successful Die Hard series reteams film legend Bruce Willis with talented action director John McTiernan.
New York cop John McClane (Willis) just can’t seem to relax. Now he’s the personal target of the mysterious Simon (Jeremy Irons), a terrorist determined to blow up the entire city if he
doesn’t get what he wants. Accompanied by an unwilling civilian (Samuel L. Jackson), McClane careens wildly from one end of town to the other as he struggles to keep up with Simon’s deadly
game. It’s a battle of wits between a psychopathic genius and a heroic cop in this thrill-a-minute adventure that grabs you and doesn’t let go!
