Title: District 9 (IMDb)
Starring: Sharlto Copley
Released: 22nd December 2009

Quote: From producer Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) and director Neill Blomkamp comes a startlingly original sciencefiction thriller that "soars on the imagination of its creators" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone). With stunning special effects and gritty realism, the film plunges us into a world where the aliens have landed... only to be exiled to a slum on the fringes of Johannesburg. Now, one lone human discovers the mysterious secret of the extraterrestrial weapon technology. Hunted and hounded through the bizarre back alleys of an alien shantytown, he will discover what it means to be the ultimate outsider on your own planet.

Original, violent and relevant. Exactly what great sci-fi should be. Cannot wait to own this.
Oh yeah, words can't express how much better this is compared to the s**tty likes of "Transformers 2." And for the pricetag and length ($30 million dollar 113-minute movie), it didn't wear out its welcome.
Christopher and the other prawns were much more fluidly integrated and convincing than Optimus Prime.

I loved this movie so much. It was brilliant from start to finish. Such a fresh take on the sci-fi genre, which isn't a genre I'm particularly interested in, but I truly enjoyed this one. I can't wait to watch it again on DVD and fall in love with it all over again. Here's hoping for a sequel announcement any day now...!
I was not too fond of the movie either. I mean it was good to watch, but only once. I have no idea why the main lead got so many props for acting either. I found him irritating. The prawns were pretty good, but I found the movie a little heavy-handed with it's apartheid theme.
I don't regret watching it, but I definately wouldn't watch it again.

I feel sorry for retards that spent money to see horrible, fan-fare hyped movies like Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe. This was thrilling and not the kinda CGI that is noticeable. Definitely a pick up.
That was a very good movie. I was surprised how much I liked it. I will rent it. Whn I can get a used DVD below $5 I will get it.
I smell a double dip. Directors cut with short film
I don't know if I'll actually buy this movie, but I really enjoyed it when seeing in theatres.

does anyone have director's cut of district 9?

Actually, WB & Sony do have opposite stances. WB seems to only release certain films (Hangover, HP) on 2-disk DVD, but movies just as good (Terminator) only get 1 disk DVD.

No, You're a punk who loves at home with his parents, dyes his hair blue, watches wrestling on saturday nights, banned on numerous websites by the name of Frilsh, and repeats the same moronic comments on message boards over and over again. Stay on your meds!

That's where I know this guy from then, it's the same pathetic stuff as Frilsh, why people feel the need to troll websites I'll never know.........

Not to have a go at you mate, but I and no doubt others strongly object to the use of the 5th word you typed in this statement, it is both offensive and ignorant, please can you refrain from using it in future, this is a Blu Ray / DVD website where terms like this have no place in it's discussions.
Thanks,
Andy.

This looks like it'll be my New Year's Eve movie this year. I have no life so my new tradition is watching a couple movies on the last night of the year starting with a recent release. Last year it was 'Resident Evil: Degeneration'.
great, now you can see all the racism in HD. and yes I am an African and please feel free to add me to your ignore list if there is one on this website
Highres artwork added for all 3 releases...
I feel bad for the faggets that saw Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe and skipped this.

Yeah...that's sooooo much better than calling them all retards in your last, nearly identical post.

This was a brilliant movie. Loved the social commentary and the satire. Also grateful for its "delayed" release - starting with "Speed" in 1994, the window between theater and home video has been shortening at an alarming rate. I know, it's to keep in line with today's customer demand and to capitalize on popularity before it fades from the public consciousness.
However, though, I wonder why they would choose to release this after Christmas. This'd make a great stocking stuffer and sales would probably go through the roof.
Regardless, great movie. Can't wait for it on Blu-Ray.

People have to have something to spend those gift cards on after Christmas.

I guess I am in that small group that didn't like it either. Maybe it's because it was hyped up as one of the best sci fi movies... seemed like everyone was praising it and when I actually saw it... not so much praise from me. Sry.
Great movie..can't wait to own it.
The ending scene made my heart swell with emotion.
So sweet....

All the artwork is the same? Pretty lame, even if it is an awesome poster. Hoping for a steelbook!
The two disc edition will bow my mind.
