I dunno, I dig this movie but I'm not sure about buying ANOTHER edition... 20 extra minutes you say? And remastered anamorphic? Dammit, I guess I'll just have to buy it again.

I dont have the old one, so I pick this up.
Never even seen the movie, but I like Pacino and I sort of like Depp. I may pick it up.
I just bought this one for $5.99 or so, have yet to open and watch. bought it cuz it had Depp and Pacino on the cover...now I know why it was on sale, and why many titles are on sale too!
The big question is: Is this a real Director's Cut or just one of those pointless "Let's throw the deleted scenes back in and make some more money" releases that Sony loves to do?
Are there any indications on the current R1 release as to what the director's intention might be (e.g. remarks in the audio commentary as to why certain scenes were taken out)?

I think It's actually being called a Directot's Cut and not Extended Edition,so at least this should prove to be different than the usual Sony extended editions and represent trully the director's intention.
20 minutes is pretty substantial and could turn what is already a very good movie into an excellent one.

I didn't care for the movie in the first place. will 20 minutes actually make a difference?

Not according to the first few announcements. I've already seen it called "Donnie Brasco: The Extended Cut" on another news site. Hope that's just an oversight. Then again, "Casualties of War" is also called "extended cut" and that did have the director's involvement.

what a B***H!
Great movie, I already own the original SE, so I'll wait till the reviews come in before I double-dip.
I got the first R1 release and I`m happy with that. Love the movie, but I don`t think the movie needs another 20 minutes
I will be happy to buy this movie, its wonderful and the old DVD is really bad.
Wow, what a brutal cover... Using "Cutout" Filter on the background, way to go Studio...
I wish they could come up with a cover that actually looks sweet, but noooooooooo...
I might get this, but I'll be forced to make my own DVD Cover for this movie though.

I was probaly going to double dip on this one but that artwork is painful, I'll wait now.
That artwork is a fugazi(sp) i know it!
So so cover.
I LOVE the movie in its original theatrical cut. I really doubt adding 20 mins. of previously discarded footage will do anything but hindering the pace, but let's wait and see.
As for the cover art... Studios are always hitting new lows in the design department. This one does not even look as a professional work to me.

I totally love this film. Its one of the all-time great mafia story and Depp was great in this, in every scene w/ Pacino he rose to the occasion and hands in hands w/ the greats!
Although for the cover, it's miserable! I love the cover for the Special Edition that I've got (R1) but love to see the EE for this.

That cover is ass.
sony = lame
The PhotoShop gods strike again!
That's quite bad :-/
Probably will buy.
good movie not sure worth buying again
That cover is atrocious
a great movie and the upgrades are long overdue.
Hahaha, the cover art, wow. Worst I've ever seen I think.
I don't think it's all that bad. They could've come up with something better though.
I highly doubt that this will be the eventual coverart, its terrible! Looks very homemade!
They could have made better cover art but at the same time they could have made it a lot worse, like putting the heads of the characters and then having the title, that's pretty much all that coverarts do now.
