DOOM (2005)
This looked pretty stupid. I will rent it though because I loved The Rock, he is really cool. But is anyone else getting sick of all these Unrated Editions? Why dont the studios just release that version in the first place? If they film the scenes why not put them in the film. Every horror film that comes out is getting a Unrated Edition. And its not like that add anything new just some more charecter development. I'm getting tired of this.

I think this is one of the reasons for the abysmal box office this year. Most movies get watered down to get a PG-13 rating, supposedly to attract the largest audience. However, most of the public knows that in 3-4 months there will be the unrated edition available on DVD.
That said, Doom doesn't really fall into that category. It was rated R. Releasing an UNRATED or NC-17 movie to theaters is suicide. Most theaters won't carry them.

Which is why it's looking more and more that the theatrical release is just a sneak peak for the DVD.

Eh, it was decent, worth the $5 I spent to see it in the theater, but I might wait till it hits the $5 bins at Wally World. Not a horrible movie, just not one I'll watch over and over either. Could have been worse, though. It could have been directed by Uwe Boll!

One of the worst movies of the year, laughable at best, they should have shot the whole movie in first person shooter mode, it would have made it more entertaining.

This movie was ruined in post-production. The editing and music were terrible. The FPS sequence lost any suspense it would have had by an awful Nu-Metal kind of song. The movie had some good ideas, and Pike is hot (though not as hot as in DOD), but it failed to impress me at all.
Since it's Unrated, I will give it a second chance and rent it, but I doubt I will change my mind.

I wish the MPAA would just lighten up. Nudity, the f-word, and blood just scare them far too much.
As for Doom, it was a video game based movie, nothing more. I might rent the unrated version, but other than the first-person shooting scenes, the movie was completely ridiculous, and it could have actually had a lot of potential if it hadn't taken itself seriously.
