i warched it last night in widescreen, it was horrible, and I'm a fan of FULL SCREEN dvds, so I DO want full sreen movies, you gotta love them, the black bars just irritates me so much... and the film was as bad as the art work, I thought it was gonna be cool, cuz I watched the trailer, but the movie was bad, I rathar like Resident Evil more than Doom "TWO THUMBS WAY DOWN"
I just got the DVD and I'm VERY disapointed
When I interviewed The Rock a few month ago he told me about this HUUUUGE explosion of the mars station at the end of the movie (you can actually see it in the trailer wich AGAIN is not on this DVD)
it was removed of the movie at the last minute aparently, and he was quite surprise about it. He told me it was suppose to be in the DVD (as deleted scene) with a making of the explosion...
Well... I smell the double dipp, because nor the sequence, nor it's making of, are in this DVD (the unrated one)...
I am soooo disapointed !

I'll see it a fan of fun dumb action flicks and Rock is classic.
Entertainment is Good Enough
For some reason, I'm looking forward to buying this movie. It really wasn't a good movie, but it was fun to watch. As long as a movie is fun, with the exception of FANTASTIC 4, then I can buy it. Another thing that sounds good is that this will have an unrated version. No, not just an unrated version, but an UNRATED version. 12 extra minutes should be of interest, since I've seen it twice already. Good thing it's not like DARK WATER, where the unrated version is shorter than the original. Basically, this could be a good DVD.

Actually, the rated version is squeezed horizontally.

Those are some nice menus. The DVD debut of DOOM should really makes its fans happy. Universal Pictures always has decent DVDs.
Is the unrated DVD art stretched a bit horizontally?
i don't think I could ever watch this movie. also, the cover art is very disappointing, but at least the menus look ok.

Indeed sir indeed. He does have talent, he just needs to showcase it in other movies than this. Like he was pretty surprising in Be Cool. They cast him outside of his stereotypical role. That was ballsy and he played it perfectly......this movie though.......may the Movie Gods have mercy on Dwayne Johnson's soul.

I'd say Karl Urban has quite good name recognition at the moment after staring as Eomer in the Lord of the Ring trilogies.Don't forget Vaako in The Chronicles of Ridd**k and Kirill in The Bourne Supremacy

Shouldn't the Rock get top billing I mean isn't he the main guy in this? Time to fire the agent methinks, oh wait he's in Doom...nevermind.
She's a looker, but the DVD art sucks.
I didn't think it was that bad actually.
This movie was terrible, only reason I saw it was I thought a friend of mine was going with me. He flaked out and I had to sit through this horrid film alone. I might have even nodded off a few times which rarely happens with me in a theater, excpet for maybe High Tension. I was the only one in the theater (saw it during the week) so I just stretched out on a few chairs and relaxed. LMAO. Nothing better! THAT IS THE REAL EXPERIENCE!!! But anyway, Doom sucked, and if those 12-13 extra minutes were deleted they must be for a reason and must not make it any better. If it makes it better, whoopdeedoo 12 minutes to make c**p go to mediocre. Makes me want to go back to the days of Super Mario Brothers and Mortal Kombat 95. Those were Spielberg in excellence compared to this tripe!!!! Waste your time and money on a movie like I dunno, Jarhead. Now that's a great flick!
I read that The Rock wasn't even the main character, and that it revolved around Urban's character. I mean, they put his name first. I hate how they sold the film in the trailers like The Rock was the main guy, and the cover art has him in the center.

the art work is on my top 10 worst of the year :S

Some of the worst cover art I've seen in a long time. The movie was ok, maybe worth a rent, but not the worst video game adaptation (Alone in the Dark ring any bells?)
The cover looks bad. I dunno, for some reason when I think of doom I don't see blue, it should have been red or darker colors.
Haha! Have you guys noticed that the image in regular cover is the exact same as the Unrated one, only it has been STRECHED? I mean, look at The Rocks' face! How hilarious! And how professional...
What Happened to the Good Ole' Days When Almost all of Universal's and Dreamworks DVD's Had DTS Tracks?
I really dont like that coverart!
As a matter of fact, this comes out here in the UK tomorrow (2nd December). Even though I downloaded it off the internet, the quality was c**p so I think I'll go see it on Saturday night.
I was suprised at how fast this movie was filmed and released!!i always check movieweb for the upcoming movies and their posters and they didnt have the artwork of the poster untill two weeks before the film was released. But when it came out I thought it looked cool but I thought it is probably one of those remakes of old tv shows and games gone bad. But I love the artwork of the movie and I think the logo for doom was perfect. I dont really care if the movie is good or bad I can learn to like the movie in its own special ways. But the artwork you cant learn to love if you dont like it already. So I love the artwork so I will be buying it without a doubt.
Is this a joke?
30 dollars for a stupid ass movie, that wasnt even worth the 5 dollars at the theatre.
Not to mention it bombed in the theatres because it had nothing to do with the actual game just the doom name and the fact that the rock was in it, the only reason they included Mars was because the fans were complaining. You dont even get to see hell in it. Hell, Spawn the movie even had hell in it.
Id software sold out, dont support the movie, support the game.
Sounds to me like hollywood had a script/screenplay for a movie that had nothing to do with doom and needed a name for it.
So they decided to cash in on the DOOM franchise so they called it Doom with ids approval behind it.
It sucks ass, and everyone knows it. The cover art even sucks.
Why should we support sell outs just wanting our money. Its not fair.

Again with the rated-full screen or un-rated-wide screen
does anyone really want full screen anymore?
You would be suprised at how may people still don't know the difference between the two. I've known several people who believe that you must have a high-definition widescreen television in order to view widescreen movies otherwise the black bars that appear on regular televisions are cutting off the picture. Also, Walmart sells almost all of their older movies in the fullscreen format so I guess there must be a demand for them.Correct, I still try to tell people why widescreen is better...
Like what Jonny Me You said "Some people just don't deserve to watch movies."

No humour? GREAT! Does everything horror related have to be oh so knowingly funny nowadays! I blame the 80's.

Looks like a good 'n' nasty romp...may check this out on the big screen.

I think it looks great and the cover is good too, just wish it was orange and not blue.
It was a piece of c**p. The first 20 minutes or so are ok, but then it just keeps getting stupider. The main problem is that it's just a series of tunnels and no open areas. There's also very few monsters, almost entirely the imps. There's one Death Knight which is featured in a fairly cool sequence, but then he's gone. Other than a couple of seconds with the Pinky in the 1st-person section, that's it. There's also no humor in the film and it's overall way too derivative of Aliens. I've been waiting for this film since it was first talked about 10 years ago and it's a major dissapointment.

^ All this King Kong Madness...I hope in the next King Kong, Godzilla returns and stomps him into obvlivion.
The game (Doom 3) is better than the movie...and that's not saying much

This is by far one of the worst movies I saw all year. The cover looks like one of those straight to the shelves movies you would find at blockbuster.
Is it just me? Does anyone else think this cover art looks cheap and tacky? As for the movie itself, I'll probably wait to see it on television.
i thought the movie was fun, and yeah it was even more fun looking at pike.
Ok Cover. This Movie was a big Flop!
The cover looks alright, but I doubt the movie will be anything higher than mediocre.
Actually, I like the cover.
I wish the MPAA would just lighten up. Nudity, the f-word, and blood just scare them far too much.
As for Doom, it was a video game based movie, nothing more. I might rent the unrated version, but other than the first-person shooting scenes, the movie was completely ridiculous, and it could have actually had a lot of potential if it hadn't taken itself seriously.

This movie was ruined in post-production. The editing and music were terrible. The FPS sequence lost any suspense it would have had by an awful Nu-Metal kind of song. The movie had some good ideas, and Pike is hot (though not as hot as in DOD), but it failed to impress me at all.
Since it's Unrated, I will give it a second chance and rent it, but I doubt I will change my mind.

this was an alright movie. I\'ll give it another rent. The coverart is pretty cool. Only thing is karl urbans face looks dumb and why did they put AND THE ROCK? Why cant they just put THE ROCK?
They should have put Rosamund Pike nude on the cover of the DVD. I'm sure it would fly off the shelves. You would be DOOMED not to buy it.
One of the worst movies of the year, laughable at best, they should have shot the whole movie in first person shooter mode, it would have made it more entertaining.
Artwork looks too... CGI-ish. They should have stuck with the red-dark arts. They need to touch it up too.
Nice work on the picks again Jonny!
Nice work on the picks again Jonny!
Didn't see it at the theater, but will by the unrated DVD. Alhtough the cover is ugly(emphasizes on "early artwork"
!
that is a pretty ugly looking cover. I wish that they used the poster, simple and pretty cool looking. This just makes The Rock look foolish.
Early specs and artwork added...
Jonny, thanks for making my day with that lovely pic.
this looks like a recent rent.. some good action sequences probably some gore, looks like the resident evil series and I enjoy those so i'll rent this for sure. wouldnt blind buy this one though!
Eh, it was decent, worth the $5 I spent to see it in the theater, but I might wait till it hits the $5 bins at Wally World. Not a horrible movie, just not one I'll watch over and over either. Could have been worse, though. It could have been directed by Uwe Boll!
Can't wait to see this - I'm sure it's mindless but the Rock is always good for a fun and diverting popcorn flick.
I didn't want to see it in theaters... but, I guess i'll give it a rent.

I think this is one of the reasons for the abysmal box office this year. Most movies get watered down to get a PG-13 rating, supposedly to attract the largest audience. However, most of the public knows that in 3-4 months there will be the unrated edition available on DVD.
That said, Doom doesn't really fall into that category. It was rated R. Releasing an UNRATED or NC-17 movie to theaters is suicide. Most theaters won't carry them.
Which is why it's looking more and more that the theatrical release is just a sneak peak for the DVD.

She's definately a looker...

As for the movie, I'll definately rent it. It is one of those flicks that I bet plays out better on a home theater then at a real one.

Indeed. Rosamund Pike is lovely. This movie was exactly what it intended to be - good popcorn-flick fodder. Enjoyable and fun.
This was okay, nothing special except for the first person shooter sequence.
Lord and Saints preserve us... Still, that Pike lass is fit.
