It came out the same day as "Up," and "Up" is my favorite summer movie, and I can't wait to buy that.
Question: Where's "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian?" I'm still waiting for that one to come out.

The most fun I had this summer at the movies!!!A must buy.
NICE! They stuck with the fantastic poster art, AND they're including both cuts on the DVD. SWEEET!!!!
Great cover. Heard good things about it. I'll check it out.

From what I heard earlier, they show something involving the cat. So if you seen the movie then you should know.

The best movie of the year at this point! It was such a great time. Will buy for sure.
I would be daft not to pick this one up. This was easily my favorite film of the year, hands down. It was comical, frightening, grotesque, and captivating. I loved every minute of it. Plus the ending was totally opposite of the typical Hollywood endings. The film was devoid of cliches and gratuitous graphic violence. I will definitely pick this one up on Blu-ray. Awesome movie. Glad to see the BD will get both theatrical and unrated cuts
. Can't wait to see what goodies are in the unrated director's cut. Although disappointed in the barebones release
The "Unrated Director's Cut" is 6 SECONDS SHORTER than the theatrical cut.

I really hope not. If that's true, that stinks. Nevertheless, I will purchase the BD no matter the running time of the unrated director's cut. I only care about the film.

This movie was brilliant. A fantastic mix of comedy and horror that deserved a bigger audience. Can't wait to rewatch it again, just in time for Halloween (though it did feel like the perfect summer "horror" movie, even though that sub-genre is quite rare amongst the big, loud blockbusters)

well the theatrical version is PG-13 so i'm sure there are many little scenes that needed to be removed or trimmed to avoid an R.

I'm not 100 percent sure but I remember that Sam Raimi mentionned that he had to use a few alternate shots to achieve the PG-13 rating. So there isn't really any major new scene in the "unrated" version. The movie was written and directed with PG-13 in mind. The "Unrated" promise will deceive people expecting some gory stuff à la Evil Dead as the current version is already close to Raimi's ideas.
so it basically means either version is good to see.

Where did you find that out? If so, that blows.
Anyway, I don't think an Unrated version would offer much anyway considering I read it didn't have to be edited to receive the PG-13 rating. Plus, it's honestly perfect the way it is. It's a nice gross-out movie but the violence isn't hardcore enough to earn it an "R" rating.

As I've said in the other thread, this is easily one of the best film this year so far. Alison Lohman is a gifted actress, I knew she was destined for something great since I saw 'White Oleander'. This is a definite buy!
Best film I saw this summer, until District 9.
OMG YES! Best B-Movie of the new century!

Nooo! That was the only part I didn't like.

Raimi needs to stick to this kind of film and sever his ties with Spider-Man. While not entirely Raimi's fault, SM3 was a huge mess. DMTH shows where his strengths truly lie. Bring on Evil Dead 4!!!
Even for Universal, they sure as hell skimped out on the extras for DMTH.
Shame the standard doesn't have DTS. One of the best audio mixes for a film this year.

Unrated looks gayer than the original. Scariest movie of the decade? Really? Midnight Meat Train was way scarier.
There were three movies I really enjoyed this summer: "Star Trek", "District 9" and "Drag Me To Hell". Can't wait for this one. Wonder what was changed in the Director's Cut. Good to see that Raimi's putting his official vision out.
I really wanted to like this.
There were so many times where I was really enjoying it and then it would go too far.
What really lost me was the funeral/wake scene involving excessive CG saliva and the CG popping eyeball. There was way too much CG in this film, and much of it was poorly done.
Count me as disappointed.

Same here, saw District 9 last week, and thought it was exceptionally great. As for 2009 I'll sneak Two Lovers in there as my other favorite as well.

Glad they stuck with the poster art. Will be buying blu for sure. Wonder what the Unrated cut is like.
One of the most fun times I have ever had at a horror movie, Sam Raimi, all is forgiven for Spider-Man 3.
One of the most enjoyable films of the year. Definitely an instant cult classic.
