I'd be interested in seeing how "How to Train Your Dragon" looks in 3D. The others I don't really find musts.

Waste of money. 3D won't last more than a few more years.

i'm sure it'll eventually die down and even stop theatrically, but with 3D tvs selling well enough, i can totally see home video 3D be around for a long time. i mean it would give hollywood an extra shot with some movies. say it didn't do well theatrically, when it hits blu-ray they can say "now see it in 3D!!!"
but yeah its definately a pointless gimmick that adds nothing and actually detracts from the movie. i mean first off it just looks like viewmaster moving images and then within the first 20-30mins you adjust to the effect to the point where its not even noticeable anymore.

3D is a gimmick, but it's not going anywhere anytime soon. It's time people just learn to accept that instead of gripe on every article that mentions 3D. Glasses-free tech will also eventually make it into the main stream market more.

I for one think it works for CGI cartoons. The very first movie I saw in 3D, Toy Story 3, made for a great experience.
But when it comes to features, it definitely is a gimmick. It feels like you're watching a huge LCD TV with the brightness level cranked up to max.

I completely agree.
I completely agree.
3D will be around for a while - the companies have invested too much money in it.
When you have people like James Cameron still playing around with it and refining it, 3D will get better.
Avatar on iMax was unbelieveable (Yes I know the story was c**p).
When home systems start catching up most people will be pleasently surprised...
Just my 2 cents.

Done well 3D isn't just a gimmick but it can be abused by studios just to get a little extra money out of ticket sales.
