E.T comes to region twoOne of the most anticipated DVD releases has finally been announced on region two. The world’s best-loved alien, E.T will be released by Universal Home Entertainment this winter. If you know nothing about this classic, then here's a little about the story. While visiting the Earth at Night, a group of alien botanists is discovered and disturbed by an approaching human task force. Because of the more than hasty take-off, one of the visitors is left behind. The little alien finds himself all alone on a very strange planet. Fortunately, the extra-terrestrial soon finds a friend and emotional companion in 10-year-old Elliot, who discovered him looking for food in his family's garden shed. While E.T. slowly gets acquainted with Elliot's brother Michael, his sister Gertie as well as with Earth customs, members of the task force work day and night to track down the whereabouts of Earth's first visitor from Outer Space.

E.T: The Extra-Terrestrial will be released in a feature packed two Disc edition. You can expect the disc to feature the following. On the first disc we have a 20 Years later with Steven Spielberg featurette as well as an Isolated John Williams live music score. Making up the second disc is a featurette called Space Exploration as well as a featurette entitled The Evolution and Creation of E.T. Next we have interviews and footage of the long standing relationship between John Williams and Steven Spielberg as well as footage from the 20th Anniversary Premiere. Next comes a featurette dedicated to The Reunion, E.T. Archives, Trailers and rounding up the disc is a Total Axess DVD-Rom Feature.

There is no sign of the special boxset that region one fans will be able to purchase. However, there is certainly enough on this two disc set to keep most people happy. E.T: The Extra-Terrestrial will be in shops from 28th October, and retail price is likely to be £22.99.
