Fox has announced single ($29.98) and double-disc ($34.98) editions of Eragon which stars Jeremy Irons. Each will be available to own from the 20th March. The film will be presented in 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. The only extra material on the single-disc will be an audio commentary by director Stefen Fangmeier. The special edition will include that, along with a five-part Inside The Inheritance Trilogy: The Making of Eragon feature, a Random House Digital Novel featuring the first two chapters of the second novel Eldest, an interview with the author talking about Eldest, character profiles, and seven extended/deleted scenes with optional director commentary. Completing the package will be a visual effects showcase for 19 separate film sequences, original animatic sequences, conceptual artwork, an animation guide, storyboards, trailers, and more.
Also available from the 20th will be a Blu-ray release of the film. This will be a single-layer disc (25GB) authored in MPEG2 compression with English 5.1 DTS HD Lossless Master Audio plus French and Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital sound, along with several high-definition trailers. Retail will be around $39.98.
