Yeah I'm fine with the older 2 disc special collector's edition even though I will buy the Blu-ray someday but still I love the 2006 dvd warts and all. The UK's dvd packaging is nice though.
Loved the film but will it be worth the double dip after the excellent 2 disc?
Doubt it.
Doubt it.

When has the image been vertically stretched ?
maybe he's thinking of that old Paula Abdul video? lol

Why are they re-releasing this? I don't remember this film being good at all.

Cash-in.
Exact same special features as the 2006 2-disc SE, can't rule out an improved transfer but I don't get the point to this release. here are the special features from the 2006 edition:
Commentary by director Paul W.S. Anderson and producer Jeremy Bolt
The Making of Event Horizon - 5 Documentaries: Into the Jaws of Darkness; The Body of the Beast; Liberate Tutume Ex Infernis; The Scale to Hell; The Womb of Fear
The Unseen Event Horizon: The unfilmed rescue scene; Conceptual Art: Montage of paintings and drawings of uniforms, ships and more
The Point of No Return - The Filming of Event Horizon

Why can't we get a special edition of Mortal Kombat?
You have touched my inner fanboy, it's on my list.
What I would like to have seen as a better re-re-release - packaging; the 2006 region 2 special edition. That looked awesome. The case resembled part of the craft and when you opened it up, it was a bloody mess, literally. The discs were held inside a digipack inside.

This has the same extras as the 2-disc from 3 years ago. As explained in the making of documentary, the footage and trims for an extended version were misplaced somewhere and they can't find it (as of 3 years ago). Deleted scenes are sometimes in a rough form.
Seriously, I don't get the point of this release. A 2 disc version came out only 2-3 years ago.
I gotta get this for the unseen footage.
What's different, the special features? Or maybe it's a high def transfer. I recommend the Blu-ray to anyone who's interested in this film. The original DVD has serious pixelization issues during the fast cutting in the "hell" scenes. They are intercut so quickly that the DVD transfer couldn't keep up with them and the result most often is a couple frames of indiscernible blockiness. However that could have been fixed for the this new release.
Just release the darn extended version already!
sounds just like a rerelease with the same extras.
Marcus, 'cause that image resemble the one seen in Avatar's trailer
Released to coincide with Pandorum? Otherwise I don't see the reason to re-release this.
That cover doesn't make much sense. Why focus on such a small partof the film?
strange double dip.
the last release wasn't too long ago and had 2 disc with that big "making of" on there. what else is there to say or add? is it the movie's anniversary or something?

Either that or they'll finally release it without the image being vertically stretched.
"The Unseen Event Horizon"? Could this be some of the long lost footage?
