My verdict on EiI

Anyone actually seen it? Whats the verdict?
I loved this film so much I caught six viewings while it was in my area. Took my daughter to one - she is a totally unbiased viewer as she doesn't follow the career of anyone connected with it - and she loved it so much she went back for a second viewing with me. It is worth so much more than a rental... I just wish it were coming out on DVD sooner, and with those commentary tracks already mentioned by some!

Can't wait for this.

Exhibit B: No deleted scenes!
Exhibit C: No behind-the-scenes featurette!
Shopgirl on DVD 3/21/06
Those would be nice too but a commentary just really increases the value of a disc for me.

Looks pretty good to me. I'll try it out.
All I knew about it was that it was based on a book, but I'm actually interested now.
Completely unrelated, but I hope the Shopgiel DVD is annouced soon.

Since it was released limited I missed it. Seems very good. Nice off beat indy film! I saw Thumbsucker and wasnt too impressed, this might be the best off beat indy of 05! But the cover is hands down the coolest ever! I'm glad they didn't change it.
The film was very good.
I'll purchase this for sure.

Really want to see this and I'm so glad they stuck with the poster art for the release.
This film was a complete surprise to me. The first half is really funny and the second half is pretty emotional. Liev Schreiber's got promise as a director.
There was a comparison in Entertainment Weekly a couple months back comparing the Peter Sellers cover and Everything Is Illuminated's poster and yeah I too noticed similarities and it's not like Warner can sue....because they are both films from Warner (the Peter Sellers one is an HBO Films release though).

I'm not gonna get nasty with anyone. It's your guys opinion of what you think. I was just stating of what I thought. Also, I'm a very judgemental guy too. I just think that if it's anything dirty that bothers people or hurts someone's feelings, I won't say it.

Even moreso since Johnny Depp did a commentary for Pirates so he could likely have been coaxed in to do one for Charlie. On top of that, Burton could have brought his wife in while Johnny was commentating and they could have additionally done a track with Depp and Bonham Carter for The Corpse Bride, which doesn't have any commentaries either (instead Warner gave us a music-only track which is an okay feature, but not better than commentary at all).
Maybe the cover is to promote it to the arthouse crowd - this reminds me of The Eternal Sunshine movie with Jim Carrey (I know completely different storylines) but I hope you guys see my point

This cover does look very similar to "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers." Good call.

It's not that it's annoys me, I just think like, "What was the point of making that post?" I just don't want to be known as the DVDActive asshole. It's just the thought of what I was thinking of the release. I mean, I can be an asshole sometimes too, but I try to hold my temper with some people too. There is no way that you would be on that list just for stating your personal opinion.

Wow, I never noticed how weird having Elijah Wood's eyelids behind the glasses looked. Guess I never looked too closely at the poster.
This didn't come to any of the theaters near me, but I really wanted to see it. I probably would have bought it blind if it had some decent extras, but I think I'll just stick to a rental now.

Has anyone else noticed how similar the artwork is to "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers" starring Geoffrey Rush?

No offense Tony, but do you have to say this for every movie that is announced. I find when I see a new announcement, you are always right there saying that it looked "okay" and "maybe you'll rent it". I'm not trying to start a fight, but it's kind of annoying and floods the boards to say such a generic thing that has nothing to do with the film and provides no contribution to discussion on the thread. Again, I'm not trying to start a fight, it's just something that has been kind of annoying me for a while. I will also admit that I'm a very judgemental person and I have a need to speak my mind, so don't take it personally. That's okay, it's people's opinions. I know you are a judgemental person. Well, another actor turned director. I haven't seen this so I can't really comment on Liev Schreiber's directing, but I never liked his acting.

EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED (2005)
This looked decent, might rent it if I am in the mood. And I too hate that Warner Bros. Pictures does not include commentaries on thier films. BATMAN BEGINS despertaly needed one with Christopher Nolan and David Goyer and another with the cast. And I still am in denial that they did not give a commentary to Tim Burton and Danny Elfman for CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. They have done one for almost every one of his film on DVD expect that movie.

In any case, this was a great movie and it's still in my top 20.
