The Exorcist: The Complete Anthology (US - DVD R1)
Warner Home Video has sent over a few details on a new anthology collection...
Title: The Exorcist: The Complete Anthology (IMDb: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Starring: Linda Blair
Released: 10th October 2006
SRP: $42.92
Further Details:
I have little doubt that devoted readers of the site caught our tease of a blurb about this package hidden away in another news item a few weeks ago, but today Warner Home Video has made it official by announcing the release of The Exorcist: The Complete Anthology on the 10th of October at a retail price of right around $42.92. The six-disc set will contain both the original version of The Exorcist and The Exorcist: The Version You've Never Seen, plus Exorcist II: The Heretic, The Exorcist III: Legion, Exorcist: The Beginning, and Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist. There's been no word on extra material as of yet or how the expected supplements will differ from the discs that are currently available or those that have been previously released, but we'll let you know as soon as we find out. For now though, we've attached our first look at the artwork for the set below.

Someone needs to put "The Version You've Never Seen" and "The Exorcist II" on separate lines, because that's really distracting, but as long as these are all identical to the versions that have already been released, I'll buy this, seeing as I don't own any of them and have wanted to (I'm a sucker for sequels, even if they're awful as I've heard some of these are).

Must buy this.
Apparently, though I've not seen it, The Exorcist III is good, but everyone hated EII so they never saw it.
Or something like that.
Or something like that.
I own "Exorcist: The Beginning" and "Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist" even thought one is bad and the other is horrible, just because they are part of film hisroty (two different versions of the same film)
But I do plan on buying the original sometimes soon. But I am still holding out for a Two-Disc Special Edition, but I dont think its coming.

E3 might be the director's cut that was spoken about some years ago...complete with Blatty's commentary. Reason why I say so is because they were gonna add Legion to the title. Let's hope so.
Just throwing what they have into a box, plain and simple. I extremely doubt that anything new will be present (except maybe keepcases for the previous snappers so the packaging all matches). Whatever the case, I won't be buying anything of the sort. If they ever release an Exorcist III special edition, I'll go for it, but it seems like it'll never happen. They tried two years ago, but it didn't pan out.

I have everything but the theatrical cut of the original and the two versions of the prequel, and I don't want either of those.

maybe it depends where the movie was released...but over here it was called "exorcist 3:legion"

If there's any justice or God, all of them will be digitally re-remastered, DTS tracks all around, Exorcist III will have both the original and the Legion cut. And extras all around. And all extras from the original DVDs carried over.
Well, considering these are all movies about the devil or demon possession, I don't think God have much desire to bless us with such luxuries. Translation: don't bet on it. Like I said, probably just throwing what they already have in a big box. Sony's done it with John Carpenter films. Plus, I haven't heard any rumblings of new cuts of special editions. I do run a horror movie website, and frequent others daily.

Would be nice if Bill Blatty's version of Exorcist III was included, as the novel was just wonderful, and the changes imposed upon the movie seriously screwed it up.
We weren't that jazzed about George C Scott's interpretation of Kinderman, but seeing as the great Lee J Cobb had been dead for many years prior to the movie, he obviously couldn't be in it (Cobb was supposed to reprise his role in Exorcist II, but he passed away during pre-production and they ended up writing a completely different script...)
If this was going to be THE definitive release of the entire series, then surely they should have the short version of Exorcist II, which is inferior to the longer version, but would be nice from a completist's standpoint, as it has a different tone (and a more abrupt ending) to the longer version.
If they were chucking in a few new extras, then they should try and include the intro that was on the opening of the dealer copies of Exorcist III in the UK, which had some guy in a Liverpudlian/Brummie accent going on about how the original Exorcist movie was not available in the UK, but Exorcist III is - it's hilarious!

Already own this in R2.. Gr8 value!
Wait a minute... I already have all of these... and
that package is sort of hard to read, decent collection, but I shall be passing.

I think we should give Warner some credit...
They rarely disappoint with their box sets and this will be the first time in a long time the original theatrical will have been on DVD.

I'm not a fan of the movies, but that price is right.
The Exorcist = masterpiece, The Exorcist 2 = cinematic equivalent of dog doo, Exorcist 3 Legion = has some good moments, Exorcist the Beginning and Dominion = two versions of a so-so movie. All in all, not really worth it...I have the Exorcist and that's all that matters.
I already own the Exorcist Extended Cut and I am more than happy with that edition that I don't need the original also. The rest of the movies are mediocore, but if the price is right, I can see people picking this up because it's a very good set based on what Warner Brothers has included.
well my money is GONE in october!
Part I= Fantastic
Part II= Poo
Part III= Better than it gets credit for being
Dominion= Not seen it....
Well there goes my money.

Wow should have read that before my previous post...great job Mark.

As of this writing, I'm still too chicken 2 watch such a great classic like "The Exorcist." E2 & E:Legion I won't bother renting. Dominion wasn't that bad, more thriller than horror, my kind of movie. As for Exorcist:The Beginning, Renny Harlin can kiss all of our asses for wasting our money.
This is the first time in awhile that the original Exorcist is available. I went looking for it last year and all you could find is the Version You've Never Seen Before.
SWEET! I already own all 5 films, BUT I will be buying this also...if even just for the box. I love boxset collections of movies.
Thanks Warner Brothers.
Thanks Warner Brothers.
Only the original and Dominion are worth the money. I'm not getting this.
I wish E3 was the proper cut. It did get announced some time back, but then they discovered they couldn't find the elements. I'm pissed. I love that film.
I like the art, nice colors...but the only exorcist film I think that is worth a damn is "Exorcist III: Legion"...aside from the studio screw-ups I thought it was the only suspensful, non-terrible one in the lot.
so the The Fear of God documentry won't included in this set? cos it was available in the 25th Anniversary Edition.
They should have a re-cut of The Exorcist III
