That's still pretty much a tank at the box office. To recover everything it cost to be made and only gain 3 million in difference is not very good at all. What is saving it somewhat is that its made better business on foreign countries than actual U.S

Well it sounds like you have seen it, so would you care to enlighten me, or are you satisfied with being a prick?

Man, I remember Irene Cara was a fine piece of Puerto Rican culo when this movie first came out.....
I would say the remake sucked but I barely saw anything about it. It came and went quietly from my perspective. I've seen the original and I enjoyed it but it's not really my thing but I do have interest in seeing it again.
Alan Parker directed this!? I just may give it watch knowing that.
4 song CD sampler? Just put on the whole damn soundtrack

Actually, the remake was quite good once you can look past the bad editing. Alot of opportunity was taken out of the remake on the editing part anyway. Also, it did not tank. It's budget was 18 million, it has made 20 million in the U.S. so far, thus making back its budget, and 3 million in other territories. So, can't wait to get the remake on blu when it comes out and can't wait to get this.
SPOILER ALERT FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN THIS 30 YEAR OLD MOVIE: MBanno, I would say the R rating came from some of the more mature themes in the piece. I won't go into too much detail, but there's everything from rape, to suicide, to making sleazy movies in this film, and the characters are all high schoolers. Some of it is pretty tame by today's standards, but I'd hazard a guess that if it wasn't an R today, it'd be pretty close.

Love how they feel the need to add "The Original Movie" under the title. Also, is it just me or does that BD case look a bit... big?
I know, Hollywood needs to leave remakes alone, their never better then the original. I bet the remake will be released on Dvd/BD at the same time, Why else would they not release the BD of this film when the DVD was released (15 Sep. 09).
Never seen this, I might give it a shot on Blu. No interest in the remake whatsoever. I hope remaking 70s and 80s musicals is not the new Hollywood trend, now that they've remade almost every important horror movie from that period. Get an original f*cking idea!
Boy did that remake SUCK. This is the one to get.
Ahh. Ok, thanks for the info, Duckling.
The movie was released before PG-13 was made. Most movies that were released during the 80's were rated R since PG-13 wasn't avaliable.
Just what made this R-Rated to begin with?
Might give this one a try. Remake looked terrible.
The REAL Fame movie. None of that PG rated horribly edited BS of a remake most had to seat through this year! Deserving how badly it tanked and it's still tanking. Gets me happy! Possibly the WORST thought out remake with truly obnoxious kids that can't act for s h i t.
