Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced Fireproof which stars Kirk Cameron, Erin Bethea, and Alex Kendrick. The Alex Kendrick directed film will be available to own from the 27th January, and should retail at around $28.96. Extras will include commentary with Co-Writer/Director Alex Kendrick and Co-Writer/Producer Stephen Kendrick, Deleted Scenes with Director's Introduction, featurettes, bloopers, resource film clips, Fireproof Resources, Fireproof in 60 with Director's Introduction, and more.

Synopsis

Quote: Lt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter's adage: Never leave your partner behind. Inside burning buildings, it's his natural instinct. In the cooling embers of his marriage, it's another story. After a decade of marriage, Caleb and Catherine Holt have drifted so far apart that they are ready to move on without each other. Yet as they prepare to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb's dad asks his son to try an experiment: The Love Dare. While hoping The Love Dare has nothing to do with his parents' newfound faith, Caleb commits to the challenge. But can he attempt to love his wife while avoiding God's love for him? I agree that MANY "Christians" are hypocritical and judgemental. It's a growing problem. That's why secular people don't want to give Christianity a try because they see people and they are like, "That's it?"
The Bible even states that Christians would be made fun of, mocked, turned down, "spat" on by others, or even killed for our beliefs.
So go ahead and make fun of Christians, but there are some true, Christ-loving Christians out there who are saddened by this fact over "fake Christianity."

Actually, I'd say the world is in a sorry state when this comes out and is an instant hit. Christians will flock to any Christian movie regardless of quality. It seems the lamer and preachier the better.

It sounds awful from this scene an online friend of mine explained (she works at a theater and snuck in to watch a few minutes on her break):

I saw a scene where Kirk Cameron was tempted to look at porn on his computer and he said something along the lines of "Why is this so hard, Lord?" So he picks up some Bible-like book for inspiration. He then proceeds to take the computer to his backyard to beat it with a baseball bat.

So Kirk Cameron donated HIS earnings. The studio did not donate the money they made, like you stated.

I may check this out with a couple of friends just to laugh at it (I work at a video store so I could get it free when it comes out - I'd never actually give it my $$$). Otherwise I'd never go near this cr*p. It's supposed to be incredibly cheesy.

I cannot stand preachy religious movies!!! whether I believe in God or not is really not relevant. It's mainly because I dont like movies that tell me what I should think or what I should believe. Like there is no other way to live besides how God tells you to.

I gotta give this movie props, it cost $500,000 to make, and it's made $30 million so far at the box office.

It didn't look all that appealing to me (and not for religious reasons because i have no problem with those flicks), but for the sake of seeing it, I might just give it a rent.

I saw it a while back in cinemas. Despite some good casting (but not Cameron), this has got to be one of the worst movies coming out this year.

I remember this one actually broke into the Box Office Top 10 one weekend. Pretty shocking -- nothing against the movie, which I haven't seen (nor intend to) but for a movie like this to break into the Top 10 is pretty crazy. I can't remember what else was in theaters at the time, but it must have been a really slow week.

So, given that, it certainly does have an audience somewhere ...
